According to the complaint, Geng and Yang's El Monte-based company, ALX Solutions Inc, was founded in 2022, shortly after the U.S. imposed sweeping export controls on technology to China and began to require licenses for the chips.
A spokesperson for Nvidia declined comment.

Records show that from at least August 2023 to July 2024, ALX Solutions bought over 200 Nvidia H100 chips from San Jose, Calif-based server maker Super Micro Computer, declaring that the end users were in Singapore and Japan.
Super Micro did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In addition to Nvidia's H100s, the pair are accused of illegally shipping Nvidia video graphics cards known as PNY GE Force RTX 4090, which also require a license for export to China.
Geng and Yang appeared in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles late Monday, according to the Justice Department. Geng, a permanent resident, was released on $250,000 bond. Yang, who overstayed her visa, has a detention hearing on August 12.

The Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly proposes to hold a brief training session to train the legislators about artificial intelligence (AI) that will help them have special AI teams to try out smart tools that help with legal research, document checking and studying policies. The training session is likely to help the legislators in setting up AI support units. AI can help write new laws and bills, spot legal problems and draw comparisons with laws in other states or countries. Assembly speaker Satish Mahana, who presided over a meeting convened to review security arrangements for the monsoon session of the state legislative assembly commencing here on August 11, said the training session has been organised on August 10. He said experts from IIT Kanpur would impart training in the AI to the MLAs and interact with them in nearly two-hour training sessions. Mahana said the state legislative assembly's app would have an AI base. He said besides recognising the members at the entry points and marking their attendance, the AI will also help the members in finding appropriate reference material for their speech in the house. 'The backup for the proceedings of the house will also be connected to AI backup and this will help the members in finding excerpts on any issue from their own speech or from the proceedings. The members will also be able to go through the important debates in the house,' Mahana added. He said the state legislative assembly would see five new upgrades in the monsoon session. These include a new chandelier at the main entrance, another large one under the dome of Vidhan Sabha hall, a renovated room that is the venue of business advisory committee meetings and a new canteen of the house. The training session is likely to help the legislators in setting up AI support units. Use bank app to verify a/c balance: Kotak after UPI glitch
MUMBAI: Kotak Bank has advised customers to use its mobile banking app or net banking platforms to check account balances after reports of a Delhi-based individual seeing a 37-digit balance through a third-party UPI app emerged. In a statement, the bank said media reports suggesting an unusually large balance were incorrect. It urged customers to verify account details using the bank's own digital channels. According to reports, the customer accessed the balance through the Navi UPI app, which allows users to view and operate linked bank accounts without logging in to the bank's platforms. When customers install a third-party UPI app, they link bank accounts by verifying the mobile number registered with the bank and setting a UPI PIN. The app connects with the customer's bank through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) provided by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Each account is assigned a Virtual Payment Address, which acts as a proxy for account details. For any transaction or balance inquiry, the UPI app sends the request to NPCI's central switch, which routes it to the bank. The bank processes the request - debiting the account for payments or providing real-time balance data - and responds back. With demand for AI chips growing rapidly, the company expects a sharp boost in sales. It's also rolling out new AI hardware that could shake up the competition. But at the same time, trade restrictions and export delays still hover over its roadmap, especially in China. AMD revenue beats estimates despite earnings slip For Q2 2025, AMD posted adjusted earnings of 48 cents per share, just under the expected 49 cents.
