
Investigation underway into alleged homicide on Sturgeon Lake First Nation
Police believe it was an isolated incident but added that there will be a heavy police presence on the Nation Sunday.
They asked that people avoid the area and ask that people don't post anything about police activity on social media to ensure police and and public safety.

The Thunder Bay Police Service said an was on patrol Wednesday afternoon when an Automatic Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) flagged a vehicle with an owner whose licence was suspended. After pulling over the truck, the officer learned the driver was a mechanic test-driving the car – but further checks revealed the driver's licence was also suspended due to a prior stunt driving offence. As a result, the mechanic has been charged with driving while suspended 'Further investigation revealed that … the vehicle was not insured,' police said in a social media post related to the incident. 'Charges against the owner of the vehicle are pending.' Additionally, the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days at the owner's expense.

Man killed after crane collapses in northeast Saskatoon
The Saskatoon Police Service headquarters can be seen in this file photo. A man is dead after a crane collapsed at a construction site in northeast Saskatoon Saturday morning. According to the city's police service, officers were called to the scene of an 'industrial accident' on the 600 block of Webster Street at around 9:40 a.m. on July 5. Two men, aged 30 and 37, were injured when a crane collapsed at the site, police said. Both victims were transported to hospital, where the 30-year-old man from Fort Saskatchewan, Alta. was declared dead. His family has been notified. No update was provided regarding the status of the 37-year-old. Officers had been dispatched to a construction site on Webster Street in the city's northeast for an industrial accident. A crane collapsed at the site and two workers were injured and had to be taken to hospital. In an update, police say a 30-year-old man from Fort Saskatchewan, Alta., northeast of Edmonton, was pronounced dead and that family has been notified. There was no update about the 37-year-old man.
