Browns close on purchase of 176 acres for new stadium in Brook Park
Factory of Sadness 2 is moving closer and closer to reality.
With the Ohio legislature amending the Art Modell Law in a way that allows the Browns to move from Cleveland, the Browns have acquired a 176-acre parcel in Brook Park.
Via Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, the Browns and Haslam Sports Group closed on the sale on Friday, at a price in excess of $76 million.
Governor Mike DeWine is expected to sign the relevant provisions into law next week. The Browns hope to break ground in early 2026, with a goal of opening the new domed stadium in 2029.
The Browns will be sacrificing the home-field advantage that comes from playing in the elements. They'll be the first team in the AFC North to move indoors. Once that happens, only the AFC East will consist of four open-air, in-the-elements stadiums.

Details on why Eagles Drew Mukuba and 29 other 2nd-round picks haven't signed rookie deals
The 2025 NFL draft concluded over six days ago, and while most of the first-round picks and late-round picks have signed, the thirty-second-round picks are still unsigned, with less than a month to go before training camps kick off around the league. Philadelphia selected playmaking safety Andrew Mukuba with the 64th pick, and Adam Schefter reports that the former Texas star and 29 other second-round picks are haggling over guaranteed money on the standard four-year deal. First-round picks usually have guaranteed four-year deals with a potential fifth-year option, but up until this past April, fully guaranteed contracts weren't the norm for second-round picks. That all changed when the Texans gave Jayden Higgins, the 34th overall pick, the first fully guaranteed contract ever for a second-round pick on May 8. On May 9, the Browns followed suit, offering Carson Schwesinger, the 33rd overall pick in the second round, a fully guaranteed contract as well. Advertisement Schefter reports that since then, no second-round picks have signed. NFL teams have no problem colluding against guaranteed contracts, and Mukuba could miss time entering training camp if a deal isn't reached. It's a touchy scenario for Philadelphia, which traded C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the Texans, and could benefit from having a more athletic clone step into his shoes. Over his final 26 games in college, Mukuba recorded 18 pass breakups and committed zero penalties. Mukuba allowed just 74 yards and a 12.1 passer rating on 401 coverage snaps last season, per PFF. The Austin, Texas native, and Longhorns star played one year at Texas after spending three seasons at Clemson. Rumor: Steelers offered Watt new deal — but not Myles Garrett money
T.J. Watt's contract dilemma just took another unexpected turn, as longtime sportswriter Mark Kaboly reported that the belief is the Steelers have presented a contract offer to Watt — just not one that he'd sign. Kaboly recently explained on his podcast with co-host Chris Mack what he believes the holdup might be: Advertisement "I'm under the belief that there is a contract offer on the table right now — which is pretty significant. However, it's probably not what [Watt] thinks it is." Mack clarified that the deal isn't "Garrett money," to which Kaboly responded: "Yes. I'm not one hundred percent sure on that, but it's not like they're offering him, you know, $15 million and 'Hey, you're playing for the Steelers, so take it right now.' There is an offer on the table." It was previously rumored that Watt was seeking to surpass Garrett's $123.5 million in guaranteed money. This is no easy feat to accomplish, as the Browns edge rusher more than reset the market — he practically destroyed it. Steelers, T.J. Watt receive contract update — and it could be bad news for Myles Garrett
T.J. Watt may soon become the NFL's highest-paid defender — at least that's what insider James Palmer is hearing. On Wednesday, Palmer provided an update on Watt's contract negotiations with the Steelers — and it could spell bad news for Myles Garrett's historic four-year, $160 million deal (courtesy of Bleacher Report): Advertisement "I'm hearing there's a chance Watt gets past [$40 million]," Palmer said. "Which is something we're really keeping an eye on, right? If he gets that $40 million a year, at the age he is at, he has every right to ask for it. I've talked on here a lot about the comparison between him and Myles Garrett. The numbers are almost identical in every aspect. … [Watt] has the right to try and get that." It's been speculated that Watt is seeking to surpass Garrett's guaranteed money of $123.5 million, but if the Steelers defender can usurp the throne for highest-paid defender as well, it's just another feather in his cap over the Browns defensive end.
