Midge Ure announces dates for 'immersive' tour
The 71-year-old musician, James 'Midge' Ure, who co-wrote Do They Know It's Christmas? for Band Aid, will start his A Man Of Two Worlds Tour in May 2026.
Ure is best known for being the frontman of electronic pop group Ultravox, whose track Vienna (the title track from their studio album of the same name) is among the most well-known songs of the 80s.
Ure said: 'This is my two worlds coming together.
'Almost every album I have made over the last 40-plus years has featured at least one instrumental track. Instrumental music is one of my main loves.
'I realised most of these have never been performed live. So my intention on this tour is to seamlessly insert some of these atmospheric, cinematic instrumentals between a selection of hits and favourite album tracks.'
The tour promises to offer a 'rare and deeply personal concert experience' for fans by bringing together album favourites with 'cinematic instrumentals'.
Speaking about the tour, Ure said he wanted to 'take the audience on a journey rather than just play a list of individual songs'.
'This will be an immersive experience for the audience both visually and sonically,' he said.
Ure's musical career has spanned decades with his early years performing as part of bands such as Irish rockers Thin Lizzy, new wave groups Visage and Rich Kids before going on to have a successful solo career.
The Ivor Novello winner, who has also been nominated for a Grammy, became an OBE in 2005 for services to music and charity.
The musician went on to celebrate his 70th birthday with a sold-out show at the Royal Albert Hall in 2023.
The tour will take place in May and June 2026 and is expected to open in Bath with performances in Liverpool, Sheffield and Edinburgh.

Police have ‘proportionate and considered' plan ahead of Glasgow Kneecap gig
Kneecap were axed from the line-up of TRNSMT in the city amid a row over an investigation by counter-terror police into rapper Mo Chara, who is accused of terrorism offences related to a Hezbollah flag he allegedly held up on stage. The satirical Belfast rap group, who perform in Irish, have been outspoken critics of the war in Gaza and said the prosecution – following an investigation by the Met Police – is linked to their views on Palestine. TRNSMT cancelled Kneecap's performance at the end of May over safety concerns by Police Scotland. On Tuesday, they are set to perform a sold-out gig at the O2 Academy in Glasgow, days before TRNSMT begins on Friday. As well as Kneecap, Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar are also performing in Glasgow on Tuesday. Police Scotland say they will aim to minimise disruption in the city. In May, First Minister John Swinney urged for TRNSMT to cancel the performance on July 11, saying that 'organisers of TRNSMT have got to consider that issue.' Mo Chara, also known as Liam Og O hAnnaidh was charged under the name Liam O'Hanna by the Metropolitan Police in May, over the alleged display of a Hezbollah flag at a gig, and appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on June 18. The furore led to calls from Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch for Glastonbury to cancel a performance from the Belfast rappers on June 28, which the festival organisers did not do. Despite being cancelled from TRNSMT, Kneecap are still due to perform scheduled shows at 2000trees rock festival on July 10, Wythenshawe Park in Manchester on August 15 and Belfast Vital on August 29 – nine days after O hAnnaidh's next court appearance. At the last hearing, prosecutor Michael Bisgrove said: 'It's not about Mr O hAnnaidh's support for the people of Palestine or his criticism of Israel. 'He's well within his rights to voice his opinions and solidarity, as is anybody else. 'The allegation in this case is a wholly different thing and deals with a video recording showing that, in November of last year, Mr O hAnnaidh wore and displayed the flag of Hezbollah, a proscribed terrorist organisation, while saying 'up Hamas, up Hezbollah'.' Kneecap have said they have 'never supported' Hamas or Hezbollah, which are banned in the UK. Superintendent Paul Douglas said: 'We are aware of a number of events and concerts due to take place in the Greater Glasgow area in the week beginning Monday July 7 2025. 'A proportionate and considered policing plan is in place within the city and we are working with a number of stakeholders to ensure the safety of all those attending these events and where possible minimise disruption to the people of Glasgow.'

Eddie Redmayne feeling ‘such pride' as Cabaret marks 1,500th show in London
The Day Of The Jackal star, 43, led the West End revival of the show, alongside Irish actress Jessie Buckley, in 2021 and won an Olivier for his role as the Emcee, the flamboyant master of ceremonies. 'I feel such pride in what the show is, and having been some part of helping put it together, and I've been lucky enough to come and see almost all the cast who have taken over and really the show in its essence', he told the PA news agency at a special gala night. 'I think our director's version of it is a celebration of the individual, and watching how the show shifts and changes as each actor brings their own entirety of themselves to it has been a real wonder and nothing makes me happier when I'm in London and I see a Cabaret poster go by on a bus, and I know that it's continuing to thrill each season, and kind of reflect what's going on in the world.' The show, which features music from composer John Kander, is set in Berlin during the jazz age as the Nazis rise to power. Set in the seedy Kit Kat Club, which acts as a safe space for outsiders, the story explores themes of sexuality and fascism. Redmayne told PA: 'Each time Cabaret has ever been put on, it's felt resonant, and it just, sadly, feels more and more resonant daily, and as John (Kander) says, he hopes one day it won't. The musical theatre production is partly based on Christopher Isherwood's 1939 novel Goodbye to Berlin which tells of the glamour, danger, excess and repression of Berlin society. Bridgerton actress Hannah Dodd is currently playing Sally Bowles while TikTok star Rob Madge is starring as the Emcee. Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club is currently booking until Saturday March 28 2026.

But an investigation was reportedly triggered by one of her most shared videos, where Linda performs in a cabaret in a traditional belly dancing costume. The Cairo prosecutor's office accuses the young woman of having "used seduction techniques and provocative dances to incite vice". According to authorities' report, in some videos Linda "deliberately wore provocative clothing and performed dance movements with sexual allusions" They say she therefore disrespected "public decency" and the "values of family and society".
