Tyson Fury insider drops boxing return hint as Gyspy King told how long he'll need to prepare for Anthony Joshua

Daily Record02-05-2025
Joseph Parker is in no doubt that Fury still has what it takes to compete at the top end of the heavyweight division
Joseph Parker believes Tyson Fury would only need 'six to eight weeks' to get himself back into the fighting shape required for a long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua.
The two-time heavyweight world champion seemingly hung up his boxing gloves for good back in January following two consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk but earlier his week teased fans that a return to the ring is imminent.

Joshua is searching for an opponent later this year as he looks to bounce back from his devastating knockout loss to Daniel Dubois last September.

His promoter Eddie Hearn insists that they are more than willing to come to the table for the highly-anticipated heavyweight dust-up but has also stated that the onus is on Fury to make it happen.
And according to the Gypsy King's close pal and training partner Parker - a former WBO world champion himself - the 36-year-old would be back and ready to rock with Joshua in no time.
Speaking to Metro via CasinoHawks - who offer the latest UK casino sites, he said: "Tyson Fury has had the more recent fight over Anthony Joshua, therefore Joshua has been out longer.
"In my opinion, if they keep themselves fit – it shouldn't take that long to get you ready to fight.
"You have sparring, work with your coach, your road runs, pad work and that should take you between six to eight weeks.
"Tyson Fury has done everything there is to do in the sport. He has made a lot of money and is now spending a lot of quality time with his family.

'If he does want to return, he can. A lot of people would still like to see him fight.
"He is an entertainer and says a lot of things to get people's attention.

"If it's a fight with Joshua or Usyk, I'm sure a lot of people will be dying to see these fights.
Parker himself is hoping to land another crack at the world title and is desperate to fight the winner of the undisputed showdown between Usyk and Dubois at Wembley in July.
He added: "It's great to have these reports that tell you you're going to be the mandatory challenger.
"However, if we can expand on it and get something solid and locked in where I will be able to fight the winner it will be fantastic and a dream come true. I hope it can happen and come through.
"I would like to fight sometime soon and keep busy. I know every fight is a risk where you may win and may lose. I want to keep fighting, progressing and keep busy.
"Hopefully we can get a fight very soon so I can get into camp, keep progressing and keep the good flow going."

Tyson Fury claims he will NEVER return to boxing just weeks after reversing latest retirement

Tyson Fury has claimed he is "too old" to return to boxing and will "never" fight again, despite announcing his plans to come out of retirement and face Oleksandr Usyk last month Tyson Fury has claimed he will "never" fight again, just weeks after it was announced that he was planning to return to the ring. Fury announced his retirement from boxing in January after suffering a second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk. ‌ It was the fourth time Fury has retired from the sport and Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh confirmed last month that the 36-year-old was set to come out of retirement. ‌ Alalshikh said: "The 'Gypsy King' will be back!!! I talked with him, and I have his word to have him in Riyadh Season in 2026. We have a rabbit to hunt!" ‌ Fury then claimed there were plans for him to have a trilogy fight against Usyk at Wembley Stadium on April 18 2026. However, Fury has now backtracked when asked about his comeback during an appearance at Doncaster Racecourse. When asked when he plans to fight again, Fury told Sky Sports: "Never. Really! Too old, look at my beard, all grey. Boxing's a young man's game." The boxer was at Doncaster Racecourse to film a segment for his fly-on-the-wall documentary At Home With The Furys. Netfix cameras followed him as he watched his racehorse Big Gypsy King run in the Unison Campaigning For Public Services Handicap over seven furlongs. However, the filly did not perform on the day and failed to finish in front of any of the other runners in 11th place. Jockey Luke Morris reported to the on-course stewards that his mount was never travelling. Big Gypsy King, trained in Newmarket by Oliver Cole, has made seven appearances on the track and scored for the first time at Chelmsford in May. But a greater adventure might await Fury and his manager Spencer Brown, who have started to invest in horses in the National Hunt side of the sport - racing over jumps. ‌ Top bloodstock agent Jerry McGrath signed for ex-Joseph O'Brien trainee Cossack Chach at the Goffs UK October Sale in Doncaster last year. The £36,000 buy was joined on the lorry to Cumbrian trainer Jimmy Moffatt's stable by Sea The Clouds, who cost £14,000. The latter horse recouped almost £7,000 of his purchase price when he hit the target at Cartmel races in July, with former champion jockey Brian Hughes riding.
