One in five Britons splash out on concerts as Oasis spearheads a summer of top live acts
One in five adults are spending money on concerts this summer as fans flock to see shows such as Oasis, according to Barclays. Those surveyed said they would spend an average of £160.80 in total each on music events this summer. Spending on live music grew 2.5 per cent last month, compared to the year before. This helped to lift otherwise lacklustre spending on hospitality and leisure by 2.1 per cent. It is set to be a blockbuster summer for cinemas too. Popular releases, including Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, helped spending in this sector rise 26.9 per cent.
