CM inaugurates LuLu Group's IT Twin Towers in SmartCity Kochi
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Saturday that the co-operation of everyone was required to ensure the development of the State.
'The State requires development, and such initiatives require the cooperation and support of everyone, including the government and the Opposition, and we are seeing it happening,' he said in his address at the inauguration of the LuLu IT Twin Towers, developed by LuLu Group, at SmartCity, Kakkanad, on Saturday (June 28, 2025). The IT complex, developed with an investment of ₹1,500 crore, comprises two identical towers with 30 floors each.
The Chief Minister said LuLu Group would invest ₹500 crore to set up an IT tower in Infopark phase-2 expansion here. It will come up in 3.5 acres and will include a 9.5-lakh-sq.ft campus. The project is expected to provide jobs to around 7,500 professionals. The government would extend all support to the project, he added.
Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan said the twin tower project reflected Kerala's growing potential in the global IT landscape. He added that such initiatives would not only create employment but also inspire confidence in Kerala as a hub for high-end innovation and encourage the return of skilled professionals to their roots, according to a release.
Yusuff Ali M.A., chairman of LuLu Group, said the project would drive re-migration by creating high-quality job opportunities for youth within Kerala. Located inside the SmartCity Kochi SEZ, the twin towers are 152 metres tall with 30 floors each. Spanning 12.74 acres, the development offers a total built-up area of 3.5 million sq.ft., including 2.5 million sq.ft. of leasable space, and is designed to accommodate over 30,000 IT professionals.
Some of the key features include 67 high-speed elevators and 12 escalators, robotic parking system with the capacity to accommodate 4,500 vehicles, on-site helipad, three-level amenity block with 2,500-seater food court, 600-seater conference hall, gym, crèche, lounges, and banking and display kiosks, it said.

Strategically located within the SmartCity Kochi SEZ, the 152-metre-tall towers are the tallest and largest IT infrastructure in South India, offering a total built-up area of 3.5 million sqft, with 2.5 million sqft of leasable space. Designed to accommodate over 30,000 IT professionals, the towers currently house four companies -- EXL, OPI, Dynamed and Selise --- which have taken up 2.5 lakh sqft. 'Kerala is transitioning into a digitally driven economy, and landmark infrastructure projects like the LuLu IT Twin Towers are vital in attracting global tech investments and generating employment for our youth. Mediapersons facing challenging times: CM Pinarayi Vijayan
KOCHI: Mediapersons working in visual and print media are facing multiple challenges with the development of information technology and the spread of social media, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Kochi on Saturday. Though they are called the protectors of democracy, mediapersons are facing challenges in their work sphere, he said while inaugurating the Journalist Welfare Fund organised by Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) in Kochi. 'As India's ranking in the World Press Freedom Index declines, there has been a decline in the rights of journalists. The anti-labour policies of the Union government add to the crisis. The government is trying to merge the Working Journalist Act with the labour code. Concerns have been raised about the fate of the Wage Board formed to ensure better remuneration for journalists,' said Pinarayi Vijayan. Congratulating the KUWJ for launching its own Welfare Fund, he termed it as the right move for survival in challenging times. The decision to support the families of journalists during difficult times reflects the compassion and care towards colleagues. Assuring that there are no insolvable issues between the government and journalists, the chief minister said the problems regarding the Journalist Pension Scheme can be solved through discussions. He also congratulated the KUWJ for launching Breaking D, a campaign against drug menace. Inaugurating Breaking D, the anti-drug campaign launched by the KUWJ, Opposition leader V D Satheesan said while the government agencies focus on enforcement, it is the duty of society to create awareness about the menace. He termed the Journalist Welfare Fund as a model that can be replicated by other organisations. It reflects the compassion and empathy of journalists towards their fellowmen, said Satheesan.

Kochi's IT future brightens with mulitple infra projects
Kochi: With several major IT infrastructure projects in the pipeline — including a new project by a private group in Infopark Phase II and the newly inaugurated IT Twin Towers in SmartCity — hopes for Kochi's IT sector are being rekindled. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, while inaugurating the Lulu IT Twin Towers on the SmartCity campus on Saturday, announced that the Lulu Group will also set up a new IT tower in Infopark Phase II, Kakkanad. The Rs 500-crore project will come up on 3.5 acres near the Brahmapuram bridge and offer 9.5 lakh square feet of built-up space. The tower is expected to generate at least 7,500 jobs, and the state govt has pledged full support for the venture. Recently, UST Global has started construction of its new campus on 8.5 acres in Infopark Phase II, which is projected to provide direct employment to around 5,000 IT and ITeS professionals. The Lulu Twin Towers itself is expected to create approximately 30,000 jobs. The launch of the Twin Towers is expected to give a revitalize the long-stalled SmartCity development. Further boosting the region's IT ecosystem, industries minister P Rajeeve recently laid the foundation stone for Geojit's IT park in Infopark Phase II. The 16-storey, 1.3 lakh square foot building is scheduled for completion within two years. Additional projects include the World Trade Centre Tower III in Infopark Phase I, a 37-acre TCS campus in Kinfra Park and V-Guard's upcoming IT park, which is nearing completion. Prestige Group's Phase II project is also under consideration in SmartCity, and Infopark's extension campus at the South Metro station is expected to begin operations soon. These developments are set to increase the current IT workforce in Infopark, SmartCity, and nearby campuses from 1 lakh to an estimated 1.5 lakh. Meanwhile, Infopark authorities are awaiting final govt clearance for a proposed third campus spanning 500 acres in Kunnathunadu panchayat. The plan, jointly initiated by Infopark and the GCDA using a land pooling model, is pending approval.
