Attacker pulls out huge knife and lunges at young woman in London park
A party at a London park ended with dozens of screams after an attacker began swinging a large knife at a woman.
Snapchat video captured the moment the hooded perpetrator whipped out the blade in Gladstone Park, north London, on Monday.
The weapon was inches from slashing the terrified victim, as she backed away while others fled.
A man filming the attack can be heard screaming, 'She backed out a shank, are you mad?' meaning she brought out a knife.
Police officers descended on the scene just after 10pm after the video went viral on social media, but they could not locate the alleged knife-wielder or weapon, the force told Metro.
There were no reported injuries and arrests have been made.
Metro revealed that almost half of all murders in the UK over the last two years have been due to stabbings or violent incidents with a blade.
Figures show that out of the 898 recorded murders in the UK over the last three years, 443 of these murders were committed using a knife, stabbing, or a sharp instrument.
Data gathered from Freedom of Information Requests (FOI) from 38 police forces across the UK between 2022-2024 highlighted the worrying rise.
Labour says it will bring 3,000 police officers back on the streets alongside a five-step plan to 'tackle the issue 'take back our streets'.
This includes the banning of ninja swords this summer.
The sword – which has become a weapon of choice for street killers in the UK – will be banned from August 1. More Trending
The move follows tireless campaigning from the family of Ronan Kanda, who was killed on a Wolverhampton street in a case of mistaken identity in 2022.
A spokesperson for the Met Police told Metro of the Gladstone Park incident: 'On Monday at 10.30pm, police attended Gladstone Park, Brent, having been made aware of a video on social media of a woman with a knife.
'Officers saw no one who matched the description of the woman in the video.
'No one was injured, no weapons were found and no arrests were made. Enquiries continue.'

Trans woman 'covered in blood and bruises' after transphobic attack in street
An actor has spoken out after being subjected to a vicious transphobic attack by two strangers who dragged her to the ground and kicked her. Jaylin Ye, who made history as the first Chinese transgender female character to appear on British TV, was targeted outside Balham station in south west London as she returned from a screening in Soho. She described losing a 'chunk of hair' as the man and woman pulled her to the ground and kicked her repeatedly while screaming abuse. One shouted 'you f******* tranny' during the attack just after midnight on Thursday, June 26, Jaylin told her followers on Instagram. She said: 'I screamed help but unfortunately no one was there to help me. 'I lost my belongings, a chunk of my hair, and was left covered in blood and bruises. It was one of the most brutal and traumatic things I've ever experienced in my life but I am a survivor.' Jaylin, who had been returning from the screening of a friend's documentary, had her hair pulled and was pushed to the ground and dragged to the side of the road. The culprits robbed her before running away. The actor told Metro that she is recovering well and wants to raise awareness about the alarming rise of transphobic hate crime, which has more than doubled in London over the past five years, according to Metropolitan Police figures. She is especially concerned about the abuse of trans people after May's Supreme Court ruling on the definition of the word 'woman'. 'I want to use this opportunity to raise awareness because of the dramatic increase in transphobic hate crime across the UK, especially after the Supreme Court ruling,' Jaylin said. 'It's emboldened more hate against the trans community, which is completely wrong. No one should ever be attacked because of their identity, for simply being who they are. 'I couldn't imagine anyone would want to live in a society like that.' Jaylin is well known among London's queer community as a profound figure and actor, with her credits including Amazon Prime's Dead Hot, a six-part comedy thriller in which she took the part of Karis. She is thankful for the support she has received in the wake of the attack, including through a GoFundMe page which has raised almost £19,000 to help her heal from the 'brutal transphobic hate crime'. The fundraiser's organiser Matthew Morgan said his friend had been targeted 'just for existing as her beautiful self' and 'the perpetrators will not get away with it' after the incident was reported to police. Jaylin has been left fearful for her safety while going to and from the station but has drawn comfort from the massive outpouring of support. 'As much as this is a painful situation the whole community has been reaching out and really has my back,' she said. 'Everyone has been super-supportive and doing as much as they can for me, which has helped with my recovery. 'There's been an outpouring of love which has been overwhelming and I am grateful for every message, gesture and moment of support.' Police were called at 12.15am on the morning to reports of a robbery, with the victim being treated at the scene by medics. Due to comments made during the incident the matter is being investigated as a transphobic hate crime. Detective Superintendent Amanda Mawhinney, from the Met's South West Command, said: 'This was an appalling and vicious attack which we are treating as a transphobic hate crime. 'The victim went through a terrifying ordeal. She was badly assaulted, subjected to vile transphobic comments and had her bag stolen. 'We are providing her with every support and will do everything we can to find the two suspects responsible. 'Our current enquiries are focused on CCTV work in and around the area at the time of the incident and I would encourage anyone with information that could assist to please contact police.' The Met maintains that the 'vast majority' of Londoners treat each other with respect but certain sections of communities 'are subjected to deplorable abuse and harassment.' What happens next in Sean 'Diddy' Combs trial after jury reaches partial verdict
As a US jury is set to announce its verdict on Sean 'Diddy' Combs' future in the coming days after deciding on four of five counts, here is what happens next. The 55-year-old was charged with two counts of sex trafficking, one count of racketeering, and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution after he was arrested last September. He denied all allegations and pleaded not guilty. Jurors have reached a verdict on all counts except the racketeering charge. At the end of Tuesday, Judge Arun Subramania instructed the jury to continue deliberating, saying: 'I received your note that you have reached verdicts on counts two to five but not on count one. I ask at this time that you keep deliberating.' Count one is the most serious charge of racketeering – put simply, organised crime. The charge was created in the US to bring down mafia bosses, and if found guilty Combs faces a maximum sentence of life in federal prison. Racketeering conspiracy, or directing an illegal enterprise under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), is the formal name for the charge. The Government argues Combs used his business empire and network of associates to run a criminal organisation and cover up his crimes. A jury can only give a verdict on a charge if all 12 jurors agree. While a decision on the other four counts has been made, the court has not heard their verdict yet. The charge of transportation to engage in prostitution carries a maximum sentence of 10 years, while sex trafficking has a 15 years minimum sentence. Court hearings began in New York in May, with Combs' ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, and fellow rapper Kid Cudi among those taking the stand over the last few weeks. The court has heard about Combs' alleged days-long sex parties, or 'freak offs' during which he allegedly coerced multiple alleged victims into sex acts. After six weeks of testimony, the jury began their deliberations on Friday, and are so far unable to reach a unanimous verdict due to jurors with 'unpersuadable views'. Combs was arrested on September 16, 2024, and initially charged with three offences – racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs is currently being held at the courthouse having been behind bars since his September arrest at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn, New York, which was previously home to rapper R Kelly and Ghislane Maxwell. The jurors will return to the court in New York on Wednesday, July 2, at 9am New York time, which is 2pm in the UK. Friday 4 July is a federal holiday and the jury will not sit if deliberations continue until then. 'The freak offs became a job,' previously Venture told jurors, reportedly sharing that they could last up to 36 or 48 hours, with the longest one she was involved in taking four days. Those participating in the marathon sex sessions would routinely require recovery from drug use, dehydration and fatigue, it was alleged. Last year, after Ventura and Combs settled a suit in which she alleged rape and physical abuse over the course of their 11-year, on-off relationship, CCTV footage emerged of the rapper assaulting Ventura and dragging her across the floor of the InterContinental Hotel in LA. Zacariah Boulares, 18, snuck up behind the 27-year-old actor and grabbed her iPhone in the Joe & the Juice on Kensington High Street, west London, in February. The 27-year-old bravely defended herself, spinning around to grab the thief's arm while her boyfriend at the time came to her aid. Boulares put his middle finger up to members of the public gallery and was scolded by the judge before guards took him out of Isleworth Crown Court yesterday (June 1), the MailOnline reported. Boulares was prosecuted for both the attempted robbery of Chenneour, who plays Clara Livingston in the hit Netflix period drama, as well as for stealing a handbag at a Pizza Pilgrims in London's West End on January 30.
