Nagpur: Shri Nagpur Kutchhi Visa Oswal Mahila Mandal celebrated the vibrant spirit of the monsoon with a lively Sawan Mela held at Kutchhi Visa Bhavan, Lakadganj, on July 26. The event combined spiritual grace, fun-filled activities, and cultural learning, creating a memorable experience for all attendees.
The programme commenced on a serene note with the chanting of the Navkar Mantra by Jigna, Kumud, Sapna, and Rajul, setting a spiritual ambience for the day. A total of 45 women, all dressed in festive green attire symbolising the season, enthusiastically took part in a series of group games and a musical housie session themed around iconic Bollywood rain songs.
A special highlight of the event was a saree draping tutorial by Alpa Nishant Shah, who shared practical styling tips.
Prachi Shah served as the model, demonstrating elegant draping techniques that received much appreciation from the audience.
The event was made successful through the efforts and coordination of Kavita Shah, Vimal Shah, Paresha Shah, Minal Shah, and Mona Vora.
More than just a seasonal celebration, the Sawan Mela fostered social bonding, promoted women's empowerment, and showcased the richness of community traditions.

Known for her indie movies, Shahana Goswami has also been a part of quintessential Bollywood films like and Heroine . Reflecting on her shift from commercial big-budget films to content-driven movies, she says, 'Each of those projects had a different pull and attraction for me in terms of the journey that I had. As for the feeling of fulfilment where my craft is concerned, I didn't feel that very much. I felt like I was selling myself short. I realised that the problem at that time, at least with these bigger and more commercial films, was that smaller characters were not always very well-written or well-crafted into the storyline. So, there wasn't much of a graph or much to do. I knew I was capable of so much more.' 'Bollywood is driven by commerce' Talking further about her career choice, the Rock On actress says, 'Right after those few films, I started doing leads in independent films, which was fulfilling. I would be happy to be a part of a big commercial project that allows the character to have meat, but that hasn't happened. Bollywood is driven by commerce. So, the good roles will be given to people who bring money to the table through their name and fame. That's the dynamic. It's almost impossible or unheard that there would be some completely new person picked just for the fact that they are a good actor.' 'I would've loved to play Rani, but that's not a possibility' So, does the industry's pecking order ever leave her bitter? Shahana says, 'I enjoyed Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani . I would've loved to play Rani, but that's not a possibility. So, it doesn't upset me because I do understand that there is a commercial aspect to it. If the same script was being made by somebody else, maybe they would have made a different film. However, I understand that the minute it's a Karan Johar film, it needs names that are commercially viable. Maybe they could make a different choice, but I don't think so much about it. Saiyaara is second to Pathaan at the UK box office in 2nd weekend; Impresses with USD 9 million overseas in 10 days
The Mohit Suri directed Saiyaara has a fantastic second weekend at the overseas box office, collecting USD 3.80 million (Rs. 33 crore) approx. This marks a 95 per cent increase over its opening weekend, pushing its total gross to USD 8.90 million (Rs. 77 crore). The YRF musical led by Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda is fast approaching the Rs. 400 crore mark globally, with its worldwide box office tally at Rs. 373 crore at the end of 10th day. Saiyaara has so far impressed with its opening and also then trajectory. It will cruise past the USD 10 million mark in all probability on Tuesday. It is well placed to surpass USD 15 million, it could even go over USD 20 million, subject to how it sustains in coming weeks, first indication of which should come with the Monday hold. The United Kingdom has emerged as the best performer for the film. The second weekend amounted to over GBP 500K, second only to Pathaan. Yesterday, the UK almost overtook the United States as the top collecting territory, which is something that never happens nowadays. Once upon a time, the UK was the biggest overseas territory for Bollywood, but that was a long time ago. The market down-spiralled in between, but has made a comeback recently. The UK tends to have the best legs for Bollywood films among overseas territories. So, even though it trails behind the US and UAE in the total gross, by the end of the run, it could emerge on top, which will be an amazing feat. Saiyaara is a big blockbuster, and proves that love stories have an audience base even today if made with heart and honesty. The film also brings to the forefront the importance of music in the film fraternity, as the songs have been driving factors for its theatrical success.
