Amanda Keller shares 'surreal' encounter with Ozzy Osbourne - following his death at age 76

Daily Mail23-07-2025
Amanda Keller has revealed a 'surreal' moment she shared with Ozzy Osbourne as the world mourns the iconic rocker's death.
The legendary Black Sabbath frontman died 'surrounded by love' at the age of 76, a statement from his family said.
Speaking about Ozzy on her Jonesy and Amanda radio show on Wednesday, the broadcast veteran recounted a very surprising interaction with the iconic 'Prince Of Darkness'.
'I once met Ozzy Osbourne,' she told co-host Brendan Jones. 'I was working at Triple M and we were having a promotion.'
'This was before the reality show, so Sharon looked quite different. This is before, as she says, she had a lot of work done. This is old Sharon.'
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop.
Amanda went on to explain that Sharon was attempting to assist Ozzy with an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction.
'Ozzy looked quite befuddled and his hair was caught in his bracelets and she was trying to untangle him,' she said.
While witnessing the scene unfold, Amanda revealed her shock when Ozzy admitted to being a fan of her work.
'He looked up at me and he said: "I know you",' Amanda revealed.
'He used to watch Beyond 2000 on satellite television. His wife said: "Yeah, we always used to watch that show.
'What a surreal moment.'
Beyond 2000 was a long-running Australian science and technology series and Amanda joined the cast as a presenter in 1985.
Amanda's admission comes after Ozzy's family revealed the news of his passing on Wednesday, just weeks after the Black Sabbath frontman performed from a throne on stage at Villa Park in Birmingham.
In a statement, his family said: 'It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.'
'He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.'
The rocker was able to bid an emotional farewell to his fans on stage this month as he reunited with his original Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for the first time since 2005.
'You've no idea how I feel - thank you from the bottom of my heart,' Osbourne told the crowd in his final speech.
The music legend vowed, however, that it would be his final ever performance due to his health, having opened up about his battle with Parkinson's in 2020.

Jilted Farmer Wants A Wife hunk Jarrad Wrigley rumoured to be dating again - after calling it quits with co-star Chloe

Romance may be in the air once again for Farmer Wants A Wife heart-throb Jarrad Wrigley, who is set to headline the Ekka's Singles Mingle Monday event on August 11 at the Brisbane Showgrounds. The 22-year-old country crooner and reality TV star is back on the market and embracing a second shot at love. The shock move comes after his whirlwind on-screen romance with bartender Chloe Ilka came to a dramatic halt in June - just days before the reunion episode was filmed. While the pair initially claimed they had 'amicably' parted ways, it was later revealed that Ilka pulled the pin just 48 hours before the cameras rolled on the reunion special, leaving Jarrad single - and perhaps more ready than ever to meet someone new. Now, attention is turning to fellow Singles Mingle VIP Georgia Scarlett, a 20-year-old Australian country singer and radio host who will also perform alongside Jarrad at the iconic Royal Queensland Show. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Sparks are rumoured to be flying between the budding country singers and insiders say there could be more than just professional chemistry brewing between the pair. 'Everyone's so scared to meet people in real life these days. This is such a fun chance to get out there and maybe find something real,' Scarlett told The Courier Mail. Meanwhile, Jarrad offered his own advice to Brisbane singles looking for love: 'Untuck your jeans, iron your shirt... and open your heart.' In June, on the dramatic FWAW reunion episode, the fate of Farmer Jarrad's romance with Chloe was revealed. Jarrad was tipped to find a fairytale ending on the show when he fell for 25-year-old registered nurse Chloe Harvey. But Chloe did show up for the reunion - and the pair admitted their relationship had not worked out. Jarrad revealed that 'unfortunately' they were no longer together - and it was Chloe who pulled the plug. 'That was me. I see Jarrad as a really good mate and support him in what he does,' she said. 'But I think until you're living it, you don't know. Our lives are on different paths.' Chloe, however, added that she had some hope that 'maybe in the future' they would rekindle their romance - which left Jarrad absolutely beaming. Questions about the fate of their relationship had swirled for weeks, after fans claimed Jarrad had been behaving like a bachelor off screen. 'He didn't act like someone in a relationship,' one festivalgoer told Daily Mail, alleging they encountered Jarrad at a country music gig in Tamworth back in January – weeks after he reportedly wrapped filming. 'He was chatting up women left and right. He even joked about being 'done with dating shows.' Honestly, it seemed like he was single or just didn't care who saw.' Some viewers later questioned whether the aspiring country crooner joined the reality series as a strategic move to boost his public profile and music career. Despite being described by some as 'one of the nicest blokes you'd ever meet,' Jarrad, a country musician by trade, has been slammed online by fans who believe the only thing he was truly chasing was a record deal.

Kelly Osbourne breaks silence after dad Ozzy's funeral in heartfelt tribute

The Black Sabbath legend's death drew condolences from stars like Sir Rod Stewart, Noel Gallagher and Sir Elton John Kelly Osbourne has broken her silence following her dad Ozzy's funeral in a heartfelt tribute to the rock icon online. The 40-year-old daughter of the Black Sabbath legend took to Instagram on Friday, August 1 with a moving post. ‌ Ozzy was laid to rest next to the lake in his Buckinghamshire home on Thursday. The moving funeral service beforehand, on Wednesday, saw 110 of Ozzy's loved ones join his wife Sharon and his children Jack, 39, Kelly, 40, Aimee, 41, and Louis, 50, who is Ozzy's son from his first marriage to Thelma Riley. ‌ Kelly has now posted online for the first time since her father's send-off, sharing a picture of a wreath reading 'Ozzy F***ing Osbourne' placed by the bank of the water. She put no text or caption on the photo, instead leaving it as is. ‌ The 76-year-old, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, a neurodegenerative disorder, in 2019, died on Tuesday, July 22 surrounded by his close family, as they released a statement confirming the singer had passed. Before his death, Kelly had honoured her dad in a string of emotional posts. In one video, the singer could be seen sitting around the kitchen table with family just two days before he passed away. ‌ In another, she shared the lyrics to Changes - the Black Sabbath track that she and Ozzy, who had also battled with chronic nerve pain in the last years of his life, famously re-recorded together in 2003. Thousands of fans also paid tribute at Ozzy's funeral procession through Birmingham on Wednesday. In recent years, Ozzy had spoken openly about his desire to return to the UK, saying he was "desperate to come home." Sharon, wearing Ozzy's ring on a chain around her neck, walked behind his cortege alongside family including Kelly, who wore round sunglasses in a subtle nod to her dad's infamous look. ‌ The hearse carrying his coffin began its route at his former childhood home in Aston, before making its way to the city centre. The procession made a stop at the Black Sabbath Bench and bridge, where fans gathered in the area to pay their final respects. ‌ Fans chanted"Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy" as the hearse arrived, and comforted an emotional Sharon as she got out of the funeral car to lay flowers on the bridge. Following the public celebration of his life in Birmingham, a more intimate farewell took place at the family's Buckinghamshire home. Ozzy's final resting place on the grounds of his Buckinghamshire estate was entirely in line with his deeply personal wishes. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! An extract from Ozzy's 2009 autobiography, I Am Ozzy, reveals he had long expressed his hopes to Sharon: "I've said to Sharon: 'Don't cremate me, whatever you do?' I want to be put in the ground, in a nice garden somewhere, with a tree planted over my head." He continued: "Don't get me wrong: I don't worry about that kind of heavy-duty stuff on a daily basis. "I've come to believe that everything in life is worked out in advance. So whenever bad s**t happens, there ain't nothing you can do about it. You've just gotta ride it out. And eventually death will come, like it comes to everyone."

The very surprising short-odds favourite to win this year's coveted Gold Logie is revealed

A surprise frontrunner has emerged in the race to take out the coveted Gold Logie at this year's TV WEEK Logie Awards. Beloved Home and Away star Lynne McGranger, 72, is now the clear favourite to win Australian television's top prize, after a wave of public support and sentimental backing for her 33-year run as Irene Roberts on the long-running soap. According to betting giant Sportsbet, McGranger has stormed into the lead with odds of just $1.37 – far ahead of her nearest rivals. She's now well ahead of A Current Affair's Ally Langdon ($5.00), LEGO Masters host Hamish Blake ($8.50), ABC presenter Lisa Millar ($10.00), and comedian Julia Morris ($11.00). Meanwhile, MasterChef Australia star Poh Ling Yeow sits at $13.00, while 2023 Gold Logie winner Sonia Kruger has blown out to $17.00. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The veteran actress, who earlier this year announced her departure from Home and Away, is being widely tipped to take home the Gold as a touching send-off from viewers - and it's not just fans backing her in. 'My son-in-law messaged me when the news broke about the Gold Logie. He said, "I just got you at $3.50 - I put $100 on you". Then he said, 'That's ridiculous... your odds should be much shorter than that!' she told Perth Now. 'But then within a week, I was $1.70, so now he is very chuffed. If I have to get up and make a speech, I'll make it known publicly he just made $350 off me!' McGranger first appeared on the long-running soap in 1993 and has played Irene Roberts for over three decades. Her exit storyline, which sees her character diagnosed with Alzheimer's, is currently unfolding on-screen and has struck an emotional chord with viewers. 'It's humbling and really overwhelming to even be nominated,' McGranger said. 'If I had known this was going to happen, I would have left years ago! But in all seriousness, I am loving the ride.' The veteran actress will be joined by her daughter Clancy at Sunday's ceremony in Sydney. According to Sportsbet, McGranger has stormed into the lead with odds of just $1.37 – far ahead of her nearest rivals At the ceremony, beloved rocker Jimmy Barnes is set to take the stage at The Star Sydney on August 3, bringing four decades of fan-favourite hits to Aussie ears. Jimmy, who has 21 number-one albums under his belt as well as a place in the ARIA Hall of Fame, revealed he couldn't wait to 'get the party jumping' at the annual awards ceremony. 'I am excited about playing at the Logies, television's big night of nights,' the 69-year-old said. 'It will be great to celebrate all the fantastic talent we have in Australian television, and to play some rock'n'roll music to get the party jumping.' The Aussie icon will be joined by the likes of Kitty Flanagan, Hamish Blake and Leigh Sales, who are just a few of the presenters expected to wow the crowd. It has also been revealed that Sam Pang will host the event for the third time. Sam's cheeky and irreverent comedy as host last year and in 2023 proved to be a big hit with audiences and TV's A-list, as well as a major ratings winner for Seven. 'It's been an honour to host the last two years. I'm looking forward to again celebrating the talented people and amazing shows that combine to make the Aussie TV industry something everyone can be proud of,' Sam told The Herald Sun. The ceremony will be available to watch from 7:00pm on Sunday, August 3 on Seven and 7Plus. 65th TV WEEK LOGIE AWARDS NOMINATIONS TV WEEK GOLD LOGIE – Most Popular Personality on Australian Television Ally Langdon - A Current Affair, The Olympic Games Paris 2024, 9Network Hamish Blake - LEGO Masters Australia, 9Network Julia Morris - I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Network 10 Lisa Millar - Back Roads, ABC News Breakfast, Muster Dogs: Where Are They Now, Muster Dogs: Collies & Kelpies, ABC Lynne McGranger - Home and Away, Seven Network Poh Ling Yeow - MasterChef Australia, Network 10 Sonia Kruger - The Voice, Dancing With The Stars, Logies Red Carpet Show, Seven Network Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter Hamish Blake - LEGO Masters Australia, 9Network Julia Morris - I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Network 10 Ricki-Lee - Australian Idol, Seven Network Sonia Kruger - The Voice, Dancing With The Stars, Logies Red Carpet Show, Seven Network Todd Woodbridge - Tipping Point Australia, Australian Open, The Olympic Games Paris 2024, Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, 9Network Zan Rowe - Take 5 With Zan Rowe, ABC New Year's Eve, ABC Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent Guy Montgomery - Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont Spelling Bee, ABC Hailey Pinto - Home and Away, Seven Network Jenny Tian - Taskmaster Australia, Network 10 Kate Miller-Heidke - The Voice, Seven Network Kylah Day - Territory, Netflix Sofia Levin - MasterChef Australia, Network 10 Ray Martin Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Presenter Ally Langdon - A Current Affair, 9Network David Speers - Insiders, ABC Michael Usher - 7NEWS, 7NEWS Spotlight, Seven Network Peter Overton - 9News, 9Network Sarah Ferguson - 7.30, ABC Tara Brown - 60 Minutes, Dangerous Lies: Unmasking Belle Gibson, 9Network TV WEEK SILVER LOGIE – Best Lead Actor in a Drama Lloyd Griffith - Return To Paradise, ABC Michael Dorman - Territory, Netflix Robert Taylor - Territory, Netflix Sam Corlett - Territory, Netflix Sam Neill - The Twelve, BINGE / FOXTEL Tai Hara - Return To Paradise, ABC TV WEEK SILVER LOGIE – Best Lead Actress in a Drama Alycia Debnam-Carey - Apple Cider Vinegar, Netflix Anna Samson - Return To Paradise, ABC Anna Torv - Territory, Netflix Ayesha Madon - Heartbreak High, Netflix Kaitlyn Dever - Apple Cider Vinegar, Netflix Lynne McGranger - Home and Away, Seven Network TV WEEK SILVER LOGIE – Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Aaron Chen - Fisk, ABC Ben Miller - Austin, ABC Clancy Brown - Good Cop/Bad Cop, Stan Luke Cook - Good Cop/Bad Cop, Stan Michael Theo - Austin, ABC Patrick Brammall - Colin From Accounts, BINGE / FOXTEL TV WEEK SILVER LOGIE – Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Harriet Dyer - Colin From Accounts, BINGE / FOXTEL Jenna Owen - Nugget is Dead: A Christmas Story, Stan Kitty Flanagan - Fisk, ABC Leighton Meester - Good Cop/Bad Cop, Stan Sally Phillips, Austin - ABC Vic Zerbst - Nugget is Dead: A Christmas Story, Stan TV WEEK SILVER LOGIE – Best Supporting Actor Ashley Zukerman - Apple Cider Vinegar, Netflix Darren Gilshenan - Colin From Accounts, BINGE / FOXTEL Glenn Butcher - Fisk, ABC Mark Coles Smith - Apple Cider Vinegar, Netflix Matt Nable - Apple Cider Vinegar, Netflix Sam Delich - Territory, Netflix TV WEEK SILVER LOGIE – Best Supporting Actress Aisha Dee - Apple Cider Vinegar, Netflix Chloé Hayden - Heartbreak High, Netflix Julia Zemiro - Fisk, ABC Marg Downey - The Newsreader, ABC Michelle Lim Davidson - The Newsreader, ABC Tilda Cobham-Hervey - Apple Cider Vinegar, Netflix Best Drama Program Bump - Stan Heartbreak High - Netflix Return To Paradise - ABC Territory - Netflix The Newsreader - ABC The Twelve - BINGE / FOXTEL Best Miniseries or Telemovie Apple Cider Vinegar - Netflix Critical Incident - Stan Fake - Paramount+ How To Make Gravy - BINGE / FOXTEL Human Error - 9Network Plum - ABC Best Entertainment Program ABC New Year's Eve - ABC Australian Idol - Seven Network Countdown 50 Years On - ABC Dancing With The Stars - Seven Network The Voice - Seven Network Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight - 9Network Best Current Affairs Program 60 Minutes - 9Network 7.30 - ABC 7NEWS Spotlight - Seven Network A Current Affair - 9Network Australian Story - ABC Four Corners - ABC Best Scripted Comedy Program Austin - ABC Colin From Accounts - BINGE / FOXTEL Fisk - ABC Good Cop/Bad Cop - Stan Melbourne International Comedy Festival - ABC Optics - ABC Best Comedy Entertainment Program Gruen - ABC Hard Quiz - ABC Have You Been Paying Attention?
