Motorway shut after serious multi-vehicle crash

A major motorway was shut in one direction after a serious collision involving multiple vehicles. National Highways said the M40 northbound in Buckinghamshire was closed at about 01:30 BST. The closure was in place between Beaconsfield and the Denham interchange, which connects motorists with the M25. "We expect the road to remain closed until 08:00, possibly longer," a Highways spokesperson said. "This is due to a serious collision on approach to junction two involving several vehicles." Police, fire and ambulance services all attended the scene and a diversion was put in place. The Denham interchange at junction 1a is used by motorists wanting to access London Heathrow Airport. Joining with the M25, it also provides onward journeys to the M1, M4 and M11. National Highways advised motorists to factor delays into their journey times. Liverpool consult Jota's wife and confirm retirement of his number 20 shirt

Liverpool will retire Diogo Jota's No. 20 shirt across all teams, including LFC Women and the Academy, following his tragic death in a car crash alongside his brother Andre Silva. The club called it a 'unique tribute to a uniquely wonderful person,' with CEO Michael Edwards confirming it is the first squad number retirement in Liverpool's history. Liverpool will honour Jota ahead of Sunday's friendly against Preston with a minute's silence, digital tributes, black armbands, and a pre-match rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone. Liverpool are to retire Diogo Jota's number 20 shirt in honour of the Portugal forward who was killed with his brother Andre Silva in a car crash this month. "After consultation with his wife, Rute, and family, the club can announce the squad number will be retired in honour and memory of Diogo across all levels, including LFC Women and Academy," the club announced on Friday. "I believe this is the first time in Liverpool Football Club's history that such an honour has been bestowed upon an individual," the club's chief executive Michael Edwards noted. "Therefore, we can say this is a unique tribute to a uniquely wonderful person," he added. Liverpool return to action for the first time since the July 3 tragedy at English Championship side Preston in a pre-season friendly on Sunday. A rendition of Liverpool's anthem "You'll Never Walk Alone" will be played prior to the 1400 GMT kick-off and Preston will lay a wreath in front of the away supporters. A minute's silence will then be observed, digital tributes displayed on the stadium big screen and on pitchside advertising boards and players from both teams will wear black armbands. Father of three Jota, who married his long-term partner Rute Cardoso 11 days before the accident, died alongside his brother after a Lamborghini they were travelling in came off the road and burst into flames in northern Spain. Liverpool manager Arne Slot and a number of first-team players, led by captain Virgil van Dijk, attended Jota's funeral last Saturday.

Mamma Mia! This Might Be a Street-Legal Lamborghini Sesto Elemento

Remember the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento? How could you forget? Introduced in 2010, the ultra-limited, Gallardo-based hypercar packed a 5.2-liter V-10 tuned to 562 horsepower, and had carbon-fiber-everything—the chassis, the body, the driveshaft, even the wheels. With all that carbon fiber work, plus no stereo or air conditioning, the Sesto Elemento weighed just 2,202 pounds (or 999 kilograms). Unfortunately, that meant it wasn't street-legal—not that any of the 20 very lucky owners were likely to take their multi-million-dollar hypercar to the grocery store. But at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, Lanzante—the British tuning shop known for making track cars street legal—may have quietly introduced a street-legal version of the iconic Sesto Elemento. And we're obsessed. Admittedly, there aren't a lot of details on this car (yet). We've reached out to Lanzante in hopes of securing some official info. But a video from the user on TikTok shows the Sesto Elemento driving on public roads in the UK with the caption "Road legal Sesto Elemento." And it does have a real , actual license plate. The car, admittedly, doesn't look all that different from the track-only version introduced in 2020. But we can imagine there are a few hidden modifications under all that carbon that make this Sesto Elemento road-legal, at least in the UK. A second video posted to the Goodwood Festival of Speed's social channels confirms that this car, indeed, does come from Lanzante. The Sesto Elemento in question made a run up the Goodwood Hillclimb late yesterday. As mentioned, we've reached out to Lanzante to confirm that this is indeed the real deal. If this Sesto Elemento is indeed street-legal, it would be a world's first.
