One dead after Metrolink train collides with car in Camarillo
It happened a little after 2 p.m. near Las Posas Road and Fifth Street, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.
"Preliminary investigation determined that a white Lincoln MKC was traveling southbound on Las Posas Road and had stopped for a red traffic signal at Fifth Street," said a press release from California Highway Patrol investigators. "While stopped, the vehicle came to rest on the train tracks."
As the train neared the car, the railroad crossing arms activated, police said.
"The train was unable to stop in time and collided with the white Lincoln, which was positioned just north of the intersection," the release noted.
The impact of the crash pushed the car dozens of feet, where it came to a rest east of the intersection. The train continued eastbound until it came to a stop about a quarter mile from where the crash occurred.
The driver of the Lincoln was declared dead at the scene. He has not yet been identified.
"The train was carrying five passengers and three crew members, none of whom sustained injuries," said a

from VCSD.

Boy, 17, arrested after stabbing
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after a stabbing in Nottingham left a man with "life-altering" injuries. Nottinghamshire Police said officers were called to reports of an assault in Old Farm Road, in the Top Valley area, at about 18:30 BST on 16 July. A suspect was tracked down on Sunday to an address in Lincoln, where a force spokesman said two zombie knives and quantities of drugs were also found. The teenager was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, possessing an offensive weapon in a private place, and possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs. Det Insp Lisa Jones, of Nottinghamshire Police, said officers were appealing for witnesses or anyone with information. "This would've been a terrifying ordeal for the victim, who was left with multiple stab wounds," she said. "He was left with nasty, life-altering injuries that required surgery as a result, although thankfully they weren't even more severe." Follow BBC Nottingham on Facebook, on X, or on Instagram.
