A lot is happening at Aston Martin apart from the action on track. In the latest development, rumors started floating around Fernando Alonso over his frequent visits to Alpine's area during the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
But before the speculations could catch more fire, Aston Martin Team Principal Andy Cowell laughed it off and expressed faith in Alonso's commitment to remain a part of the team until 2026 and maybe beyond.
Is Fernando Alonso planning a return to Alpine?
Rumors around Fernando Alonso's interest in Alpine began circulating when Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft drew attention to the Aston Martin driver's frequent visits to Alpine's hospitality suite. Croft said, 'Is something going on that could see Fernando Alonso back at Enstone again for a fourth time? Watch this space on that one, that's just the paddock rumour.'
Alonso was part of Alpine in 2021–22, and the rumor suggested that he was planning to go back to the team amid his struggles at Aston Martin.
When asked about Alonso venturing into Alpine's garage so frequently and casually, Aston Martin Team Principal Andy Cowell told Sky Sports, 'I'm happy for Fernando to wander into any garage. He knows lots of people up and down the pit lane.'
He further added about Alonso's future at the team, 'I'm also happy with the fact that he's contracted to us next year and hopefully will stay with us long term as an ambassador with us.
It's great working with Fernando, it's always good to have a competitive person that pushes just like you used to [Rosberg] at Mercedes and pushes the team on and galvanises the team.'
Fernando Alonso's future at Aston Martin
Aston Martin hopes to turn the tables in 2026 when the new regulations are put in place, from which they intend to benefit, with their new technical director Adrian Newey putting in his best to create the best car for 2026.
Fernando Alonso recently told the media, including RacingNews365.com, "It has been challenging, but we have understood and we know the problem in the car now, but we cannot put too much focus into solving the problem."
He further said, "Even if there is a change in regulations, we need to somehow find better performance with this year's car, and we need to be better. Even if we had a fast car now, there are a couple of areas we need to keep improving, so we are trying to use 2025 to tackle these and be ready for [Newey] as well."

NFL legend Aaron Rodgers at risk of midseason exit in Pittsburgh, critics claim
Steelers sign Aaron Rodgers, but midseason exit is being predicted (Image via: Getty Images) Aaron Rodgers' move to the Pittsburgh Steelers is already stirring controversy. The 40-year-old quarterback signed a one-year deal to chase one last Super Bowl, but some insiders believe his time in black and gold might not even last the full season. Critics warn this could be a short and turbulent ride for the NFL legend. NFL veteran predicts Aaron Rodgers' time in Pittsburgh could end early Aaron Rodgers is officially a Pittsburgh Steeler, aiming to close out his career with a final playoff push. But not everyone is confident it'll go as planned. Former Steelers linebacker James Harrison publicly suggested that Rodgers could be cut before the season ends if Pittsburgh struggles out of the gate. 'If they start losing and it's looking like they ain't gonna make above .500, I think it gets real ugly, real fast,' Harrison said. According to NFL analyst Phil Simms, he's in peak physical condition and has reshaped his body for one final push. But critics argue the move came too late. Short-term Rodgers deal could derail Steelers' long-term plans The biggest concern surrounding the Rodgers signing is its impact on the Steelers' long-term quarterback plans. ESPN's Ryan Clark labeled it a worst-case scenario, predicting Rodgers will keep the team just competitive enough to miss out on drafting a franchise quarterback in 2025. With top QB prospects like Shedeur Sanders and Carson Beck expected to be available, Pittsburgh could be sacrificing its future for a short-term shot at relevance. If the team hovers around the .500 mark, they might neither contend for a title nor land a top draft pick. Behind the scenes, rookie quarterback Will Howard is quietly preparing. Rodgers has taken him under his wing, and many inside the organization view him as a potential future starter. If Rodgers is injured or cut, Howard could take over and get valuable in-game experience. Broncos could reunite Sean Payton with Taysom Hill in 2025
Taysom Hill could reunite with Sean Payton in Denver (Image via: Getty Images) The Denver Broncos may finally have a shot at reuniting Sean Payton with Taysom Hill. The versatile playmaker, long connected to Denver, could become available if the New Orleans Saints cut him this offseason. With the Broncos in need of offensive weapons, Hill's unique skill set could make him the perfect fit for Payton's 2025 game plan. Taysom Hill could be the missing piece in Sean Payton's 2025 offense The Denver Broncos have long been linked to Taysom Hill, the do-it-all weapon who rose to prominence under Sean Payton with the New Orleans Saints. Though Hill has stayed in New Orleans until now, multiple reports suggest he may be on the chopping block this offseason. Bleacher Report's Alex Kay believes that if Hill is cut, every NFL team should be interested. The Saints would save $10 million in cap space, and Hill's reduced role makes his release a realistic possibility. Denver Broncos Potentially Reuniting Taysom Hill With Sean Payton Is Risky David Latham of Last Word on Sports believes a Payton-Hill reunion would benefit both parties. 'Nobody loves Taysom Hill more than Sean Payton, so it only makes sense these two reunite away from the Saints,' Latham noted. " Hill's true value lies in his versatility—tight end, quarterback, runner, special teams contributor. He excels in short-yardage and red-zone scenarios, with the ability to throw, run, or block depending on the situation. His unpredictability creates constant headaches for opposing defenses.
