Barry Ferguson leaves role as Rangers interim head coach
The Gers have confirmed the 47-year-old, who was asked to take over until the end of the season in February following Philippe Clement's exit, has departed along with Neil McCann, Billy Dodds and Allan McGregor following Saturday's 2-2 final-day draw at Hibernian.
A statement on the club's official website said: 'Everyone at Rangers Football Club would like to pass on their heartfelt thanks to Barry Ferguson and his staff, with yesterday's game at Hibernian being their final match in charge.

'Club legend Ferguson answered the call in the club's hour of need back in February and has overseen several memorable moments during his time in charge, not least progression to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League and a terrific victory at Parkhead.
'A Hall of Fame member, Ferguson will now leave this role along with Neil McCann, Billy Dodds and Allan McGregor, with enormous gratitude and best wishes of everyone at Ibrox for their efforts in these last few months.'
Ferguson took charge of 15 games in all, winning six and drawing five as the club he represented with such distinction as a player finished second behind champions Celtic, but 17 points adrift.
He said: 'I've already lived the dream as a player and as captain of Rangers and to do so as head coach in these last three months has been an enormous honour for me.
'There have been some ups and downs, but I have loved this experience and given it my all throughout.
'I want to thank Neil, Billy and Allan, the three staff members who came in with me, and all the other staff who have supported me during my time in charge. Indeed from everyone at the training centre and at Ibrox, the backing I have received has been phenomenal.
'Above all, I want to thank our supporters. There is no doubt this has been a difficult season, but the backing the team and I have continued to receive in spite of that has been incredible.
'I have said, no matter how this period panned out, I would always remain a committed supporter of the club and I look forward to remaining a Rangers ambassador.
'I wish whomever becomes the new manager, every success in the job.'
Chief executive Patrick Stewart thanked Ferguson and his staff for their work and revealed the hunt for a permanent replacement for Clement was 'progressing well'.
Stewart said: 'Barry, Neil, Billy and Allan all had distinguished playing careers with Rangers and they have all enhanced their standing with the club for their work since February. The reception they received at Ibrox on Wednesday night was fully merited and I know meant so much to Barry and his team.
'The search for our new head coach is progressing well, and we look forward to concluding our process in the coming period.'

Steelers throwback uniforms: Team introduces new jersey that pays homage to inaugural 1933 season
The Pittsburgh Steelers really understand the meaning of a throwback. The team is taking things all the way back to its inaugural season after announcing new 1933 throwback uniforms Monday. The uniforms are a modernized version of the jerseys the team tore back in 1933. The Steelers introduced the new uniforms in a post on X. The stripes on the front of the jersey are a clear callback to 1933, when the team's gold jerseys contained black stripes on the arms, neck and chest. Football players weren't required to wear helmets in 1933, so the modernized version of the uniform introduced something a little different on that front. The franchise has generally relied on its iconic black helmet in recent years, but that's going to change in the throwbacks. To celebrate the 1933 season, the team will wear a gold helmet with a black stripe, an inverse of their usual helmet. Tight end Pat Freiermuth was a big fan of that change, per the Steelers' website. "We've worn black helmets since I've been here, and well before that, and just switching it up to a new helmet I love. It gets players excited. It gets the fans excited. It's something cool to showcase. After we wear them, I want to keep that helmet forever. It's super cool." Another new aspect introduced on the throwbacks is the Pittsburgh crest near the left shoulder. That crest — which wasn't present on the 1933 uniforms — pays homage to the city of Pittsburgh. It's a celebration of the connection between the franchise and its city. The throwbacks will debut in Week 8, when the Steelers take on the Green Bay Packers. The team did not announce any additional games in which they will wear the new throwbacks. That game against the Packers should draw plenty of eyes, though. It's not only a primetime matchup, but it's also the first time Aaron Rodgers will face the Packers since leaving the team after the 2022 NFL season. Whether he wins or loses that matchup, Rodgers will at least do it in style.

Should the Seahawks trade TE Noah Fant to the Dolphins?
There was a blockbuster trade in the NFL on Monday that saw the Miami Dolphins send cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. The teams also exchanged late-round draft picks. The Dolphins are now reportedly in the market for a tight end to replace the outgoing Smith, according to national reports. Seahawks general manager John Schneider should consider calling Dolphins GM Chris Grier to gauge his interest in acquiring veteran tight end Noah Fant. There were rumors that Fant could have departed the Seahawks earlier this offseason, potentially as a cap casualty. That ultimately didn't come to fruition, but his future with the club still remains in question. Schneider drafted tight end Elijah Arroyo with a top-50 selection in April. It marked the second consecutive draft Schneider has taken a tight end, with AJ Barner as a 2024 fourth-round pick. Meanwhile the aging Fant is entering a contract year. Fant is slated to earn a base salary of $8.4 million this season. Schneider would create nearly $9 million in additional financial flexibility by trading him now. The 27-year-old Fant doesn't appear to be in Seattle's long-term plans, with both Arroyo and Barner on cheap rookie contracts for the foreseeable future. Fant would immediately become Miami's no. 1 tight end following Smith's departure to Pittsburgh. Fant would fill a pass-catching role for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. He'd join a supporting cast that still features Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle on offense. Fant has become expendable in Seattle. Arroyo and Barner represent the future of the tight end position. Schneider should consider striking on the opportunity while the Dolphins are aggressively in the market for a veteran player with Fant's skill set.
