In a scathing criticism of the ongoing road expansion works, Venkanna pointed out glaring inconsistencies in road width—78 feet in some areas, 85 in others, and even 95 feet in a few places. He alleged that these discrepancies reflect favoritism and political targeting. Vowing to challenge the injustice, he announced his intention to approach the High Court, asserting his faith in the judicial system.

The controversy deepened when former Munugode MLA Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy visited the demolition site the following day. Accompanied by BRS party leaders and local supporters, he labeled the act as a deliberate political vendetta, allegedly masterminded by current MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy.
Prabhakar Reddy accused the ruling MLA of failing to secure even a single rupee of development funds for Chundur. In contrast, he touted his own track record of bringing Rs50 crore in municipal grants during his tenure.
Bring development, not demolitions: BRS to Rajgopal Reddy
BRS leaders used the incident to challenge Rajgopal Reddy's leadership. 'If you have the courage, bring development to Chundur instead of targeting opposition workers,' said Prabhakar Reddy, accusing the MLA of misusing his power for political revenge.
With legal challenges, public protests, and mounting political friction on the horizon, the midnight demolition may well be the beginning of a larger showdown in Chundur's civic and political landscape.

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday announced that local body elections will be held soon in the state and urged Congress workers to be prepared. It's not as easy to bring Godavari water here as pouring soda into a glass. The BRS failed to complete pending projects in Nalgonda and bring Godavari water.' He stated that the Congress government would provide Godavari water to Thungathurthi through the Devadula Project, Package-6. Criticising the BRS over the Kaleshwaram project, Revanth said, 'That project has collapsed. Compare it with projects built by previous Congress governments. KHAMMAM: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday accused the previous BRS government of remaining indifferent when Andhra Pradesh drew 11 tmcft of water from the upstream Srisailam reservoir, impacting water availability in Telangana. He noted that this led to the Nagarjunasagar Left canal's inability to release even one tmcft of water. Speaking to the media at Palair in Khammam district, alongside Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy after commissioning under tunnel works of Nagarjunasagar Left Canal and releasing water for crops, Vikramarka credited past Congress governments for their visionary irrigation projects. These projects, he said, ensured abundant water supply for the state. He accused the BRS of failing to protect the state's water interests despite its financial strength, burdening citizens with poor decisions. The Congress government, he said, was now taking decisive steps to secure Telangana's rightful share of Krishna and Godavari waters and complete pending irrigation projects. Vikramarka said that the BRS's flawed decisions, particularly with regard to the construction of the Rayalaseema Lift Project upstream of Srisailam by AP government, have caused severe water shortage in Khammam district and partial shortage in Nalgonda district. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced that water has been released from the Palair reservoir to irrigate Nagarjunasagar ayacut area. He recalled that heavy rains in early September last year caused flooding in Khammam, breaching parts of the Nagarjunasagar main canal and several canals, which were swiftly repaired. At present, water flow was 400 cusecs, with plans to increase this further within five days.

Telangana govt to fill 1 lakh job vacancies by mid-2026: CM Revanth Reddy
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday said his government would fill one lakh job vacancies by June 2026, before it completes two-and-a-half years in office. Addressing a public meeting in Nalgonda district after launching distribution of new ration (PDS) cards, he said the Congress government has set a record in the country by recruiting 60,000 people within a year of assuming office (in December, 2023). He criticised the previous BRS regime for not filling government vacancies for 10 years, forcing thousands of unemployed youth to spend years preparing for competitive exams in Hyderabad. 'Today, I am giving my word. We will provide one lakh government jobs before this government completes two and a half years (June, 2026) and make their (job aspirants) families live with self-respect,' Reddy said. He wondered whether the opposition BRS thought of distributing new ration cards to the poor in its 10-year-long rule. Highlighting the Congress government's pro-poor and pro-farmers schemes, he said the dispensation ensured implementation of 'Rythu Bharosa' investment support scheme, crop loan waiver, MSP, distribution of fine rice through PDS against coarse rice and new ration cards. The TDP (1999-2004) and Congress (2004-2014) in undivided Andhra Pradesh and the BRS (2014-2023, December) in Telangana were in power for 10 years each, he said. The CM said Congress would remain in power for 10 years (from December, 2023 to 2034) and reiterated his government's goal of transforming Telangana into a USD one trillion economy by 2035. On the caste survey and SC classification undertaken by his government, Reddy asserted that 42 per cent reservation would be provided to backward classes in local body polls as per the recent cabinet decision. This, he said, was the promise made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Earlier, in a post on X, he said 5.61 lakh new ration cards are being distributed, ensuring food security for 3.10 crore people across Telangana.
