Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has ordered the administrative closure of a restaurant following serious food safety violations.
The restaurant, Mahashi Time Restaurant, located in Mohammed Bin Zayed City, East 9, was shut down after being found in breach of Law No. (2) of 2008, which regulates food safety in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, along with its accompanying executive regulations.
In a statement shared via social media, the authority said the restaurant, operating under trade license number CN-2205120, was engaged in practices that posed a direct threat to public health, prompting immediate enforcement action.
ADAFSA emphasised that such violations compromise food hygiene and consumer safety. The authority reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all food establishments in the emirate meet the highest safety and hygiene standards. The public is urged to report suspected food safety violations via ADAFSA's official channels.

The authority emphasised that the closure order will remain in effect until the violations are rectified and that the establishment may resume work only after fully addressing all issues and complying with all food safety requirements. ADAFSA urged the public to report any violations observed in food establishments or suspicions regarding food products by calling the toll-free Abu Dhabi Government number 800555 so that inspectors take necessary actions to ensure safe and healthy food.

Cocobona Cafeteria, with commercial licence number CN- 3952783 was closed for violating Food Law No. (2) of 2008 in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, Adafsa said. The authority added that the decision to administratively close the establishment was taken because its practices posed a serious risk to public health. Adafsa clarified that the food control report indicated that the administrative closure decision was issued due to repeated food safety violations and the failure to implement effective corrective measures, necessitating an immediate intervention to safeguard food safety and consumer health. The authority conducts regular checks of eateries and restaurants in the emirate, often shutting down places that are not operating up to local standards or violating food-related health and safety laws.

The accreditation was granted by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) after ADAFSA met all stringent international accreditation represents global recognition of ADAFSA's competency in providing proficiency testing services, which are a fundamental tool for ensuring the quality and reliability of laboratory diagnostics for camel diseases. It enhances accuracy and efficiency standards while bridging gaps in specialised measurement programmes within this line with this achievement, Biosecurity Affairs Division at ADAFSA—internationally recognised by World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) as a Collaborating Centre for Camel Diseases and a Collaborating Centre for Quality Management Systems—has launched the world's first proficiency programme for evaluating laboratories' efficiency in detecting antibodies for Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) in camels. This programme focuses on improving validation processes for diagnostic kits used in antibody detection, supporting global efforts to combat and eradicate the initiatives reflect ADAFSA's commitment to supporting national and international laboratories in developing precise laboratory diagnostics for camel diseases, ensuring high-quality results on a global scale. This latest achievement raises the total number of global certifications obtained by ADAFSA to 15, reinforcing its leadership in food security and animal disease control, particularly camel diseases, and strengthening its scientific status as a global reference centre in this domain. Notably, ADAFSA's Collaborating Centre for Camel Diseases, established in May 2022 and recognised by WOAH, serves as an authoritative scientific body in diagnosing and studying camel diseases. It offers advanced diagnostic, research, and training services in collaboration with leading international institutions. This accreditation further cements Abu Dhabi and the UAE's position as a leading hub for animal health and biosecurity.
