14 Fragrances That Match Baccarat Rouge 540's Energy And Longevity

14 Fragrances That Match Baccarat Rouge 540's Energy And Longevity

Buzz Feed14-02-2025
In my opinion, there are two qualities linked to the wildly lauded fragrance Baccarat Rouge 540 that made it the cult classic that it now is: it smells like wealth, and it lingers. As tantalizing as so many other popular perfumes might be, very few achieve this combination. And so, people of all income brackets have coughed up the $400-plus for this unicorn of a scent produced by perfume house Maison Francis Kurkdjian.
And while it's never mentioned outright — like the top, middle, and base notes mentioned in a fragrance's description — a scent's ability to make you smell rich, sophisticated, and of elegant taste is always appealing. Baccarat Rouge and scents like it (think Le Labo Santal 33 or Parfums de Marly's Haltane) are, simply put, complex.
Bernadette Lim, my favorite perfume expert and educator, attributed Baccarat Rouge's uniqueness largely to its composition of saffron, ambergris, and cedarwood.
'It creates an ethereal sweetness combined with a warm, woody depth — something that resonates deeply with a wide audience,' she said, noting its ability to gently acclimate to each person who wears it. 'It feels highly personal as it adapts to individual skin chemistry. On some people, it reveals a rich, sugary warmth, while on others, it leans more woody and resinous.'
And when it comes to a sought-after scent, staying power is everything. Baccarat Rouge gives you a lot for your money; people on multiple message boards tout that you'll smell it even after showering and applying other scents.
'This fragrance doesn't just stay close to the skin — it leaves a memorable trail that lingers for hours, sometimes even days, on clothes,' Lim said. 'In a fragrance market where thousands of perfumes compete for consumer attention, projection and longevity are not just desirable — they're essential.'
This kind of effectiveness, she added, is particularly attractive in a luxury product, where consumers expect more for their investment.
And because finding a fragrance that makes you happy — and leaves a trail of amorous sniffers — is an investment, you ought to be able to diversify your collection. Here are 14 gender-inclusive eau de parfums with just as much staying power and sophistication as Baccarat Rouge.
1.
Kiehl's
Musk, at 50 milliliters, is currently Kiehl's only eau de toilette in its vast beauty and grooming collection, perhaps because of Musk's distinctiveness and addictive nature. Much like Baccarat Rouge, the scent manifests a little differently on everyone, yet it's still happily recognizable from across the room.
Get it from Nordstrom for $50.
2.
Armani Beauty
Available in a 3.4-ounce size, Armani Privé's Rouge Malachite is a luxurious floral-amber fragrance that shares Baccarat's depth and sophistication. "With notes of tuberose, amber and saffron, it's perfect for those who love bold, elegant scents but want a floral twist," Lim said.
Glossier
While Glossier is known for its more subtle scents, Rêve is a recent, slightly bolder drop that balances sandalwood and ambrette with top notes of buttercream. The result is a worthy contender to Baccarat Rouge, perhaps for anyone who prefers a mellower version.
Arquiste
Inspired by the almond marzipan of medieval Andalusia, Arquiste Almond Suede is equal parts sweet and leathery — slightly more musky than Baccarat yet similar in depth and radiance. Get this in a 3.4-ounce bottle.
Burberry / Coty
Burberry Goddess blends a trio of vanillas with notes of lavender and patchouli, creating a long-lasting impression without coming across as overwhelming.
Get it from Sephora for $39+ (available in four sizes).
6.
D.S & DURGA
D.S & DURGA's Jazmin Yucatan gives heavy tropical vacation vibes — think bergamot, cloves and vetiver — but also parallels Baccarat in its Mexican jasmine notes that contribute to an unexpected softness.
Get it from D.S & DURGA for $75+ (available in three sizes).
7.
NOYZ / Foundation PR
NOYZ Lost + Found comes off slightly brighter than Baccarat Rouge because of the citrus notes that dance alongside cedarwood and pink pepper. Clean and memorable, though, the rookie fragrance is a great match for its price point. It's available in a 50-milliliter bottle.
Get it from Ulta for $85.
8. A smoky-sweet scent from a viral niche brand
Parfums de Marly
Parfums de Marly's Herod fragrance is best known for its rich tobacco and vanilla blend, which adds a comforting warmth that's similar to Baccarat, but a little more forward. Great for anyone who enjoys smoky-sweet fragrances, you can get Herod in a 2.5-ounce bottle.
Get it from Neiman Marcus for $275.
9. A light, ethereal scent from the same family
Maison Francis Kurkdjian
Tiziana Terenzi Spirito Fiorentino often draws comparisons to Baccarat Rouge, sharing its saffron and amber notes but with a sharper, more pronounced woody base — an ideal choice for those who want a slightly edgier take on the classic Baccarat vibe, Lim said. It's available in a 3.4-ounce bottle.
Get it from Neiman Marcus for $395.
11.
Parfums de Marly
Leaning more feminine (based on how we were socialized to perceive scents), Parfums de Marly's Palatine feels like a natural bedmate to Baccarat Rouge because of its floral, woody musk base and powdery top notes that fade in the best way over time. Get this in a 2.5-ounce bottle.
Get it from Parfums de Marly for $390.
12. A nature-inspired scent from a historic Italian perfumer
Santa María Novella
Straight out of one of the oldest, most venerable perfumeries in the world, Santa Maria Novella Quercia is an ode to nature — the majesty of oak specifically. It's a bit more subtle than Baccarat yet mirrors its balance of notes (Quercia's woodiness is countered by vetiver and patchouli) and projection. It's available in either a 50-milliliter bottle or a 100-milliliter bottle.
Get it from Santa María Novella for $275.
13. A warm, inviting scent that's truly genderless
Mancera
Mancera Instant Crush features a blend of citrus, saffron, amber and woods, creating a warm, sweet and slightly spicy scent that's akin to Baccarat Rouge, Lim said. It's available in a 4-ounce bottle.
Get it from Bloomingdale's for $190.
14. A megawatt scent that's scientifically engineered to linger
Coty
J'ai Trois Amours — from Coty, a heavy hitter of perfume houses — is a titan of lingering; the entire line's longevity is augmented by science. It features notes of jasmine that conjure Baccarat while leaning sweeter but gender-inclusive. It's available in a 75-milliliter bottle or a 150-milliliter refill size.
Get it from Infiniment Coty Paris for $290.

One of Venice's Best Rooftops Returns as a Breezy Greek Hangout With Unbeatable Views

Skip to main content Current eater city: Los Angeles The prime rooftop of Venice's Hotel Erwin has been remolded into Kassi Venice Beach, opening on Friday, July 4, with a tight menu of Greek-inflected mezze, grilled skewers, and salads, plus a view of the Pacific Ocean. Coming from the Wish You Were Here group, which operates Elephante in Santa Monica and Belles Beach House in Venice, Kassi first opened in West Third Street back in 2019 before closing and resurfacing in Las Vegas's Virgin Hotels. There, it morphed into more of a party-like Italian American restaurant that befits Vegas. But the menu will return to its original Greek and Eastern Mediterranean flavors in Venice, operating from lunch to fairly late. On the rooftop, umbrellas encircle an elevated patch of clipped greenery, with lounge seating and dinner tables accommodating 185 diners at a time. Swaying palm trees and the shoreline offer a real island vibe as skateboarders, cyclists, and performing dancers thrive on the concrete expanse just a few blocks away on the Venice Boardwalk. Takes on Greek classics like a spanakopita quesadilla, fried zucchini chips, crispy saganaki with Fresno chile jam, and a cucumber-tomato-feta salad comprise the starters; familiar mezzes like hummus and tzatziki come with za'atar-sprinkled flat bread. Five-ounce portions of skewers feature lamb meatballs with pomegranate molasses, beef tenderloin in red chermoula, and harissa honey chicken. The food options are limited enough that decision fatigue shouldn't settle in. Kassi is as much about the drinks as it is panoramic views. Shaken sippers like the Oracle of Delphi mix tequila with watermelon, mazzura, and cucumber, while draft cocktails like honeydew thyme paloma should help the bartenders churn out boozy drinks. White and red wines lean toward Greek origins, while Bondi Brewing Co. lager hints at Mathers' and Lim's upbringings in Australia. Wish You Were Here, founded by Nick Mathers and helmed by chef Thomas Lim, seems to do these breezy spaces well, given the success of Belles and Elephante, the latter of which has expanded into other states like Arizona. Kassi should fit seamlessly into the Venice restaurant milieu, a relaxed, easygoing Greek restaurant with stunning vistas for days. Kassi Venice Beach is open Sunday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and until 12 a.m. Thursday to Saturday; it's located at 1697 Pacific Avenue, Venice, CA, 90291, with reservations on OpenTable . Tickets to the opening July 4 party, also available on OpenTable, cost $40 each. See More:

A Baccarat Rouge 540-inspired moisturizing body wash with white jasmine, red currant, and sweet amber so you can smell as ✨expensive✨ as you feel. A Catrice "Instant Awake" Under Eye Brightener so you can trick everyone around you into thinking you got the full recommended nine hours of sleep when you were actually too busy marathoning the latest season of Love Island. These come with a carrying case that, get this, display the charge on the front, so you no longer have that moment where you go out only to realize that your earbuds have run out of juice. 🪫 And a pair of wireless over-the-ear headphones because you've always wanted a pair with premium cushion padding, a built-in mic for taking calls, 10 hours of playtime per charge, and surprisingly decent noise blocking for only $20. These babies may look like the iconic AirPods Max, but they don't have that $$$$ price tag attached. A set of affordable lavender shower steamers so you can get a spa treatment from the comfort of your own sauna and de-stress in ~style~. A set of adorable pastel "unbreakable" deep plates because prettiness should never be sacrificed in the name of practicality. Just swipe it over any targeted areas you want to smooth, and this will sleek back those baby hairs without any crunch or flakes ruining your updo. KISS PowerFlex Maximum Speed Nail Glue because you're so tired of your fave press-ons snapping off after just the smallest action. Reviewers basically swear by this glue, as they say it lasts over a week and is super easy to remove, so you can still reuse those nails again and again. AND it's cheap!?! *Adds to cart* A set of eye-popping fine-point pens so your school notes and journal entries look super colorful and organized in literally the prettiest way possible. And don't worry, it doesn't bleed through paper, so it won't accidentally cover up that biology definition that is definitely on your next exam. A ~weightless~ liquid cream blush that'll give you a gorgeous, soft, dewy finish. It's easy to blend on your cheeks, and you'll fall in love with how pigmented, long-lasting, and buildable it is! AND apparently (you didn't hear this from me), it's giving Rare Beauty a run for their money *sips tea*. A set of wildly popular moisture-wicking double-brushed microfiber sheets so you can feel like you're snuggling under a pile of soft, luxurious marshmallows. Plus, these have a cooling effect so that those of you who experience night sweats or hot flashes (and seriously, where were these when I was pregnant?!) are able to slumber on in peace. Essence's "What the Fake!" Plumping Lip Filler that'll puff up your pout and give you some seriously luscious lips. These babies use vitamin E and hyaluronic acid to add some extra fullness to your lips, while also moisturizing them so they are smooth and supple. Angelina Jolie, who? A seamless, compressive ribbed bodycon jumpsuit oh-so-freakin' similar to the Skims jumpsuit that has dominated your FYP lately, but for like a fraction of the price. It's the perf 'fit for a low-impact workout, a casual outing, or simply modeling for your Insta story. No one has to know that you got it from Amazon. An adorable, roomy duffel bag incredibly similar to the Herschel's duffel (but, ya know, waterproof), that will be the perfect accessory for your weekend trip — with the added bonus of being cute enough to not clash with your perfectly curated 'fit. A bottle of Elizavecca Hair Treatment for anyone who wants a frizz-free, silky look without paying exorbitant salon prices. Just apply it to wet hair, leave in for five minutes, and say goodbye to the damaged look your hair has been sporting after years of abuse at the hands of bleach and flat irons. Many reviewers even say this is comparable (or even better) than the pricey Olaplex No.3.
