Kaizer Chiefs: Nabi reacts to another pre-season defeat
The pre-season match, played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, finished 0-0 after 90 minutes and penalties were needed to separate the two sides.
Amakhosi were the better team overall but failed to take their chances. In the 82nd minute, captain Miguel Inacio missed a penalty after Mduduzi Shabalala was brought down in the penalty box.
'I think it was a game that was very instructive… with the performance, we came with a lot of answers with what we have been working on and what we need to do going forward, it was a positive performance overall,' Nabi told SABC Sport.
'We had the opportunity to win the game, during the game, we missed it. We had the opportunity to win the game on penalties, we missed it – unfortunately we wanted to finish with offering our supporters, the victory and finish the day with joy. But unfortunately on penalties it can be unpredictable.'
Nabi feels Kaizer Chiefs can still improve with two weeks left before the Betway Premiership kicks off.
'The support was very positive, we're going into the right direction from the physical side, but we need… we're in the last week of pre-season, we know the negative points, for this game was very important for us to see that,' he added.
'Where the problems are, where the quality is and we'll push to improve the quality and correct the negatives. But I have satisfaction for some points today,' he concluded.
Kaizer Chiefs have already signed six players ahead of the new season but Nabi hinted more players might come in before the transfer window closes.

So, thank you to them and the coach (Miguel Cardoso) - the guy helped me to elevate my level as a player.' Being crowned the Footballer of the Season - an award that's voted for by the 16 coaches in the league - is one of the greatest recognition a player can get. But, Ribeiro didn't want to single out his favourite trophy, saying: 'I like every trophy because they are all important to me. It was a crazy season for me, so all four mean a lot.' Ribeiro and Co are set to be in for another 'crazy season" as expectations have mounted on them to improve after their impressive display at the World Cup last month. As such, after coming back for pre-season, they started with their preparations at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium as their base, Chloorkop, is undergoing renovations. From thereon, they camped in Rustenburg before returning to Atteridgeville to finetune their preparations for the MTN8 quarter-final against Richards at the same venue on Sunday. 'Training was good,' said Ribeiro. 'I am happy with training, and I am back at training to help my team. I worked well with the players and the coaches.'

Cape Town City had been hoping for a last-minute lifeline that might see them reinstated in the Betway Premiership, but those hopes were crushed on Thursday night when the PSL Disciplinary Committee (DC) handed Gallants a R200,000 fine — half suspended — for violating registration rules. That means the MTN8 will go ahead without delay, and the top-flight calendar remains intact, even though the decision leaves many with more questions than answers. City had taken the matter to arbitration through the South African Football Association (SAFA), arguing that Gallants breached league regulations by fielding Mphambaniso in 26 of their 28 league matches last season despite not securing the correct clearance certificate. The PSL handbook clearly stipulates that such documentation is required when a player moves between clubs, especially if they were previously registered as professionals. Tunisian giants Esperance closing in on Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile

Shalulile currently has two years remaining on his contract with the Betway Premiership kings but has slipped down the pecking order at the club, with Luca Ribeiro and Iqraam Rayners preferred ahead of him. With Kaizer Chiefs in desperate need of a prolific frontman, many pundits have linked the 31-year-old with a move to Naturena. Chiefs have struggled for goals over the last two seasons, and a striker who has scored over 100 goals in the PSL could be a perfect option. However, it seems that Esperance, the former team of Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso, look set to steal a march in the race for his signature, according to an iDiski Times report. Should Shalulile move to Tunisia, this could be seen as a lost opportunity for Chiefs, who are still on the hunt for a new striker with a proven goalscoring record in the Betway Premiership. Meanwhile, Ribeiro's future also appears to be up in the air, with the Brazilian being scouted by clubs in Qatar as well as his home country.
