Female teacher, 40, arrested for grooming and sexually assaulting 16-year-old male pupil
The teacher, an English instructor in Mumbai, is accused of taking the boy to five-star hotels, making him drink alcohol, and giving him anti-anxiety pills before committing the abuse.
The abuse began in January 2024 after the teacher became attracted to the boy during dance group meetings in late 2023, according to the police.
She would allegedly use a woman friend to coax the boy into meeting her and take him to isolated places or luxury hotels, where she would sexually assault him. The boy reportedly developed acute anxiety from the abuse and was given anti-anxiety pills by the teacher.
The minor's parents noticed a change in his behaviour and encouraged him to open up about the abuse. Initially, they did not take any action as the boy was about to leave the school after his class 10 exams. However, when the teacher tried to contact him again after he had left the school, the parents decided to approach the Mumbai police.
"The teacher has been arrested under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Juvenile Justice Act for aggravated sexual assault and has been taken into custody by the Dadar police," the Times of India reported.
During the investigation, the teacher allegedly admitted to the crime and showed the police the places where she had assaulted the boy, reported the Indian Express. The police have reportedly obtained CCTV footage of some of the places establishing the presence of the accused and the boy.
The teacher was arrested and remanded in police custody for four days. She was subsequently taken for a psychiatric test at a local government hospital. The police sought an extension of her custody, but the court denied the request and sent her to judicial custody for 14 days.
The Pocso Act protects children from sexual abuse, regardless of their gender, and carries a punishment of at least seven years in jail, up to life imprisonment, and a fine in cases of penetrative sexual assault.
The school the teacher worked at expressed shock and said it was cooperating with the police investigation. The school's spokesperson said they had a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual offences against children.
The accused teacher resigned from the school in 2024 after the management expressed displeasure over her performance, reports said.
'We will visit the school to understand what led to her resignation,' a police officer told the Hindustan Times newspaper.

A teacher's aide in Upstate New York had sex with a teenage student in her car, which was parked outside the school, according to bombshell court filings reviewed by The Independent. Between 2024 and 2025, the aide, who is identified only by her first name in the filings, 'engaged in sexually charged physical interactions' with the unidentified boy, beginning with 'sexually explicit communications and… sexually explicit media,' and progressing to 'sexually charged physical interactions… in various places within the subject school,' according to a complaint filed June 30 by the boy's mother. This included, the complaint alleges, 'kissing in and around' Cohoes High School until the winter of 2025, when the aide 'engaged in oral sex with [the student], multiple times in [her] car within the subject school.' The filing sheds new light on a situation that roiled the city of Cohoes, which is located about 150 miles north of New York City. On March 20, Cohoes City School District Superintendent Peggy O'Shea sent a letter to parents regarding allegations of 'inappropriate conduct' by the aide. 'Upon becoming aware of these allegations, administration immediately contacted the Cohoes Police Department,' O'Shea wrote. 'Since that time the District has been fully cooperating with law enforcement.' Due to the ongoing investigation, O'Shea said she was unable to share further details at the time. The full name of the aide, 19-year-old Alexsandra Morales, was identified by News10. She is now facing a pair of criminal misdemeanor charges: sexual misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child. According to the complaint, the situation was discovered on March 18 by the teen's mom. Morales was arrested on March 20, News10 reported. The student involved was 15 at the time of the alleged abuse and was too young to legally consent, according to police. Cohoes Police Chief Todd Waldin told News10 that his department pursued felony charges against Morales, but that they were precluded from doing so by the state penal code because the age difference between Morales and the student was less than four years. The lawsuit, which was brought under the New York Child Victims Act, accuses the school district of negligent hiring, training, and supervision, as well as failing to remove the employee from the school despite notice of reported misconduct. It further claims that the administration 'knew or should have known about the subject pattern of abuse and should have prevented or stopped it,' and that it 'allowed for these violent and deviant incidents to occur on a regular and repeating basis, despite having notice of their occurrence.' 'Each instance of [Morales'] sexual misconduct and inappropriate physical contact with [the teen] constitutes battery,' the student's mother's complaint says. As a result, the complaint contends the student 'suffered… severe injuries and damages… including but not limited to, mental and emotional distress.' The lawsuit seeks damages to be determined in court. Morales is due back in Cohoes City Court on July 23.

Woman says she ‘froze' during alleged rape by former Nine O'Clock Service priest
A woman said she 'froze' after she was allegedly pushed down and raped by a former priest accused of sexual offences against 13 women in his congregation, a court heard. Christopher Brain, 68, from Wilmslow, Cheshire, was leader of the Nine O'Clock Service (NOS), part of the Church of England, in Sheffield between 1986 and 1995. Brain denies one count of rape and 36 counts of indecent assault between 1981 and 1995. The prosecution allege NOS became a cult where Brain abused his position to sexually assault a 'staggering number' of women followers, exerting control over their lives and ostracising them from friends and family. Inner London Crown Court has heard a 'homebase team' was set up to 'care for' Brain – referred to as 'the Lycra Lovelies' or 'the Lycra Nuns' – with witnesses reporting seeing the defendant surrounded by attractive women in lingerie at his home looking after his needs. On Friday, a recorded video interview was played to the court of a woman who has alleged Brain raped and indecently assaulted her. In the interview with police, she said Brain wanted her to go around to 'keep him company' and she said it was early evening. 'It was cold so it wasn't the middle of summer I don't think,' she said. 'I went around straight away, he got me to sit in the front room. 'He persuaded me to have a whiskey. I had a small amount, probably about a single.' After some chatting Brain went upstairs and came down in a suit which was a 'murky greeny browny colour', the woman said, adding that she thought it was 'ugly' but did not say that. She said he then went back upstairs and got changed and came back down and then wanted to show her 'a futon thing in his room'. The woman said she sat down fully clothed, and added she had probably taken her shoes off downstairs at the door. She said 'he sat down beside me and after a short while he pushed me down' so he was 'on top of me'. The woman added that he then started to rape her. She said she was 'putting my head from side to side' and 'saying no', adding: 'And I couldn't get him off me.' The woman said afterwards he made her have a bath downstairs. She said she considered going to the police afterwards but thought 'it would be really traumatic' and she thought she did not want her family to know. Asked by the interviewing officer on the recording if Brain tried to kiss her, the woman replied: 'He had on previous occasions, I can't remember on that occasion.' Asked if she tried to do anything else to try to stop him, the woman said: 'I couldn't stop him, I couldn't push him off me.' She added: 'It was a freeze response, I froze.' The woman also said Brain had been 'grooming' her and 'following me about in his car'. She described it as a 'relentless pursuit'. The woman also said she believes she was 'brain washed' and added she could not go back to her family. Iain Simkin, defending, started cross-examination by saying Brain says he did not rape her, and he says he did not sexually assault her at all. Mr Simkin asked the woman if she had said no during the alleged rape and she said she groaned no. The trial continues.

'Traumatised' After the rape, which the woman said lasted about a minute, Mr Brain told her to have a bath and was "really nervous and edgy," the court heard."He hustled me out of the house quite soon after that," the woman added."He told me he'd used a condom but it had split. I think he was petrified of evidence or that I'd get pregnant."The woman said she was "traumatised" and "repulsed" by the rape but did not want to tell family and friends about what had happened so did not report it to the police."I thought the only way I can deal with this is to supress the feelings, to sort of park it deeply, and to forgive him," she woman went on to be involved in NOS after Mr Brain and others set up the congregation at St Thomas Crookes said: "All the way through NOS I was frightened.
