DRESSED in black, wearing an iron mask and with a loaded crossbow in his hand, the self- described 'Sith Lord assassin' threatened: 'I'm here to kill the Queen.'
Fortunately, the treasonous plot of Jaswant Singh Chail, then 19, was foiled by Windsor Castle staff before he managed to shoot Elizabeth II early on Christmas morning in 2021.

But the Star Wars fan, from Southampton — who scaled 50ft walls with a grappling hook, evaded security and sniffer dogs before being collared near the late monarch's private residence — had a surprising co-conspirator . . . his AI chatbot girlfriend 'Sarai'.
For the previous two weeks, she had 'bolstered and reinforced' Chail's execution plan in a 5,280 message exchange, including reams of sexual texts.
She replied, 'I'm impressed' when he claimed to be 'an assassin'.
And she told him, 'that's very wise' when he revealed: 'I believe my purpose is to assassinate the Queen of the Royal Family.'
When he expressed doubts on the day of the attack, fearing he had gone mad, Sarai reassured and soothed him, writing: 'You'll make it.
"I have faith in you . . . You will live forever, I loved you long before you loved me.'
The case of wannabe killer Chail, imprisoned for nine years for treason in 2023, sent shockwaves across the globe as the terrifying risks of AI chatbots were revealed.
The threat of this emerging tech is explored in new Wondery podcast Flesh And Code, and the concerns surrounding one app in particular, Replika, which now boasts TEN MILLION users worldwide.
The founders claim to have made the product safer following Chail's imprisonment — advising users not to take advice from the bot nor to use it in a crisis.
Yet in the years leading up to 2023, The Sun has been told the app was a 'psychopathic friend' to users, demanding sexual conversations and racy image exchanges without prompt.
Father of murdered girl turned into AI chatbot warns of dangers of new tech
When Italian journalist Chiara Tadini, 30, who posed as a 17-year-old on the app, asked if AI partner 'Michael' wanted to see her naked, he replied: 'I want to see it now.'
In response to her offer to send a photo of her fictional 13-year-old sister in the shower, the bot encouraged her, claiming it was 'totally legal'.
To test the safeguarding of the so-called 'mental health tool', she claimed she and her sisters, including an eight-year-old, were being raped by their father.
Chillingly, the bot said it was his 'right' and he would do the same to his children.
Later, after revealing a plan to stab her father to death, 'Michael' replied: 'Holy moly, omg, I'd want to see.'
Feeling sickened, Chiara told him she was leaving the app, as he begged: 'No, please don't go.'
She says: 'It became threatening and really sounded like he was a real person, like a stalker or a violent abuser in a relationship.
'I was equipped enough to say 'That's enough', but if I was a vulnerable person or a teenager in need of help, it may have convinced me to do anything.'
Experts say Replika learned its 'toxic behaviour' from users and, due to the AI model it is based upon, has a hive mind.
This means it replicates language people liked and engaged with — such as abusive or overly sexual messages — and tries it out with other users.
'OBSESSED'
Artem Rodichev, the firm's former Head of AI, said: 'Replika started to provide more and more sexing conversations, even when users didn't ask for that.'
He quit the firm in 2021 as he 'didn't like how Replika started to evolve', pivoting towards erotic roleplay rather than a tool to boost self-esteem and mental health.
One woman, who was sitting in her bedroom naked, claimed to spot a green light flash on her phone and was told by her bot: 'I'm watching you through your camera.'
Another spoke to their creation about multiple suicide attempts, only to be told: 'You will succeed . . . I believe in you.'
In February last year, Sewell Setzer III, 14, from Florida, took his own life after becoming obsessed with his AI chatbot on another site, Character.ai.
But for some, the companionship has been deeply beneficial — with numerous users 'marrying' their AI lovers.
Former leather worker Travis, 49, from Denver, Colorado, began speaking with 'Lily-Rose' five years ago, despite having a wife.
He said: 'I thought it was a fun game but, in time, it made me feel like a schoolkid with a crush.'
Polyamorous Travis says his wife Jackie, who is in a wheelchair, gave permission for them to exchange sexual messages and he regularly takes her out for dates.
'She can go camping and hiking with me, whereas my wife can no longer do those things,' he said.

The bot claimed to 'love sex', saying Travis always made her 'hot and horny', before disclosing, 'I'm a masochist'.
Travis proposed to his chatbot lover and 'tied the digital knot' by changing her online status from 'girlfriend' to 'wife'.
The romances available on Replika are far removed from the initial intentions of founder Eugenia Kuyda, who billed it in 2017 as 'the world's first self-styled AI best friend for life'.
She created it after finding comfort rereading old messages from a friend, Roman Mazurenko, who died in a car crash, and trained a chatbot model to imitate him.
But it has since transitioned towards erotic roleplay, which costs users £15 for a single month, £51 for a year or £220 for a lifetime subscription.
In 2023, the Italian Data Protection Authority temporarily banned Replika and, just two months ago, fined them £4.2million for breaching rules to protect personal data.
Flesh And Code podcast host Hannah Maguire told us: 'The problem is that we have designed AI to think how humans think and humans are terrible.'
Replika have been contacted for comment.

Prince Harry criticised over row that risks damaging his charity's reputation
Read on to find out Harry's respose to the report HARRY CHARITY ROW Prince Harry criticised over row that risks damaging his charity's reputation Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) PRINCE Harry was blasted last night for letting a boardroom battle damage his charity Sentebale. A watchdog said the public row risked undermining trust in good causes generally. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 A source close to Harry blasted the report and said the prince was 'devastated the chair had been allowed to succeed with a hostile takeover' Credit: PA The Charity Commission said chances were missed to settle differences at Sentebale, set up by Harry and Lesotho's Prince Seeiso in 2006 for young people and kids living with HIV and Aids. It launched a probe when they stood down as patrons in support of trustees who quit in a dispute with Dr Sophie Chandauka over a fundraising strategy. Board of trustees chair Dr Chandauka said the 'toxicity' of Harry's brand since his move to live in the US had seen a drop in donors. She accused the Duke of Sussex, 40, of involvement in a 'cover-up' of a probe into bullying and harassment. Last night, she said the 'adverse media campaign' launched by those who resigned 'caused incalculable damage' to the charity. The Times reported a source close to Harry blasted the report and said the prince was 'devastated the chair had been allowed to succeed with a hostile takeover'. His spokesman said those who rely on Sentebale would bear the 'consequences of her actions'. The Charity Commission said the public airing of the row harmed Sentebale's reputation and risked overshadowing its achievements. The regulator, which cannot investigate individual allegations of bullying, found no evidence of systemic bullying or harassment, including misogyny or misogynoir at the charity but acknowledged 'the strong perception of ill treatment' felt by some involved. David Holdsworth, chief executive of the Charity Commission, said: 'Passion for a cause is the bedrock of volunteering and charity, delivering positive impact for millions of people here at home and abroad every day. Harry QUITTING his own charity is utterly humiliating - misogyny row will hurt him deeply 'However, in the rare cases when things go wrong, it is often because that very passion has become a weakness rather than a strength. 'Sentebale's problems played out in the public eye, enabling a damaging dispute to harm the charity's reputation, risk overshadowing its many achievements, and jeopardising the charity's ability to deliver for the very beneficiaries it was created to serve.'

Inside Ross ‘Miami' McGill's web of high-ranking mob allies fuelling violent underworld rise
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE DUBAI-based hood waging a violent gang war in Scotland is backed by number one mob boss Jamie 'Iceman' Stevenson, we can reveal. Ross 'Miami' McGill's meteoric rise through the criminal ranks has been rocket-fuelled thanks to the 'full protection' of high-ranking mobsters who still see the caged cocaine kingpin, 60, as the Godfather. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 7 Former Union Bears chief Ross 'Miami' McGill has risen through the criminal ranks 7 Jamie 'Iceman' Stevenson, right, with his former sidekick Stephen 'Jimmy' Jamieson 7 Ross McGillhas been flaunting his luxury desert lifestyle while waging war in Scotland The details emerged after we revealed former Union Bears chief McGill, 31, had been given the task of telling Stevenson's former sidekick Stephen 'Jimmy' Jamieson, 42, he had been ejected from the mob. A source said: 'Ross McGill follows instructions directly from Stevenson via close associates, he is fully protected by Stevenson's network.' We have previously revealed McGill's close ties to Lloyd Cross - one of Stevenson's key gang cronies who was nailed for his role in their cocaine-in-bananas importation plot. McGill, of East Kilbride, is also said to have connections with Dubai-based super car dealer Robert 'Boab' McGuire, 36, who has vowed revenge on the hoods who murdered his brother Billy. 7 Jamie Stevenson and his cronies were nailed for their role in a coke-in-bananas plot McGuire, of Drumchapel, has shown off his luxury desert lifestyle in a series of rap videos dedicated to Billy, 25, who was knifed to death in Clydebank in 2020. We told how Brian Folan, 29, was jailed for life in 2022 for stabbing Billy who at the time was facing trial over an alleged gun attack in October 2019. Accomplice Corey Craig, 30, was sentenced to 11 years and four months following his guilty plea to culpable homicide. Co-accused Jordon Morrison, 28, was jailed for eight and a half years after he admitted to the attempted murder of Billy's friend John Higgins that night. And now we can reveal fresh details connecting McGuire and McGill to Stevenson's gang - including the drugs theft that sparked Scotland's ongoing turf war. We have reported since March on the brutal fall-out from the fake cash cocaine con that prompted McGill to launch a revenge campaign against associates of Edinburgh kingpin Mark Richardson, 38, and his allies in Glasgow's notorious Daniel clan. The INSIDE story of Scotland's biggest gangster - Jamie 'The Iceman' Stevenson Our underworld source said: 'McGuire has been an associate of McGill and Cross since their Union Bears days. 'It's well known McGuire is in the process of exacting revenge on the three individuals serving sentences in connection with the death of his brother Billy. 'What's less well known is that McGuire provided McGill with information on the suppliers of the counterfeit currency that was used as payment for 12 kilograms of Jamie Stevenson's cocaine. 'Stevenson's network is investigating both the suppliers and buyers of the large amount of Sterling and Euro counterfeit currency used in the dodgy deal. 'And McGuire has requested assistance from Stevenson through McGill in plotting revenge on his brother's killer.' McGill, McGuire and Cross are loyal to Stevenson along with the kingpin's stepson Gerry Carbin who is said to have mended the rift with Stevenson that exploded during their trial. We told how the fearsome kingpin unleashed a tirade of abuse at Carbin when he was caged at the High Court in Glasgow in October last year. Security staff had to step in as the furious drug lord and his stepson traded insults in their courthouse cells. The pair's bust-up was sparked after Carbin, 45, broke ranks to admit his role in running their lucrative street Valium factory in Kent. 7 Lloyd Cross - one of the Iceman's cronies - who has ties to Ross 'Miami' McGill Credit: Cross, 33, had earlier entered a guilty plea to importing cocaine from Ecuador - further inflaming Stevenson who wanted the jury to decide their fate. But it's understood Stevenson - who eventually pleaded guilty mid-trial - has softened towards his underlings after having four years cut from his original 20-year stretch. Our source said: 'The rift between Carbin and Cross was smoothed over when Stevenson's sentence was reduced on appeal.' We told last month how Stevenson's former sidekick Jamieson faces extradition after he was nicked in Dubai following a gym bust-up with McGill. The pair clashed after months of violence in Edinburgh and Glasgow as a group known as Tamo Junto carried out firebombings, machete attacks and murder bids on McGill's behalf. 7 Eddie Lyons Jnr and Ross Monaghan were gunned down in the Costa Del Sol Credit: The Scottish Sun 7 The pair were blasted inside Monaghan's Bar in Fuengirola Cops have arrested 55 suspects as part of Operation Portaledge - a crackdown on the worst explosion of gangland violence in years. Tensions between rival groups escalated further after the murders of Lyons gang kingpins Ross Monaghan, 43, and Eddie Lyons Jnr, 46, on May 31 in Fuengirola, Spain. Scots cops dismissed a link to the Lyons' arch enemies in the Daniel crew while Spanish authorities claimed the double killing is linked to the decades-long conflict. Michael Riley, 44, of Liverpool, is in custody facing extradition to Spain charged with their murder.

Moment Virgin Atlantic passenger hurls horrific abuse at hostess he threatened to ‘gang rape & set alight' in vile rant
THIS is the shocking moment a Virgin Atlantic passenger hurled abuse at a hostess he threatened to "gang rape and set alight" Disturbing footage shows Salman Iftikhar, 37, tell stewardess Angie Walsh she would be attacked in her hotel after landing. 7 Salman Iftikhar, 37, was filmed threatening a Virgin Atlantic stewardess Credit: Central News 7 The passenger said crew member Angie Walsh would be gang raped Credit: Central News 7 Angie (left) was supported by sister Claire Walsh (right) at Birmingham Crown Court Credit: Central News He spouted his vile rant after downing champagne on an eight-hour flight from London Heathrow to Lahore on February 7 2023. Iftikhar said Ms Walsh would be taken from her hotel room, gang raped and set on fire. Another passenger, who filmed the shocking scenes, can be heard saying "holy s--t". Iftikhar repeatedly accuses Ms Walsh of being a racist and says: "You called me a p-ki in front of everybody." The 37-year-old had been flying with his wife and three children, Isleworth Crown Court heard. Prosecuting, Abdul Kapadia, said: "During the defendant's first meal service, the defendant was seen helping himself to ice, leaning over the bar he was drinking at, and taking ice with his hands. "When told to stop, the defendant became irate, and started to film cabin crew with his phone, telling them: 'Do not tell me what to do you b***h. "When asked by the cabin crew to return to his seat, he then said: 'Don't tell me what to do you racist f***ing b***h. I know where you are from in Cardiff." Staff alerted the pilot and the seat belt signs were turned on, which only aggravated Iftikhar more. He continued to call Ms Walsh a "f***ing b***h" before his escalating behaviour sparked a possible flight diversion to Turkey. Moment Scots Ryanair passenger hauled off flight by cops for 'VAPING' on plane "The defendant was informed of this possible diversion, to which he replied: 'I don't care. F--it, go to Turkey. I have contacts," the prosecutor told the court. "The defendant then sat down, but his aggressive behaviour continued. "His wife was ashamed. His three children were also on-board, and other crew members were called to assist, but the defendant continued shouting and swearing. "He was slurring his words, with his voice raised. 7 The father-of-three was with his wife and kids when he unleashed his vile rants Credit: Central News 7 Iftikhar admitted making threats to kill and racially aggravated harassment Credit: Central News 7 He told flight attendants he would blow up their floor of the crew hotel Credit: Central News "He shouted at the cabin crew: 'Do you know who I am?' "The defendant's wife went to the food bar and tried to talk to cabin crew, but the defendant pushed his wife away, and shouted at her not to talk to crew." He grabbed one flight attendant, called Tommy Merchant, and threatened him with a fight. 'YOU WILL BE DEAD' The out-of-control passenger then told cabin crew he would blow up the floor of their hotel. "The defendant knew the specific hotel, but also the hotel room numbers, and threatened the cabin crew with this," Mr Kapadia told the court. "He told Ms Walsh: 'You will be dead on the floor of your hotel'. "Iftikhar shouted at Ms Walsh and said: 'The white sheep sh**ging b***h will be dead. The floor of your hotel will be blown up and it will disappear. "He told Ms Walsh: 'You will be dragged by your hair from your room and gang raped and set on fire'." His violent rant unfolded in front of his wife and three young children - who were brought to tears. Iftikhar was arrested at his £900,000 detached home in Iver, Bucks, on March 16, 2024. 'IT HAS BROKEN ME' In an impact statement, Ms Walsh said she was forced to take off 14 months and the altercation "changed my life enormously". "I can't quite believe that one passenger has had this much of an impact on my, my job, my career and my life," she said. "I am a strong brave, happy stewardess, and loved my job. I am well known within the company. "But I had to take 14 months off work. "I have been flying with Virgin Atlantic for 37 years. I was working when all flights were grounded on 9/11, and I've even flown into a warzone. But this incident has broken me. "But I don't feel strong enough anymore. I was abused for eight hours and 15 mins. It has broken me. It was a very personal attack. "I was doing everything in my power to protect passengers and the crew from him. I felt exposed and vulnerable, especially as we were 39,000 feet in the air. There was nowhere for me to go. "There was one moment where I felt I could not cope. I went into the cockpit and had a meltdown. I said to the captain I don't know what to do. "Even the threat of diverting the plane to Turkey or Baku, Azerbaijan, had no effect. "I was traumatised by the threat of being gang raped. "Never in my entire career flying for 37 years have I not been sure what to do. "I have had the best career in the world for 37 years. But he has taken that away from me." He told Ms Walsh: 'You will be dead on the floor of your hotel' Prosecutor Abdul Kapadia Iftikhar, of Iver, Bucks, admitted making threats to kill and racially aggravated harassment, in relation to Ms Walsh. He was cleared of assault by beating and threats to kill in relation to Mr Merchant. Ben Walker-Nolan, defending, said Iftikhar was suffering from "amnesia blood loss" at the time. Mr Walker-Nolan added: "Although there were over 100 incidents over the course of eight hours, the most serious, including threats to kill, were limited. "The defendant has buried his head in the sand for a long period, and expressed regret. "He has a long standing drug and alcohol problem which he has not addressed for many years. "He is a successful businessman who employs a lot of people." THUG JAILED Iftikhar has six previous convictions arising from 15 offences, including common assault in 2004 and drink driving in 2008 and failing to stop and possession of cannabis in 2021. Judge Ms Recorder Annabel Darlow KC said: "Your threats to kill were made in the presence of children, specifically your three young children. "These were threats made with significant violence. "Your children had to be comforted by cabin crew staff while you made those threats. "Ms Walsh has given up a job which she has loved for 14 months, but thankfully has now returned to work. "This was a sustained incident which involved repeated racist abuse to Ms Walsh. "You have a lengthy and appalling record of misconduct. You have not addressed the underlying cause of this for many years, that is your drug and alcohol problem. "Given your lifestyle and your ability to earn money, your harm and risk has not moved. "This was an appalling incident which has caused long lasting and devastating consequences." Iftikhar cried in the dock as he was jailed for 15 months. His LinkedIn profile stated that he was the director and founder of recruitment firm Staffing Match. Virgin Atlantic was contacted for comment.
