Pistons Acquire Sharpshooter From Heat in Offseason Deal
NBA free agency has been full of deals since it began on Monday night as teams around the league try to upgrade their roster with hopes of winning a championship next season.

Among those teams are the Detroit Pistons who are coming off an incredible season that saw them go from being the worst team in the NBA to making the playoffs as the sixth seed in the East.
Unfortunately for Detroit, it has not been the best start to free agency for them as they have already lost two key players to other teams.
Dennis Schroder signed a deal with the Sacramento Kings while Tim Hardaway Jr. agreed to sign with the Denver Nuggets.

Despite losing these players, Detroit did re-sign Paul Reed and they also brought in Caris LeVert through free agency.
On Tuesday, the Pistons made another move with the Miami Heat to land another sharpshooting guard.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Duncan Robinson has agreed to a three-year, $48 million deal with the Pistons and Detroit is sending Simone Fontecchio to Miami in a sign-and-trade deal for Robinson.
This is a solid move by the Pistons as they add another sharpshooter to their second unit after losing Hardaway Jr. earlier on Tuesday.
Last season, Robinson averaged 11.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 43.7% from the field and 39.3% from three-point range.
The 31-year-old guard has spent the entirety of his seven-year NBA career with the Heat but that will change entering next season as he joins an up-and-coming Pistons team.

Robinson is a great scorer and will also give the Pistons a much-needed three-point shooter off the bench.

With the addition of both him and LeVert, it is clear that Detroit is trying to add as much depth to their roster as possible this summer as they try to take advantage of a weakened East next season.

Rockets assistant coach Royal Ivey named to Texas Athletics Hall of Honor
Assistant coach Royal Ivey is joining Kevin Durant and DJ Augustin (front office) as current Rockets who are in the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor. Houston Rockets assistant coach Royal Ivey, who previously played in college at the University of Texas and then for several NBA teams, will soon be inducted into the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor. Ivey is among 10 individuals that will be recognized as the Class of 2025 during a Sept. 12 induction ceremony in Austin. Details on the ceremony are available here. From his Texas Hall of Honor biography: A four-year starter at both point guard and shooting guard during his career at Texas, Royal Ivey left his mark as one of the top one-on-one perimeter defenders in program history. A two-time Big 12 Conference All-Defensive Team selection, he finished his collegiate career ranked first in games started (126), tied for third in games played (133), and 24th in scoring (1,036 points). Ivey helped lead the Longhorns to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including three-straight trips to the Sweet 16 (2002, 2003, and 2004) and a spot in the 2003 Final Four. In addition to Ivey's extensive NBA ties, both as a player and assistant coach, the 43-year-old was also the head coach when South Sudan secured its first-ever Olympic berth and victory during the 2024 Olympics cycle. He has been considered for NBA head coaching jobs in recent years and might soon land one, though he's returning to the staff of Ime Udoka for at least one more season in Houston. As for the Texas Hall of Honor, Ivey joins Kevin Durant and DJ Augustin as current members of the Rockets who are part of that exclusive club of Longhorns legends. Durant was acquired by trade this offseason, and Augustin is a former player who is back with Houston as a front-office member. Both Durant (2006-07) and Augustin (2006-08) also played at Texas during the 2000s decade, although a few years later than Ivey (2001-04). More: Despite external coaching inquiries, Royal Ivey likely to stay with Rockets, Ime Udoka

Former 76ers guard drawing interest from Golden State in free agency
While many of free agency's top names have already signed deals this summer, several notable players remain on the market. One of them — former Philadelphia 76ers guard De'Anthony Melton — could be headed back to the Golden State Warriors. According to Anthony Slater of ESPN, the Warriors are reportedly interested in bringing Melton back following an injury-shortened 2024-25 campaign. 'They're also looking for perimeter defense,' Slater said. 'There is mutual interest in a reunion with De'Anthony Melton, who played only six games for them last year before he tore an ACL. It was a really good fit — Steph Curry likes him.' Melton spent two years with the Sixers before joining the Warriors last season. In Philadelphia, he averaged 10.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 steals across 27.4 minutes per game in 115 regular-season appearances. MORE: 76ers linked to blockbuster trade proposal for four-time MVP LeBron James However, his time with the Warriors was cut short by an ACL injury that required season-ending surgery in November. He was later traded to the Brooklyn Nets in December as part of the Dennis Schroder trade. Now a free agent, Melton could return to Golden State, where he would likely earn meaningful playing time behind Curry and Brandin Podziemski. A strong perimeter defender and capable three-point shooter, Melton will likely have multiple suitors despite coming off the knee injury. Still, a reunion with the Warriors appears to be a logical fit. Over his seven-year NBA career, the former second-round pick has averaged 9.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 36.9 percent from three-point range in 22.4 minutes per game. MSU OL Stanton Ramil on expectations this season: 'We want to see couches burned'
Burning couches at Michigan State typically means a big win has occurred, and that's exactly what Stanton Ramil is shooting for in 2025 "We want to see couches burned, that's what we want." It's a simple message that Spartans everywhere will understand when offensive lineman Stanton Ramil was asked about he wants to see Michigan State prove this season. Ramil was one of three Michigan State players on hand for Big Ten Football Media Days on Thursday, and he made a very blunt statement on expectations for this upcoming season. He wants Michigan State football to experience enough success on the field that would invoke fans to burn couches in celebration. That's maybe not the way I personally would have put it, but as a Michigan State alum I completely understand what he is stating. Here's the full quote from Ramil -- courtesy of On3's Kenny Jordan: Here's an abbreviated clip of the comment from Ramil as well: For those not aware of the history and connection to burning couches at Michigan State, this illegal "tradition" typically occurs after a major Spartans victory in either football or basketball. The last time I can recall a notable event of couch burning occurred at Michigan State was in 2021 when the Spartans beat rival Michigan in a top 10 battle. So while I myself don't condone couch burning -- because, again, it is illegal to do so -- I love the mindset from Ramil in stating he wants to give fans something special to celebrate this fall. Could that be the Spartans beating rival Michigan in October for the first time since 2021? Could that be something more than that? Hopefully, Michigan State is able to achieve enough success this upcoming season that'll meet Ramil's expectations and goal -- just maybe this time we spare turning furniture into ashes in our celebration should this monumental win(s) come this fall.
