The Chief Minister directed the officers to prepare DPRs for both projects immediately.
MLAs Sanjay Awasthy and Vivek Sharma, Principal Advisor Media to Chief Minister Naresh Chauhan, and former MLA Bamber Thakur were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, apple farmers in Himachal Pradesh demanded a complete ban on the import of Turkish apples.
A joint delegation of fruit growers and farmers, led by Himachal Pradesh Sanyukt Kisan Manch Convener Harish Chauhan, submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister and President through the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
Speaking to ANI, Chauhan expressed deep anger over Turkey's support to Pakistan, particularly during Operation Sindoor. 'Turkey is an ally of our enemy nation. It supported Pakistan during a critical time when India was fighting against Pakistan. At the same time, back in February 2023, when a devastating earthquake hit Turkey, the Government of India helped them on humanitarian grounds. In return, Turkey stabbed us in the back by aiding Pakistan,' he said. (ANI)

UDISE, SARAL portals combined, reduces workload for schools
The Union Government's Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) portal and Maharashtra State Government's Systematic Administrative Reforms for Achieving Learning by Students (SARAL) portal have been combined for the academic year 2025, reducing non-teaching workload in schools and freeing up more time for teaching. A July 18 circular by Sanjay Yadav, state project director of Maharashtra Prathmik Shikshan Parishad, said that the information uploaded on the UDISE+ portal will be included in the SARAL portal, and care will be taken to ensure no student is left out of school. The deadline for schools to register the information online has been set at September 30. Information like the principal's name, phone number, and email id, along with the school's location, address, longitude and latitude, has to be entered in the online portal. Physical infrastructure like the school building, washrooms for boys and girls, drinking water facility, playground, library, electrical facilities, boundary walls, playground, computers, and laboratories must also be mentioned. Details of all students passing from class 2 to class 12 must also be updated. Benefits given to students like free uniforms, free textbooks, 25% RTE admissions, disabled students, scholarships, etc, must also be updated. The principal in-charge of a Pune Municipal Corporation-run school, who wished to remain anonymous, told The Indian Express, 'Combining UDISE+ and SARAL will definitely reduce the workload of principals and teachers. However, the government should reduce more online work as it eats into teachers' teaching time. Online information filling like DBT, VSK Chat bot, daily student attendance, midday meal attendance, etc, take up a lot of time and teachers are not able to give time to teaching adequately.' The circular mentioned that 95 per cent of students who were enrolled the previous academic year have had their Aadhar registered and that in the current academic year, the newly enrolled students' Aadhar cards must also be validated. It also mentioned that 86% students in the previous academic year had registered for the APAAR ID and for students not yet registered, permission should be obtained from the parents and the registration should be completed. It is important to note that the APAAR ID is not mandatory. A document on its website clearly stated, 'APAAR is not mandatory. While APAAR is a cornerstone initiative for enhancing academic tracking and flexibility, participation in the APAAR system is not compulsory. Institutions and students can choose to utilize this system to benefit from its features, such as holistic assessment and credit management, but there is no legal requirement mandating its use.' The circular states that 93% teachers have completed their Aadhar validation. Any teachers that face difficulties in validating their Aadhar should check if the details match. Teachers' educational details like or other qualifications must also be accurately recorded.

Iran will hold nuclear talks with European nations in Turkey, first since ceasefire with Israel
Iran said Monday (July 21, 2025) it would hold renewed talks this week with European nations over the country's nuclear programme, with discussions to be hosted by Turkey. The talks, to be held in Istanbul on Friday, will be the first since a ceasefire was reached after a 12-day war waged by Israel against Iran in June, which also saw the United States strike nuclear-related facilities in the Islamic Republic. A similar meeting had been held in the Turkish city in May. The discussions will bring Iranian officials together with officials from Britain, France and Germany — known as the E3 nations — and will include the European Union's foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas. 'The topic of the talks is clear, lifting sanctions and issues related to the peaceful nuclear programme of Iran," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said in his weekly briefing. He said the meeting will be held at the deputy ministerial level. Under a 2015 deal designed to cap Iran's nuclear activities, Iran agreed to tough restrictions on its international programme in exchange for an easing of sanctions. The deal began to unravel in 2018, when the United States pulled out of it and began to reimpose certain sanctions. European countries have recently threatened to trigger the 2015 deal's 'snapback' mechanism, which would allow sanctions to be reimposed in the case of non-compliance by Tehran. German Foreign Ministry spokesperson Martin Giese, asked who Germany will send to the talks and what its expectations are, said that 'the talks are taking place at expert level'. 'Iran must never come into possession of a nuclear weapon,' so Germany, France and Britain are 'continuing to work... at high pressure on a sustainable and verifiable diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear programme,' he said. 'This course of action is also coordinated with the US.' 'It's very clear that, should no solution be reached by the end of August... snapback remains an option for the E3,' Giese told reporters in Berlin. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a letter to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Sunday the three European nations lack 'any legal, political, and moral standing' to invoke such mechanisms, and accused Britain, France and Germany of failing to uphold their commitments in the deal. 'Attempting to trigger snapback' under these circumstances, in defiance of established facts and prior communications, constitutes an abuse of process that the international community must reject,' Araghchi said. He also criticised the three European nations for 'providing political and material support to the recent unprovoked and illegal military aggression of the Israeli regime and the US'. The US bombed three major Iranian nuclear sites in Iran in June as Israel waged an air war with Iran. Nearly 1,100 people were killed in Iran, including many military commanders and nuclear scientists, while 28 were killed in Israel. Araghchi stressed in the letter that his country is ready for diplomatic solutions. After US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the 2015 deal, Iran has gradually increased its nuclear activities, including enriching uranium up to 60%, a step away from weapons-grade nuclear materials, or 90% enrichment of uranium. Iran denies allegations it is seeking a nuclear weapon and has long said its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes only.
