85 appointments letters distributed at Rozgar Mela in Rajkot
In the 16th edition of the National Rozgar Mela, held in Rajkot on Saturday, 85 appointment letters were handed out to candidates for jobs in various government departments. Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs and Bhavnagar-Botad MP Nimuben Bambhaniya distributed the letters. Kishan Reddy highlights youth's role in building Viksit Bharat
Hyderabad, July 12 (UNI) Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy today highlighted the crucial role of India's youth in realising the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Viksit Bharat 2047' Speaking at the 16th Rozgar Mela at Rail Kalarang in Secunderabad, he congratulated the 51,000 newly appointed youth across India and urged them to play a key role in building a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047. He said the Modi government has so far provided over 10.5 lakh government jobs through Rozgar Melas and is committed not just to creating jobs but also empowering youth to become job creators. Citing the success of Startup India, he noted that over 1.60 lakh startups have generated 17.6 lakh jobs, especially in smaller towns, reducing the need to migrate for employment. Highlighting women's participation, he said 68 per cent of 52 crore Mudra loans were given to women and over 1 crore women are now earning above Rs 1 lakh annually under the Lakhpati Didi scheme. Women's labour force participation has grown from 23 per cent in 2017–18 to 41.7 per cent in 2023–24, with unemployment among women dropping to 3.2 per cent. On the skilling front, he said 1.6 crore youth have been trained under the PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana, including in emerging sectors like AI, drones, and cybersecurity. A National Skill Training Institute will be set up in Hyderabad with Rs 1,000 crore. He also mentioned paid internships in top 500 companies and a push to create 3.5 crore new jobs in the next two years through employment-linked incentives. He highlighted that India now has the third-largest startup ecosystem, is leading globally in digital transactions, and ranks second in internet usage. The country is now self-reliant in defence production, manufacturing battle tanks, missiles, and submarines domestically. Calling the youth India's greatest strength, Kishan Reddy said that with their dedication and the government's support, no one can stop the country's rise. In his concluding remarks, Kishan Reddy urged the newly appointed government employees to remember the contributions of their parents and teachers and to serve the country with dedication and responsibility. He said that if the sincerity of the youth is matched with the government's initiatives, India's progress will be unstoppable. These courses are designed to align with evolving technological changes and promote leadership in academia and industry. Additionally, IIT Madras has introduced new admission categories aimed at recognising students with proven achievements in sports and fine arts, thereby broadening access and inclusivity. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has introduced new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes from the academic year 2025–26, aimed at strengthening student preparation for emerging technologies and industry-academia leadership. In addition, the institute has formalised new admission categories for candidates with demonstrated excellence in sports and fine arts. IIT-M launched five new degree programmes this year across the undergraduate and postgraduate levels: BS (Chemistry): This four-year programme, with an optional upgrade to MS, will admit students via the IISER Aptitude Test. It combines theoretical learning with laboratory experience, offering opportunities for research projects, interdepartmental collaboration, and minor specialisations such as Data Science. MTech in Electric Vehicles: Admission to this interdisciplinary, industry-aligned programme will be through GATE. It focuses on the full electric mobility ecosystem, preparing students through coursework, lab sessions, internships, and research in electric vehicle subsystems. BTech in Computational Engineering and Mechanics (CEM): To be offered by the Department of Applied Mechanics and Biomedical Engineering, this programme integrates classical engineering knowledge with modern computational and AI tools. Admission is through JEE. BTech in Instrumentation and Biomedical Engineering (iBME): Also offered by the same department, this programme trains students in medical device development, rehabilitation technology, and AI-driven healthcare solutions. Admission is through JEE. Both BTech programmes, CEM and iBME, also allow students to upgrade to five-year Dual Degree options under the Interdisciplinary Dual Degree (IDDD) framework. These include Computational Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Complex Systems and Dynamics. IIT Madras has launched the Fine Arts and Culture Excellence (FACE) admission route for undergraduate programmes beginning 2025–26. The FACE category is designed for students who have achieved distinction in fine arts and cultural activities. Admissions under this category will take place via a dedicated portal at and not through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). The Sports Excellence Admission (SEA), launched in the 2024–25 academic year, is aimed at recognising and enabling students who have excelled in sports to pursue technical education alongside their athletic pursuits. Both categories will reserve two seats per BTech and BS programme, one female-only and one gender-neutral.
