Former Laker will play for Nets in summer league
It was expected in recent weeks that guard Quincy Olivari, who showed promise this past season as a rookie in the preseason and G League, would be a member of the Lakers' summer league squad. He said recently in an interview that he would take part in summer league play, but he wasn't listed on their summer league roster.
Instead, he will play for the Brooklyn Nets' summer league squad.
Olivari earned the love and respect of Lakers fans last fall during the preseason by helping to spearhead a comeback victory against the Milwaukee Bucks. He was rewarded with a two-way contract just after the preseason ended, and he had a number of strong performances as a member of the G League's South Bay Lakers.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have a new two-way player. His name is Enrique Freeman, and he's got one of the most inspirational stories in the NBA. ESPN's Shams Charania reported the signing on Friday morning. Freeman was cut by the Pacers after averaging 16.6 points per game in Summer League. Freeman's journey didn't always look destined for professional basketball. He had no college basketball offers out of high school in the Cleveland area, so he accepted an academic scholarship at the University of Akron and walked-on to the basketball team. Freeman grew four inches before his sophomore year of college and became a star in the MAC. After Akron, Freeman was the 50th overall pick in 2024 and played 22 NBA games as a rookie, averaging 2.1 points in 8.2 minutes per game. And then in Summer League this year, he averaged 16.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting 72.5% from the floor and 55.6% from 3. Freeman seems like the kind of late bloomer who can legitimately help a contending team. The Timberwolves won't need him to be a high-usage player, of course. But he can do so many different things on the floor that he should find a way to fit in when called upon in the NBA portion of his two-way contract. And he's worked so hard to get to this point. "This does leave a few interesting free agents still, not even including eventual buyout candidates like Chicago's Nikola Vucevic," Irwin wrote. "As they did with Smart, the Lakers are closely monitoring that situation." Vucevic would be a very intriguing addition for Los Angeles if he is bought out by the Bulls. He would provide excellent depth behind Ayton and would bring both scoring and rebounding to the second unit. During the 2024-25 NBA season in Chicago, Vucevic played in 73 games ande made 72 starts. He averaged 18.5 points per game to go along with 10.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists, while also shooting 53 percent from the floor and 40.2 percent from the three-point line. His ability to stretch the floor from the center position would bring a valuable skill-set to the Lakers. Ayton is not a capable three-point shooter. Vucevic's presence would give JJ Redick more lineup options to match up with opponents. At 34 years old, Vucevic is nearing the end of his career. Having an opportunity to play for the Lakers alongside James and Doncic would have to be intriguing to him. All of this will depend on whether or not the Bulls buy him out. That remains to be seen, but it's a situation worth keeping a close eye on and Los Angeles is clearly doing so. The Golden State Warriors have had over 600 players don the more than 60 jersey numbers used by their players over the more than 75 years of existence the team has enjoyed in its rich and storied history. Founded in 1946 during the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- a precursor league of the NBA) era, the team has called home the cities of Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland, and even San Diego. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Warriors Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. For this article, we begin with the 11th of 13 players who wore the No. 19 jersey for the Warriors. That player would be Golden State forward alum Devean George. After ending his college career at Augsburg College, George was picked up with the 23rd overall selection of the 1999 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. The Minneapolis, Minnesota native would play the first seven seasons of his pro career with the Lakers, and three more with the Dallas Mavericks before finishing his NBA career with a final season with the Dubs after being dealt there via the Toronto Raptors in 2009.
