Hollywood legend Michael Douglas drops career bombshell

After decades in the business and with dozens of films under his belt, Michael Douglas has 'no intention' of acting again.
The 80-year-old delivered the sad update for fans during a press conference at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival where he was presenting a newly-restored print of Miloš Forman's classic One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, according to V ariety.
'I have not worked since 2022 purposefully because I realised I had to stop,' Douglas told the audience in the Czech Republic.
'I had been working pretty hard for almost 60 years, and I did not want to be one of those people who dropped dead on the set. I have no real intentions of going back. I say I'm not retired because if something special came up, I'd go back, but otherwise, no.'
The Wall Street and Fatal Attraction star, who was diagnosed with throat cancer 15 years ago, but later revealed it had actually been tongue cancer, also talked about his health battle.
'Stage 4 cancer is not a holiday, but there aren't many choices, are there?' Douglas said.
'I went with the program, involving chemo and radiation, and was fortunate. The surgery would have meant not being able to talk and removing part of my jaw and that would have been limiting as an actor.'
It comes after Douglas, who is now cancer-free, told Deadline that he was 'enjoying' his break from being in front of the camera while focusing on his personal life and producing films.
Throughout his lengthy career, Douglas has earned plenty of accolades, including an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance as Gordon Gekko in 1987 film Wall Street.
He also produced the Jack Nicholson-led One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest in 1975, which went on to win Best Picture at the Oscars.
His other notable on-screen roles include in Romancing The Stone, Fatal Attraction, The War of the Roses, Basic Instinct, The American President and Solitary Man.
Douglas is married to actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, with whom he shares a son and a daughter, and also has a son, Cameron, with ex-wife Diandra Luker.

Meghan and Harry cutting staff to save cash: report

IN LONDON Prince Harry and Meghan's decision to part ways with their communications team was part of a cost-saving measure, according to a new report. The couple's staffing woes were again in the spotlight recently following reports six more members of their team had departed. Among them was Charlie Gipson, their European communications director, and Kyle Boulia, their LA-based deputy press secretary, who were let go after barely a year on the job. The Sun reported at the time that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had blamed them for failing to counter a spate of negative media coverage. However, according to Page Six, financial worries may have played a bigger role – with the publication adding that the tally of staff who have either resigned or been fired since they branched out on their own in 2020 actually around 25. 'It's the same old story – they cycle through staff as quickly as normal people cycle through toilet paper. Milk lasts longer than their employees,' a source told Page Six. It's also understood that Harry and Meghan's multimillion-dollar Netflix deal will expire this year. At the time it was signed, it was estimated to be worth around $100 million – although sources have since put that number closer to $20 million. Either way, the streaming service is now prioritising 'first look deals' rather than exclusive contracts, and therefore a new agreement could be worth significantly less for the couple, who have enormous overheads including the mortgage on their Montecito mansion, annual security and also staffing costs. Last month, when the Sussex team changes came to light, the UK's Telegraph claimed that, in total, six employees had left or been fired recently. Along with Gipson and Boulia, it reportedly included the head of operations at Archewell, Lianne Cashin, Archewell's director of communications, Deesha Tank, and Meghan's social media manager, who was reportedly already gone prior to her posting her viral dance video on Instagram. According to The Sun, Harry and Meghan have now employed a team from the US-based Method Communications and hired Emily Robinson – who previously looked after publicity for Netflix's The Crown – as their new director of communications. A former employee of Bill Gates, Sarah Fosmo, is Meghan's new chief of staff. Harry and Meghan's chief communications officer, Meredith Maines, told The Sun the staffing overhaul was about providing better 'access'. 'Transitioning from a team of two to an agency support staff of eight, operating across five different time zones, will give international media and stakeholders better access,' she said in a statement. However, the story inevitably reignited previous allegations of Meghan's management style, with an unflattering Vanity Fair article earlier this year painting her as a ruthless boss. One ex-staffer compared Meghan to a 'Mean Girls teenager', and described working on her Archetypes podcast as 'really, really awful' and 'very painful'. Others described 'taking extended breaks' to 'escape scrutiny' or 'undergoing long-term therapy' after working with her. Both Harry and Meghan have strenuously denied allegations of poor behaviour toward staff in the past.

Dannii Minogue gave a rare interview about marriage to Julian McMahon weeks before his death

While Dannii Minogue has yet to speak out on the death of her ex-husband Julian McMahon, she did give an insight into their brief marriage just one month before his death. The actress and singer, 53, rarely speaks publicly about her time with the Aussie actor, but just five weeks before he lost his battle to cancer, she gave a candid interview about their union back in the 90s. Speaking to How To Fail podcast with Elizabeth Day on May 28, Minogue discussed the factors that contributed to their divorce in 1995 after just one year of marriage. 'Now I don't think [the marriage] was a failure, but at the time that it ended, my world was very dark and bleak,' Minogue, who was just 23 at the time, reflected on the podcast episode. 'Love sweeps you off your feet and it is an incredible feeling, and I really got swept away and did not see what it actually was.' Minogue says her parents have had a long, happy marriage and that's what she wanted as well, but it wasn't meant to be. 'He was hunky and charming and always a big energy walking into a room and made me feel fantastic, until it didn't,' she said of her ex-husband, who she met on the set of Home And Away in 1991. When the host pointed out that McMahon came from an 'incredibly well connected' political family in Australia – his dad was former Prime Minister William McMahon and his mum way socialite and philanthropist Lady Sonia McMahon – Minogue said that this reality didn't help matters in their marriage. 'His father was a prime minister, but I knew him as an actor on Home and Away,' she said. 'I didn't meet him in that world. I wasn't exposed to that world – I'm still not. It's not my place. I had no intention of hanging out in that world.' 'His mother was very weary of me. She thought that I was wanting to be part of that world [and] that I was going to take, take, take from them. 'It was the furthest thing from the truth and not what I wanted at all. So she made it very clear that I was not to be around and she didn't want me a part of anything. Yet Julian wanted me to be his wife.' Another contributing factor to their split were their careers, she said. 'Julian wanted to go to America and work,' she shared. 'My work was in London and so I helped him set up in New York – he got on a soap opera [ Another World ] there and I committed to travelling back and forth because we were married.' But she said that each time she made the trip across the pond, there was 'just something not right'. 'Things I saw in the apartment, there were people around that I didn't know, and he was just very, very distant to the point that he called it off,' she said. Both went on to have successful careers in their chosen fields. Minogue released five studio albums and starred in numerous TV projects, including being a judge o n Australia's Got Talent, The X Factor Australia and The Masked Singer Australia. As for McMahon, he scored recurring roles on the hit series Profiler, Charmed, and, his most famous role yet, Nip/Tuck, which ran for six seasons in the US. While Minogue never remarried, McMahon was married to former Baywatch star Brooke Burns from 1999 to 2001, before marrying author Kelly Paniagua in 2014. He has one child from his relationship with Brooke, a 25-year-old daughter named Madison, and Minogue has a 15-year-old son, Ethan, with her ex-partner, British model Kris Smith.

Jessie J shares huge cancer update as she prepares to go under the knife

Jessie J has taken to social media to share a huge update in her heartbreaking cancer journey. In June she revealed her diagnosis and underwent surgery to remove her breast. In her latest post, the singer said that her results had revealed that she has 'no cancer spread' before thanking fans for their support. In the caption of a video recorded shortly before her operation, she wrote: 'AND. I AM OK. Results = I have NO cancer spread. Happy tears are real', followed by several crying emojis. 'Thank YOU for the prayers, the love, the well wishes, the joy and all the positive energy.' She continued: 'This video is from the night before my surgery. We called it baby boy. You are my biggest ray of light and with you in my life, the darkness will never win.' 'Lots of healing to go and one more surgery to make these cousins look more like sisters, but for now it's gratitude time and I am changing my name to The LopJess monster.' Jessie first underwent surgery on June 23, and she shared numerous photos and videos from the hospital on social media at the time. After the surgery, the Grammy nominee posted an Instagram story appearing to suggest her cancer was 'all gone.' However, she later clarified that this is 'NOT a fact' and that she was still waiting on her results. 'I pray it will be true soon but the journey of cancer isn't that simple unfortunately,' she said. Her latest remarks come after Jessie became visibly emotional when she told fans during her last performance that she intends to 'beat' cancer. 'Today, this show is my last show before I go to beat breast cancer!' she told the sellout crowd of 75,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. 'So it's so special to me you have no idea. I feel so special to be from the UK, to be an honest person and say how you feel.' 'This is my last show before go treatment and all the things It's the most special thing and I'm so grateful for this life, for you guys, for my career, to my, my son. My partner, my parents'. She added: 'My family, my band, my crew. We are so lucky, we have so much to live for, so much joy, so much, so many things to do'. The singer has been open about her health issues in the past, including a 2020 diagnosis of Ménière's disease, an inner-ear condition that can lead to severe dizziness and hearing loss. The following year, she revealed to her fans that she'd suffered a miscarriage, and last year she publicly shared that she'd been diagnosed with both obsessive–compulsive disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
