Metallica Announce Deluxe ‘Load' Reissue With More Than 30 Hours of Music
Out June 13 via their Blackened Records, the Load reissue will be released as a remastered 2LP, CD, and cassette, as well as an expanded 3CD version. Both the 2LP and 3CD versions feature the album closer 'The Outlaw Torn' unedited for the first time, as time constraints forced the track to be cut short on the original 78-minute-and-59-second-long album.

Metallica Want Your Blood
Ahead of the reissue's arrival, Metallica shared the lyric video for the remastered version of 'Until It Sleeps,' which remains a fixture in the band's setlists:
However, the real draw is the loaded 'Limited-Edition Deluxe Box Set,' which includes, as Metallica said, 'the whole kitchen sink.' The 15CD/6LP/4 DVD set boasts the remastered Load on CD and vinyl plus tons of unreleased extras from the Metallica vaults, including one of the band's headlining gigs from the 1996 Lollapalooza, five CDs of 'Riffs, Demos, Session Takes, Rough & Alternate Mixes,' a collection of B-sides and rarities, more live shows, soundboard tapes and more. In total, the set houses 245 unreleased songs.
The DVDs feature making-of footage from the studio, plus two European concerts and all the music videos from the era. 'All said and done, the Deluxe Box Set delivers a fully loaded (and then some) total runtime of 1839:31!' Metallica calculated.
'To complete the experience, immerse yourself in memorabilia including a pack of 14 Rorschach Test cards, a Pushead patch, an 11×17 Lollapalooza poster, a Rolling Stone cover reproduction, a 5-pack of guitar/bass picks, lyric sheets, two laminated tour passes, and a deluxe 128-page book filled with unreleased photos and stories from those who were there,' the band added.

Elton John joins the band in Spinal Tap 2: The End Continues first look
Rob Reiner recently revealed that the premise of Spinal Tap II: The End Continues is the band having a viral moment of an old song coming back into popularity. In a way that plot is mirrored in the original film, This Is Spinal Tap, doing tidy numbers at the box office when it was re-released earlier this summer. All this to say there's an appetite for more from the band—and to whet that appetite, Wednesday saw the release of some first look photos from the upcoming sequel, featuring a guest appearance from the real life legend Elton John. 'Forty-one years after the release of the groundbreaking mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, the now estranged bandmates David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel, and Derek Smalls (Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer) are forced to reunite for one final concert,' a synopsis for the new film reads. 'Spinal Tap II: The End Continues also marks the resurrection of documentarian Marty Di Bergi (Rob Reiner), who once again tries to capture his favorite metal gods as they contemplate mortality—and the hope that their 12th drummer doesn't join them in The Great Beyond. Joined by music royalty Paul McCartney and Elton John, Spinal Tap wrestles with their checkered past to put on a concert that they hope will solidify their place in the pantheon of rock 'n' roll.' Spinal Tap II: The End Continues features a number of musical cameos, including Metallica's Lars Ulrich, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Questlove, McCartney, and John. Some of these non-comedians may have found the shoot challenging, given that—like the original film—the movie is entirely improvised without a script. But 'They were all great. Paul McCartney is really funny. I mean, really funny,' Reiner recently told Entertainment Weekly. 'And Elton was spot on. He knew exactly what he wanted to say, and either you can do it or you can't do it. But these guys are used to being asked questions. They've been asked a million questions over their careers by reporters, and so they were totally comfortable, and you'll see what they say. It is good.' Spinal Tap II: The End Continues premieres in theaters September 12; you can check out the new photos below. Hulk Hogan dead at 71: Wrestler's biggest controversies during his storied career
Famed wrestler Hulk Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, died Thursday, July 24, per Florida police and the WWE. Bollea had been struggling with health issues for years at this point, including a lingering back injury he suffered during his wrestling career. Throughout his career, Hogan was the face of professional wrestling for decades. In fact, he was the headliner for the main event in seven of the first eight WrestleMania's. He was on the covers of magazines, and had a myriad of toys and brands backing him up. He starred in movies, captivated fans and had one strange failed pasta restaurant. That said, despite his massive success, Hogan was not immune to controversy and criticism. With immense fame came scrutiny and Hogan was not a perfect man. Throughout his career, Hogan was the subject of many negative incidents that played a large role in his fall from grace. Here are the biggest controversies of Hogan's career: Hulk Hogan's biggest controversies Hogan's racist tirade/sex tape A sex tape is bad enough, but when Hogan was heard also saying horrendous things about Black people, liberally using a racial slur, his reputation took an ever harsher hit. Hogan also said heinous words about the possibility of his daughter dating a Black man. If it wasn't already clear enough, he also made sure everyone know he was racist by uttering, "I am a racist, to a point, (expletive) (racial slur)." Large role in the destruction of WCW When Hogan refused to lose a fight with WCW, Vince Russo went out of his way to trash Hogan via a promo. However, given Hogan was handed creative control of WCW, the promo broke that contract, allowing Hogan to sue WCW, costing them tons of money and playing a large role in WCW eventually selling to WWE. Very messy divorce with Linda Hogan Linda Hogan was the Hulkster's wife for most of his wrestling career. However, the marriage did not end well. The pair bickered constantly as each wanted to drag the other down. Linda even accused Hogan of cheating on her. Laundry list of lies Hogan would do anything to make himself look cool, even if that meant stretching the truth from time to time. Hogan would lie about everything, small to large. No one cared that George Foreman was the face of the George Foreman grill instead of Hogan, until Hogan falsely claimed that he was supposed to be the face and only wasn't because he missed the company's call. Hogan swore that he received a voicemail claiming that both he and Foreman had received offers. However, the inventor of the grill claimed that he'd never even considered Hogan. Hogan also lied about being hurt by Undertaker via a piledriver. Undertaker feared for his job and was only saved because video evidence showed that the Undertaker had performed the move perfectly, not allowing Hogan to get hurt at all. Hogan also erroneously claimed that he was offered a role in the band Metallica as a bassist. It wasn't long before band members Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield shot down those rumors, calling Hogan a liar. Hogan's abuse of power within pro wrestling When WCW signed Hogan, they gave him creative control over the company, but that did not go as well as they'd hoped. At Starrcade 1997, many fans were hoping to see Sting dethrone Hogan as champion, but Hogan's contract clause gave him the authority to change the outcome, giving himself the win, much to the chagrin of fans everywhere. Hogan continued abusing this power elsewhere, too. Fellow wrestler Bret Hart recalls Hogan being unwilling to drop the championship in 1993. Shawn Michaels also tells a story of Hogan backing out of an agreement in which Michaels would win a rematch between the two. Hogan's weird moments in politics Throughout his career, Hogan made a few strange decisions in the world of politics. Not only did he fake a presidential campaign in 2000, but he also threatened to body slam former Vice President Kamala Harris at a Trump rally. That's taking things a bit too far. Steroid usage The 1990s WWE steroids trial saw Vince McMahon under fire for illegal drug usage in pro wrestling. Hogan was the biggest witness of the case, and after years of claiming he'd never used steroids, he finally came clean in an effort to avoid a perjury charge. At the very least, Hogan did not throw McMahon under the bus, claiming that McMahon had never offered or supplied him with steroids. Hogan's testimony played a large role in McMahon avoiding jail time. Preventing Jesse Ventura from starting a union Although Ventura and Hogan were good friends in professional wrestling, that didn't stop Hogan from snitching on Ventura as he and several other wrestlers attempted to start a union to protect themselves and their futures. Hogan told Vince McMahon of Ventura's plans, allowing McMahon to stop it before it began. To this day, Ventura holds a large grudge against Hogan. There is no evidence that Hogan ever apologized. Hogan booed at final WWE appearance Hogan's final WWE appearance was rather recent, occurring in January 2025, when RAW was broadcast on Netflix for the first time. Hogan was booed during his appearance, fans still upset about the numerous controversies he'd been involved with in the past, including his support for President Donald Trump. Hogan bit back at the boos though, reminiscing about his time as a wrestler, even claiming that his days as a professional were the best of his life. The moment became even more ridiculous when it was revealed that Hogan was there to promote his new beer brand, 'Real American Beer.' It all felt facetious and did not do much to dissuade fans upset with his previous antics. Hulk Hogan changed wrestling. His legacy won't be remembered for it
Hulk Hogan's career can't be viewed as just what "Hulkamania" contributed to pro wrestling. On what was a momentous day for WWE, it only made sense for arguably its biggest star ever to appear. It was Jan. 6, the Netflix debut of Raw, and inside of the Intuit Dome, 'Real American' hit the speakers. For nearly 40 years, the song and emergence of Hulk Hogan generated one of the biggest pops in wrestling, getting everybody in the crowd on their feet and rocking. On this day, people were on their feet, but it was far from a warm welcome. It was booing, drowning out everything coming from the WWE Hall of Famer's mouth. He thanked the fans for supporting him his entire career. It didn't change the negative reception. That wound up being Hogan's final WWE appearance before his death on July 24. Should it have ended like that? No. But can you blame them? No. There isn't a way to measure what Hogan meant to wrestling. It might not be a worldwide phenomenon if it wasn't for him. He was a real-life Captain America, a larger-than-life inspiration and role model for the youth that if they ate their vegetables, took their vitamins and did the right thing, they too could be a superstar like him. He transcended the wrestling ring and paved the way for people like Dwayne Johnson and John Cena to find careers outside of the business. If there was a Mount Rushmore of wrestlers — just on their contributions to the business — there's no doubt Hogan would be there. But that's the thing; Hogan's career can't be viewed as just what he contributed to wrestling. It has to include the things that tainted his legacy, largely because of himself. It's no secret steroid use was rampant in the early days of WWE. But for years, Hogan denied using performance enhancements. How could the perfect role model cheat his way to the top? The mystique all came crashing down in 1994, when Hogan testified in United States v. McMahon, under immunity, he did take steroids. His admission came as he saved WWE founder Vince McMahon from prosecution. It should've been known it was the start of decades of countless lies and fabrications. For as big as Hogan was, his ego might've been larger. He was constantly feeding lies, trying to make himself look like the greatest thing to walk this planet. Whether it was saying Metallica wanted him as a bassist or MLB teams scouted him, Hogan wasn't afraid to lie. It even came at the expense of other wrestlers. He claimed The Undertaker hurt him at Survivor Series 1991, and the eventual WWE Hall of Famer wasn't fired only because video evidence saved him. Those lies within wrestling also came with him flexing the power he gained. Do you remember seeing Hogan lose? It was as rare as him telling the truth. He buried so much talent for his own personal gain, whether it was in WWE or WCW. So many stars left in the clutches of a man that couldn't envision anyone else being bigger than him. If it happened, there was a bus for Hogan to throw them under. It was so common, there's a meme in the wrestling community when a veteran wrestler beats younger talent, their name becomes (first name) Hogan. What a way to stay relevant. However, there's no greater negative impact Hogan had on wrestling than stopping the unionization of it. All Jesse Ventura's vision needed was Hogan's support. Instead, Hogan told McMahon of the plans, putting an end to wrestler's rights and leaving McMahon in the control of WWE. 'Still can't believe it's true': Jimmy Hart, Jerry Lawler react to Hulk Hogan death All that, and we haven't even touched what's happened outside of wrestling. What happened in 2015 ended any chance of Hogan being remembered in a positive light. The extremely racist rant — all done in a sex tape, mind you — showed not just who Terry Bollea was, but who Hogan is. He admitted in the clip he was racist. A real American, fighting for the rights of every man? Let me tell you something brother, that's far from the truth — but that's just on par for Hogan. With a legacy so tarnished, it made sense Hogan decided to go full-send on becoming a mascot for President Donald Trump during the 2024 election. And just in case we forgot about his views, he made sure to openly question former Vice President Kamala Harris' race and joke about wanting to body slam her, making sure we all knew exactly who he was up until the end. For those that used to be wrestling fans and remember watching Hogan be remarkable, the news of his death was likely a sad one. Spending time watching old clips, overcoming heels, reminiscing on how cool he was to watch and how ingrained he was in their childhood. But for those still following wrestling know it's a complex day that can't just celebrate and honor Hogan. His final WWE appearance is proof he damaged his reputation so much, it was impossible for him to be known as 'the immortal' Hulk Hogan again. While the chorus of boos rained in the arena and Hogan looking at the crowd for what ended up being the last time, commentator Michael Cole said something undoubtedly true. 'If it wasn't for Hulk Hogan, we would not be here tonight,' he said. It's a shame it can't be his full lasting legacy. 'Hulkamania' indeed ran wild, and that might have just been the problem.
