Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Unveiled As Pace Car For 109th Indy 500
The Corvette ZR1 is capable of 233 mph, the highest top speed of any car ever made in America by an auto manufacturer. It will lead the field to the green flag for the 109th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday, May 25 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
This year's Indy 500 Pace Car was unveiled on Tuesday, April 29 at the IMS, continuing an impressive tradition for the Chevrolet Corvette and the world's most famous race.
'As we anticipate another record-breaking Indianapolis 500, it's only fitting that record- breaking Corvette will pace the field,' IMS President J. Douglas Boles said. 'The performance of the Corvette ZR1 is second to none and is a prime example of that Chevrolet innovation.'
Corvette is the longest-running car nameplate in automotive industry history, so it's no surprise Corvette has paced 'The Greatest Spectacle in Racing' more times than any car. The 2025 race marks the 36th time for Chevrolet to pace the Indianapolis 500 dating back to 1948 and the 22nd time overall, since 1978 for America's favorite sports car.
Designed for speed and performance, the Corvette ZR1 is up for any challenge, and the exterior and interior of the Corvette ZR1 will be on full display as the car fulfills responsibilities on and off the track.
Michael Strahan, a Pro Football Hall of Fame member, two-time Daytime Emmy Award winner, longtime 'FOX NFL Sunday' analyst and 'Good Morning America' co-host, has been named honorary Pace Car driver and will pace the field of 33 drivers in the Corvette ZR1 to start this year's Indianapolis 500.
'Chevrolet is proud that the 2025 Corvette ZR1, our fastest Corvette ever, will be the official pace car for the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500,' said Scott Bell, Global Chevrolet Vice President. 'With a top speed of 233 miles per hour, the Corvette ZR1 is the perfect fit to lead the Indy 500 field to green."
By comparison, Team Penske driver and last year's Indy 500 pole winner Scott McLaughlin, had the fastest speed in last week's two-day Indy 500 Open test at 232.686 miles per hour around the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval.
Speeds are expected to surpass that when Indianapolis 500 practice and qualifications begin on May 13 with Fast Friday on May 16, and qualification weekend on Saturday May 17 and Sunday May 18.
The Corvette ZR1 delivers 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 rpm from a 5.5 liter twin-turbo V8, which is the most power ever from a factory Corvette and the most powerful V8 ever produced in America from an auto manufacturer.
For Pace Car duty, the ZR1 is equipped with the Carbon Aero package, including dive planes on the front bumper, underbody aero strakes and the rear wing, which creates more than 1,200 pounds of downforce at top speeds.
The Corvette ZR1 achieves incredible acceleration – capable of zero to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds before rushing through the quarter mile in 9.6 seconds at 150 mph, making it the quickest Corvette ever.
Arctic White exterior paint and Jet Black interior accents pair with the Indianapolis 500 logos on the Pace Car. The jewel tone, emerald green and gold of the logo are highlighted in racing stripes and additional exterior design elements. Carbon fiber wheels complete the car's iconic, race-ready look.

'Game On:' Ford CEO Responds to the Corvette's Nürburgring Record
The Ford Mustang GTD only held the record for the fastest American car to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife for a little over 7 months. Ford announced a 6:57.685 lap back in December , and bettered it with a 6:52.07 a few months later , but Chevrolet just took the crown with the Corvette ZR1 and ZR1X. Ford's response? "Game on." That came directly from CEO Jim Farley, who replied "[c]ongrats to the Corvette team. Game on!" on an Instagram post from the official Corvette page. The Drive was the first to bring our attention to Farley's comment. Ford could go back to the 'Ring with the Mustang GTD, but that car is at somewhat of a disadvantage to the ZR1 and ZR1X. The Mustang GTD weighs over 4,300 pounds based on EPA documents that Road & Track reported on back in February, while Car and Driver measured the ZR1 at 3,831 pounds. Chevy hasn't revealed a weight figure for the ZR1X, but it's reasonable to expect it to eclipse the 4,000-pound mark. The Mustang GTD has 815 horsepower, which is a lot, but the ZR1 makes 1,064 hp, and the ZR1X ups it to 1,250 hp. Power and weight figures aren't everything, but they do count for a ton. Still, the GTD has a very advanced suspension system, huge Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, and an extremely advanced aero package that includes a Formula 1-style drag-reduction system to stall the wing on straights. In any case, we don't know if Ford has anything planned. Farley surely wants to take back the record—he's a racer himself and he's pushing performance hard with the Mustang—but Ford isn't going to go to the 'Ring unless it knows it at least has a chance of beating the Corvette's time. There could be more time in the GTD, but Ford may also need to wait until it has its next, greatest thing to beat Chevy. Batmobile Replica For Sale Lets You Live Your Gotham Fantasies
Batman and Gotham City may be fictional DC Comics creations, but that doesn't mean you can't live out your superhero fantasies with a Batmobile of your own. This particular one is for sale on Exotic Car Trader, and you can check out the listing by clicking here. This Batmobile is built on the chassis of a 1994 Chevrolet Caprice LS and is titled as a 1994 Chevrolet. If you're curious as to why a Caprice was chosen as the base of this, the real Batmobile used two Chevrolet Impala chassis spliced together, resulting in a car that was about 20 feet long. Under the hood of this one is a reportedly new 305 cu in V8 engine mated to a new 700R4 automatic transmission, whereas the movie car used a 327 cu in V8. The 305 V8 sports a Holley EFI Sniper system that can be controlled from a screen within the cabin. Underneath is a new suspension with a new Wilwood dual master brake system, which includes new rotors, pads, calipers, and lines. Looks-wise, it's as close as you can get without being a certified movie prop. Based on the model introduced in Tim Burton's Batman and Batman Returns movies and driven by Michael Keaton, it comes complete with the satin black paint job, movie-correct lighting, pulsating side jet turbines, machine guns, and even a flamethrower that can shoot 8-foot flames behind the car. All four corners sit on airbags, so you can ride low and slow as The Caped Crusader to your local cars and coffee. Oh, and yes, it's all street legal. Thinking about selling your car? The cabin features Recaro seats, a carbon fiber dashboard, a carbon fiber wrap, a touchscreen console, and all of the gauges, dials, knobs, and lights that you could want, with some indicating vital car stats like oil pressure and temperature. Unlike Batman, you can bask in the luxury of air conditioning, Bluetooth audio, and the seven exterior cameras that I'm sure are much needed with something of this size. Better yet, a separate battery runs all of the lights and special effects, so you can flex in peace without worrying that you won't be able to drive away at the end of the show. I'm not a particularly massive Batman aficionado, but I can recognize a good replica when I see one, and this is it. Everything from the curves to the wings to the lights to the cabin is damn impressive and a clear indicator that money was no object when this Batmobile was built. I was fortunate enough to see one of the authorized Batmobiles at the Petersen Automotive Museum, and if you put the two next to each other, I couldn't tell the difference. The fact that the turbines pulse and that the rear jet can shoot eight-foot flames from the back is just the icing on top of the bat-shaped sundae. As you would expect, something of this magnitude won't sell for cheap, but the $275,000 asking price might be reasonable if you live and breathe Batman and a perfect Batmobile replica is just what you need in your driveway.
