Charlize Theron explains why she hasn't named director who allegedly sexually harassed her

Yahoo2 days ago
Charlize Theron has opened up about her decision not to name the director who allegedly sexually harassed her.
In April 2019, the South African actress alleged that she had been sexually harassed by a director at the start of her career in 1994. However, she has never disclosed his identity publicly.
On Wednesday's episode of Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, Charlize explained that she does not believe she will ever reveal the director's name.
"I've never said his name because, honestly, I don't want the story to be about him," the 49-year-old said. "It's not because I'm protecting him or anything."
The Mad Max: Fury Road star went on to claim that the director was "nervous" when she first went public with her accusation in an interview on The Howard Stern Show.
"He knew it was about him, and he wrote me a pretend letter trying to explain his behaviour and how I must have misunderstood it, which is classic, isn't it? It's so classic," Charlize told host Alex, adding that she believes the director "panicked".
"I won't even f**king say your name because you know you're the scumbag. You know it's you," she continued. "If anybody ever asked me about him, I would be completely honest - and he knows that. I kind of like that he's got to be on a hot seat. He doesn't know when it's going to come. I kind of like that a little more."
She shared that she attended a casting call at the director's house one Saturday night back when she was a model, even though a "little voice inside" of her wasn't sure about the idea.
When she first made her claims public, The Old Guard actress said the director was wearing pyjamas during what she thought was a casting audition. After trying to make conversation with her, he allegedly placed his hand on her knee, after which she stood up and left.
In the new interview, Charlize confessed that she was "furious" at herself for not doing more at the time.

Marvel's X-MEN Reboot Rumored to Feature Three Major Villains and Magneto Isn't One of Them — GeekTyrant

It might be time for Marvel fans to start rethinking their expectations for the X-Men 's MCU debut. A new rumor is shaking things up suggesting that the reboot won't center around Magneto as the main villain. Marvel might be holding back their most iconic mutant villain in favor of some long-overdue spotlight on other major villains. The scoop comes from insider Alex Perez during a recent Q&A on Discord via The Cosmic Circus, and if it turns out to be true, we're in for something very different. According to Perez, the MCU's X-Men reboot will introduce three primary antagonists: Mister Sinister, Senator Robert Kelly, and Bolivar Trask. All three of these names should ring a bell if you're faimiliar with the comics or even Fox's earlier X-Men movies. Let's start with Senator Robert Kelly. In the comics and 2000's X-Men , he's a fear-mongering politician who builds his career by stoking fear of mutants. While the Fox films ultimately gave him a redemption arc, a reinvented MCU version could lean harder into his role as a symbol of institutional oppression. Picture him working alongside Bolivar Trask, the scientist responsible for creating the Sentinels—giant mutant-hunting machines with major dystopian vibes. Peter Dinklage played Trask in Days of Future Past , but there's plenty more to explore there. Then there's Mister Sinister, aka Nathaniel Essex. Sinister has been teased in the X-Men film franchise, he never actually showed up. He's a centuries-old geneticist obsessed with perfection, a puppet master pulling strings behind the scenes of mutant history. Fans have long hoped for Mad Men 's Jon Hamm to take on the role. It would be cool if that finally happened. Avengers: Doomsday will feature Ian McKellen reprising his Magneto one last time. But that film marks the end of the Multiverse Saga, clearing the path for a fresh X-Men era. Magneto's had his time to shine. Between McKellen and Fassbender, audiences know him well. So it makes sense that Marvel might let him sit this one out, or at least move him to the side, for now. Giving Mister Sinister, Kelly, and Trask center stage offers a chance to explore fresh, socially relevant conflicts. Marvel's X-Men reboot doesn't have a release date yet, but I would love to see the film dive into the deeper, weirder, and more sinister corners of mutant stoylines.

John Cena Speaks Out on COYOTE VS. ACME Being Saved: 'I'm Glad It's Out of the Dusty Box' — GeekTyrant

For a while it looked like Coyote vs. Acme would be another casualty of WB's corporate write-offs, but after months of fans rallying and behind the scenes wrangling, the animated/live-action hybrid film is officially back on track for a theatrical release. Now, star John Cena is finally opening up about what it feels like to see the project pulled back from the brink. Speaking with ScreenRant, Cena shared how rewarding it was to see Coyote vs. Acme finally get the shot it deserves. 'Rewarding, certainly for everybody a part of the project. Anytime you put your heart and soul into something and it gets shelved, it is tough. Again, it ain't my sandbox, so I completely understand those decisions, but the fact that companies could talk together and the movie could get shown. 'We do what we do to try to entertain, and I know the audiences that were able to see Coyote vs. Acme were entertained. So hopefully that audience grows larger… I just saw it for the first time very recently. It's a bunch of fun and man, I'm glad it's out of the dusty box.' For those who've followed the story, it's been a frustrating ride. Coyote vs. Acme is a finished film from Warner Bros. that was quietly canceled last year, written off for tax purposes just like Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt . What made this one sting even more is that it was reportedly good. Test screenings scored high, and the cast, which includes Cena and SNL alum Will Forte, were proud of what they made. But none of that seemed to matter until Ketchup Entertainment stepped in, securing the film's rights with a nearly $50 million deal and giving it a second chance. Forte, who's been one of the more vocal voices on the matter, didn't mince words when discussing how it felt to watch the project be cast aside. 'My thoughts are that it's f-cking bullsh-t. It is such a delightful movie. It deserves so much better…I can't tell you possibly why the decision was made to not release it, but it makes my blood boil. I don't want people to forget what they did to us.' But now that the film is officially back, Forte's tone has shifted, at least a little. 'I never thought it would happen so it just came out of nowhere and I'm so thrilled. Thank you Ketchup Entertainment, I'm so excited for people to see this movie. I'm gonna promote the crap out of it, just tell me what you want me to do and I'll go, I'll do whatever — go to the top of Mount Everest, I'm there.' Still, even with the comeback, Forte made sure to underline the emotional toll the shelving took on the cast and crew: 'Don't let us make this thing that we fall in love with and then not show it,' he said. There's no official release date yet, but with distribution locked in and stars like Cena and Forte ready to go full Road Runner on the promo trail, it's only a matter of time before Coyote vs. Acme finally gets its moment.
