Courier supervisor in Kuching jailed five months for stealing parcels
KUCHING (July 21): A 27-year-old courier company supervisor was sentenced to five months' imprisonment by the Magistrates' Court here today for stealing parcels belonging to customers from the company's warehouse.
Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan handed down the sentence to Muhd Fitri Ahmad after he pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 381 of the Penal Code.
The section provides for imprisonment of up to seven years and a fine upon conviction.
The offence was committed at the company's premises in Kampung Senari, Muara Tebas Land District, at about 11.24am on July 14, 2025.
According to the facts of the case, one of Muhd Fitri's colleagues saw him rummaging through and stealing several customers' parcels in the warehouse's storage area.
The female colleague lodged a police report, which led to Muhd Fitri's arrest four days later.
A review of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage subsequently confirmed that Muhd Fitri had committed the offence.

Suspect caught placing leg under lorry wheel will be arrested, say police
KAJANG: Police say a man believed to be under the influence of drugs, who placed his leg under a moving lorry, will be arrested after he is discharged from hospital. Police hunt parang-wielding men who robbed Klang snooker shop
KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracking down six men believed to be involved in an armed robbery at a snooker shop in Kapar, Klang, yesterday. Klang Utara police chief Assistant Commissioner S Vijaya Rao said a report was lodged today over the incident, which involved six suspects armed with parang. "Three of the suspects entered the premises, while the other three waited outside with three motorcycles. "The suspects fled with a total of RM823 in cash. The incident was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV)," he said in a statement today. Father of murdered Johor boy transferred to Jempol police for further probe
ISKANDAR PUTERI: The father of the six-year-old boy found murdered and buried in Rompin, Negri Sembilan, was handed over to Jempol police today. District police chief Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan said the suspect, in custody since July 25, was handed over to Jempol police after his remand for investigations into lodging a false report and negligence expired today. Police obtained a seven-day remand order against the 36-year-old suspect, a day after he lodged a missing person report. He claimed he lost the boy, after leaving the boy in a car while buying food about 6pm on July 23 in Bukit Indah, here. Four days later, Jempol police discovered the child's body buried in shrubland in Rompin. A post-mortem revealed the boy died from strangulation with a cable tie, confirming foul play. The case, which has sparked national outrage, is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
