SITTING in the driver's seat of his Maserati, Ryan Thomas chuckles as he realises he's got a pair of toddler's pants stuffed in his jeans pocket.
'That's dad life,' smiles the Coronation Street star, who has two children with his fiancée, former The Only Way Is Essex star Lucy Mecklenburgh – recently-potty-trained Lilah, three, and son Roman, five.

'When Lilah handed me a pair of pants today, it reminded me of when I was in a club and found a dummy in my pocket. I thought, 'What's my life come to?!''
Of course, this Manchester-born family man wouldn't have it any other way.
Within minutes of our chat, it's clear that after playing Jason Grimshaw in Corrie for 16 years, and then Rafael Humphreys in Neighbours in 2018, before winning Celebrity Big Brother the same year, and dazzling on last year's Dancing On Ice, fatherhood is Ryan's most celebrated role.
Family man
'When I sit around the table with all my children and Luce, I think, 'I made this'. It's those moments when I really appreciate what I've got,' he says.
Ryan also shares 16-year-old Scarlett, his actress daughter, with his ex, fellow Corrie star Tina O'Brien. But don't expect a fourth addition to his brood anytime soon.
'Never, never, ever, ever, ever, ever! I've got three beautiful children. I don't need any more, thank you very much!' he laughs.
'It's a full-time responsibility and really hard work for us parents, though it is the most rewarding job in the world.'
He dismisses the term 'blended family' by explaining: 'We're just a solid family, and that's how it will always be.'
The family relocated to Manchester in March, after seven years in Essex, largely to be closer to Scarlett, who lives up north with her mum.

'When I was in Essex, Scarlett was coming down frequently – she was there every weekend, school holidays – and then it wasn't happening as much.
"You know when they get to an age when their friends are more important than parents? I was really missing the day-to-day stuff, so I was like, 'We need to go home'.'
Ryan, 41, shares his 'biggest worry' as a parent is his teen daughter: 'I can't visibly see her, [I don't] wake up with her every morning or know what she's doing,' he says, joking he'll be poised when boyfriends inevitably come calling.
Biggest worry
'Have you ever seen Bad Boys II when Will Smith and Martin Lawrence come to the door and the boy asks to take the daughter out on a date? That's what will happen.
"It'll be me and my brothers standing there! It's always going to be difficult when your babies leave the nest, because they're always your babies. It doesn't matter how old they are.'
Scarlett was 14 when she landed her first major screen role, playing Izzy Charles in BBC drama Waterloo Road alongside her uncle, ex Emmerdale star Adam, 36.

There are now whispers she will bank 'at least' £2million by her 18th birthday from lucrative TV and social media work.
'I'm here for it! This is the best news I've ever heard!' roars Ryan, before shutting down claims that Scarlett is a 'nepo baby', AKA a child who's had a leg up into their famous parents' industry.
'Everyone thinks she gets a lift up from family, getting on Waterloo Road.
"But she worked damn hard to get that job, and people need to recognise that she's a talented girl – she's up against other people and she's not getting a free ride.
Everyone thinks she gets a lift up from family... she worked damn hard
Ryan Thomas on daughter Scarlett
'She has to go through the same process as everyone else – it was between her and somebody else. It wasn't like, 'This is a Thomas, she's going to get this job'.'
Scarlett often features in the family's hilarious YouTube and TikTok videos, alongside Ryan's twin brothers Adam and Love Island star, Scott, and their families.
More than 903k fans follow the @Thethomasfam__ TikTok account, which has 14.8 million likes – popularity that has prompted some to label them the UK's answer to the Kardashians.
'That's what everyone's screaming out for. Everything I see on socials, is like, 'Give these guys a reality TV show',' says Ryan, insisting that wasn't the goal when they 'fell' into TikTok last autumn.
But now there are 'conversations being had with TV production companies'.
He says: 'For me and my brothers, it's become a bit of a full-time job. We've probably done every show in the country, but now I get stopped on the street for being a TikToker.
"We're so lucky, it's a real privilege to be able to work with your family and have fun.'

How does he feel about the tiniest Thomases having public profiles, specifically Scarlett who's built a robust 179k following, but has had to deal with trolling since joining the platform?
'All the family have grown up in the public eye. Scarlett's an actress, so this seems very much aligned to where she's going.
"Plus, we never have the kids doing things they don't want to do,' insists Ryan.
And how about the exposure Scarlett is getting online?
'It can be difficult being a 16 year old, but that's what it's like for most teenagers, right?
"They're all looking at examples of how they're supposed to be, what they do and how they dress. In the forefront of their vision is Instagram and TikTok.
"It's frightening, but as long as you've got a loving family around you with a solid foundation, I think you can get through it.'
'Mad time of life'
That said, he is all in favour of a ban on children using social media until they turn 16 – the age Scarlett set up her accounts.
'We all can be addicted to social media at some point, even in our adulthood, so to protect our kids, I think that's a great idea.'
In 2021, Ryan announced he was turning his back on acting, after struggling to deal with being rejected for roles and experiencing social media trolling.
However, in March this year – the same month he and Adam launched their ITV game show 99 To Beat – Ryan was back on the Corrie cobbles filming the exit story line of his on-screen mum Eileen Grimshaw, played by Sue Cleaver.

He returned to screens two weeks ago in a storyline that saw Eileen quit the cobbles to run a bar in Thailand with her oldest son.
'When I was in Corrie, it was electric,' says Ryan. 'There were only four TV channels when I started, so it was instant fame, a mad time of life.
"To revisit that world and all the crew and cast and going back into the make-up room with all the same make-up girls was bloody magical.'
While he has no desire to return full-time to Corrie, did picking up his soap scripts rekindle a passion for acting?
'I did get a bit of a bug for it again, and you never know what's around the corner,' he replies, noting that he no longer cares about public opinion.
'I'm in my own world. I've got my own family now. I'm like, 'Whatever'. I just presented a bloody game show and I don't even know how to present.
I back myself as a dad, and I think that's because of the mistakes my dad made. I learned from them
Ryan Thomas
"Adam and I were up for two [awards] at the National TV Awards – for Best Presenter and Best Game Show – and I'm like, 'How did this happen?' We don't even know how to do it, but we're giving it a go!'
Full of infectious positive energy, Ryan isn't afraid to bare his soul, either, particularly as talk turns to his father, '70s soul singer Dougie James, who died unexpectedly, aged 72, in November 2020.
'I haven't talked about my dad for such a long time. God, I miss him every day.'
Ryan pauses for a few seconds, overcome with emotion.
'I think about him all the time. I've even got his ashes in my living room and he watches me every night.
"I haven't got to the point where I've been able to bury him, because I can't bring myself to not have him with me.
"I've asked the boys and they said they're OK with me having him there.'
Ryan was 12 and his twin brothers six when his dad – lead singer of Dougie James And The Soul Train, who once toured with The Jackson 5 – left the family, severing contact for seven years.
During those years of abandonment, Father's Day must have been really tough?
'Not Father's Day, but in general,' says Ryan. 'I was waiting for him to come back every day. I used to listen to a cassette [of him singing] in bed every night.
I was waiting for him to come back every day
Ryan Thomas
"It was very, very tough, but I wouldn't change any of it. It's made me who I am and made me a better father – stronger, more stable, responsible, present.
"I back myself as a dad, and I think that's because of the mistakes my dad made. I learned from them.'
Dougie's absence inadvertently gave Ryan a premature and unlikely grounding in fatherhood, as he stepped up to help mum Gail raise Adam and Scott, eventually financially supporting the family once he hit the big time in Corrie.
'Oh, I was their father, yeah,' he says. 'They are my kids. I know it sounds weird, but I brought them up. I did everything for them – I was that father for them, the man about the house. I'm obsessed with my brothers.
"They look at me like a brother, but I look at them like my children, [no] different from the way I look at my own kids, because they're just as important, just in a different way.'
Travelling to India in 2019 with his dad and brothers to film their ITV series Absolutely India: Mancs In Mumbai, where they unearthed their family's Indian roots, set a benchmark for future TV projects.
Ryan says: 'I'd love to do another project like that, where people get insight into us, but they also get insight into a culture, history, family and brotherhood.
'I would love to do a road trip with them. When we were kids, my nana drove us across Florida in a big red van and I remember it so vividly. I'd love to do that again, a big road trip with all the family.'
It was on another adventure, this time on a remote island in the Pacific in 2017, that Ryan met his wife, fitness and health entrepreneur Lucy, 33, while filming Channel 4's Celebrity Island With Bear Grylls.
I absolutely love my time with Lucy. I fancy her and I still get that feeling inside my tummy
Ryan Thomas
The couple got engaged in the summer of 2019, shortly before Lucy realised she was pregnant with Roman.
Six years on, they are no closer to setting a wedding date.
'We are having the conversations and it will happen, but when? We're always renovating and moving.
"When that stops and we stop enjoying ourselves, I think it will happen,' says Ryan – who celebrated his 40th birthday last June in Portugal with 80 of their nearest and dearest, an occasion that felt 'like a bit of a wedding'.
He and Lucy, who found fame on Towie in 2010, are planning a child-free holiday to Ibiza and have regular Thursday date nights.
'On our last date, we just went out for dinner. It's important to have a little time for yourselves amongst all the hustle and bustle. I absolutely love my time with Lucy. I fancy her and I still get that feeling inside my tummy.
"I absolutely adore her and love having time with her on my own. It's hard sometimes, though, because she never switches off, it's always just work or kids. So if I don't plan these date nights, then…'
He doesn't get a look in?
'It's all for me!' laughs Ryan. 'I need her all to myself!'
Father's Day, though, is entirely about family time.
'As long as I'm sitting around the table with my family, that's all that matters to me.
"And this year, I get to show off my two children on the front of Fabulous magazine. How cool is that?!'

Coronation Street's Claire Sweeney issues apology to very famous co-star she 'underrated'

Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney has opened up about working with the late Hollywood actor Patrick Swayze and how she forced him out of his 'nervous' behaviour Hollywood legend Patrick Swayze made his West End debut in 2006 when he took on the role of chronic gambler Nathan Detroit in the stage revival of Frank Loesser 's smash-hit musical Guys and Dolls. ‌ Playing opposite him as romantic lead Miss Adelaide was a thrilled Claire Sweeney: "I got to snog Swayze every night," she fondly remembered on the Speakmans' Hope Clinic podcast. ‌ However, when she and Patrick first began rehearsals Claire, who was then enjoying success following appearances in the the first series of both Celebrity Big Brother and Strictly Come Dancing, hadn't grasped just how hugely famous her co-star truly was. ‌ Claire remembered: "I was not a fan. I was not into him in Dirty Dancing and all that. I preferred Ray Winstone and people like that. He was not for me." She revealed that Patrick appeared "nervous" and was consistently hesitant to venture outside the rehearsal studio during breaks. ‌ Eventually, Claire decided she'd had enough and compelled him to join her for a lunch outing: "I took him to the local pub. Then I took him for a sushi. I went, come on, we're going out to stop all this behaviour." Claire explained that she had presumed Patrick believed he was more celebrated than he truly was, but then, on the production's opening night, she finally grasped why her co-star was so cautious about being spotted in public. Claire reminisced: "There were riot police in the street, I'll never forget it, outside the Piccadilly Theatre, the whole street was like The Beatles were there. ‌ "It was full of people screaming, couldn't get a ticket for the show. And I was like, ah, okay, yeah, he's a big star. Sorry, Patrick, I underrated you there." The Piccadilly Theatre revival had been a particularly star-studded production, with the likes of Neil Morrissey and Miami Vice star Don Johnson also appearing as Nathan Detroit at various points, while Claire followed Sarah Lancashire and Sally Ann Triplett as Adelaide. ‌ Claire has not only kept busy on stage, appearing shows such as Hairspray and Legally Blonde, as well as writing her own theatre production Sex and the Suburbs, but she's maintained a steady presence on our screens too. In April 2023, the former Brookside star went back to her soap roots when joined the cast of Coronation Street as Cassandra Plummer. She's not afraid of a little reality competition either, following up her Let's Dance for Comic Relief and Strictly appearances with a stint in the sixteenth series of Dancing on Ice. Patrick's career was cut short when he died of pancreatic cancer in 2009 at the age of just 57. Claire Sweeney appears on Countdown on Channel 4 at 2.10pm this afternoon (Friday, July 25).

Neighbours legend sparks rumours he's joining UK soap after bosses savagely axed show for a second time

He had a fun cameo on the show in 2022 NEIGHBOURS legend Alan Fletcher has revealed he wants to land a TV role in the UK and would love to "gatecrash" EastEnders. The 68-year-old Aussie soap veteran is currently focused on his music career and a 34-date UK and Ireland tour. The long-running soap has come to an end after Amazon MGM Studios decided against making more episodes beyond 2025. Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Alan says: "Like a lot of Aussie actors, I would crave to come and work in the UK. And I'm looking to try and find myself a UK agent because I think the UK makes some of the best television in the world. "I think in terms of comedy, which I love to be involved in, the Brits are like the Australians. We do understand satire and so there's incredibly sharp and witty television made here. "And in terms of drama, the thing I really love about being in the UK is seeing how older actors, and I put myself in that bracket now, how older actors really get a good run on television and film. And some of the best UK actors, of course, are the older contingents." Alan previously had a cameo in Albert Square in 2022 when he popped into the Bridge Street café and asked for a taxi. Kellie Bright's starstruck Linda Carter was lamenting Neighbours coming to an end (it was previously shelved in 2022) when Alan stepped in. Regarding a possible return to the show, Alan says: "That would be enormous fun as well, just to sort of gatecrash EastEnders. I actually went in and filmed a little skit of them a few years ago, which was enormous fun. Yeah, so there's all sorts of doors opening." But for now music takes precedence. He explains: "Now that I can dedicate myself to music, it takes an enormous amount of time to write and produce and record music and then to plan tours and to get out on the road. So, you know, it's an exhausting job." I collapsed after being rescued from terrifying drowning on Neighbours set, reveals Karl Kennedy star Alan Fletcher "I mean, this tour I'm on now around the UK, this is 34 venues. It's the length and breadth of the country. The logistics alone are incredible to plan, not to mention ticket selling. "So it's a very testing experience, and it's one I embrace and want to do more of." The Karl Kennedy star is on the promo trail for his latest single, Back To School, a poignant ballad on how to nurture a loving relationship. "The title was about what I've learnt in studying philosophy, that love is something you can't take for granted, you have to really look at it," says Alan. "I mean, that's a bit of a cliche, but a lot of people don't spend the time. So it's really saying, let's get back to school and learn how to love. "It's a very musical, laid-back track, and it gets a great reaction from people." Both Alan and wife Jennifer went back to school, as it were, when they attended a lecture on love by philosopher Alain de Botton that helped to improve their own relationship. "It was quite transformative for us, because it reminds us that perfect love is a bit of an 18th century creation," says Alan. "And in reality, we all love each other's flaws, rather than trying to change each other. "And once we heard that, and kind of accepted that, and went, 'yes, absolutely, that's what it is'. So now if either one of us in the relationship do something that the other one would normally think is annoying or troublesome, now we look at it and go, 'oh, it's adorable that you do that'. 4 Alan has played Karl Kennedy since the mid-90s Credit: Courtesy of Freevee 4 The tour comprises of 34 dates and is underway now Credit: Lime Tree Music "So just accepting that we are who we are, and trying to change people, mold them to be the perfect human being, is a waste of time." At the tail end of last year Alan also released a classic slice of Americana in Tell 'Em, a duet with Jennifer that tells the tale of lost love. "It really is the first cut, the deepest I suppose, that notion of the first relationship you have and how it kind of never leaves you, even though you break up and move on with your life and you have other loves, there's some little tiny part of you that's still wishes that somehow you've been able to work it out all those years ago. "So essentially just saying, look, I know we'll never be together, but I just think of you all the time, or in flashes." Both tracks will be joining Alan on his tour which is taking place now and runs until September. Armed robber who dated Towie star is ordered to pay back just £25 after tying up and threatening to kill mother and daughter in terrifying £220,000 Sandbanks mansion raid

An armed robber who dated a Towie star has been ordered to pay back just £25 to a mother and daughter who he tied up and threatened to kill in a terrifying £220,000 Sandbanks mansion raid. Career criminal Kirk Holdrick, also known as Aaron Evans, and his accomplice Ashley Fulton held both Kerry and Emily Aitchison at gunpoint during the horrifying incident at their luxury £2.5million Poole harbour home in February 2023. In 2022, Holdrick went on a string of dates with former The Only Way is Essex Star Hannah Voyan, who was axed from the show after debuting in its 30th series. The couple were seen publicly holding hands while leaving a restaurant in Mayfair, London, alongside other Towie co-stars including Chloe Brockett. Now, it has been revealed that Holdrick will have to pay a mere £25 in compensation to the traumatised Aitchison family, despite the pair making a collective total of £221,348 from their heinous crime. During the petrifying raid, Holdrick and Fulton tied up Ms Aitchison and threatened to burn Emily, 22, with an iron and shoot her mother in front of her if she didn't open the safe. But brave Ms Aitchison, 55, called the two thieves 'scum of the earth' and refused to give them the code. In just 30 minutes, the pair ransacked the property, fleeing with £220K worth of stolen luxury goods, including a unique Patek Phillipe watch. While they were never recovered, the pair made a catalogue of errors that eventually led police to their door. But Holdrick, 43, has just £26.66 to pay as compensation to the Aitchison family while Fulton, also 43, has £4,156, a hearing at Bournemouth Crown Court has heard. While the courts can only seize available assets from convicted criminals, the Crown Prosecution Service can revisit the order if either Holdrick or Fulton come into additional money in the future. On February 21, 2023, the career criminals deliberately targeted the home of Mark Aitchison, the chief executive officer of Colten Care, which owns 21 care homes in the south of England. His wife Kerry, a personal trainer and physio, was the only one home when the pair knocked at around 1pm. To gain entry to the home in an exclusive cul-de-sac the pair posed as police officers investigating a rape. Then, after the door was answered, they barged their way in and bound Ms Aitchison with cable ties and threatened to kill her if she didn't give them the code to the safe. Around half an hour later, the pair seemed 'on the cusp of leaving' when daughter Emily, an estate agent, came home on her lunch break. One of the men held a gun to her head, dragged her by the hair and threatened to shoot her and burn her with an iron. Emily bravely entered the code wrong twice and then told them if she did it wrong a third time it would trigger the alarm. The panicked robbers eventually fled the scene and Emily was able to run to a neighbour's house to raise the alarm and then cut her mother free. The pair were eventually caught after their DNA was found all over the property and the get away car, registered to Fulton's address, was discovered on CCTV. Mobile phone records later showed Fulton had Googled the exact rare model of Patek Philippe watch they had stolen two hours after the heist. Police also found online orders made by Fulton for police ID wallets and lanyards the pair used to trick their way into the Aitchison home. Holdrick had been given a life sentence for armed robberies in 2004. He had escaped from prison and carried out a gunpoint raid on a jewellery store in Essex two days later and then an armed robbery on a Securicor van. Branded a 'dangerous offender' who posed a significant risk of harm to the public by a judge who bailed him at Bournemouth Crown Court, Holdrick was out of prison on licence at the time of the Sandbanks raid. The court heard he had 22 previous convictions for 110 offences. Holdrick was arrested at a ferry terminal in Birkenhead on April 18 with a Rolex watch and a fake passport. Fulton and his girlfriend Lacey Langton, were arrested by armed police at a Heathrow hotel on May 14. In their room, police found thousands in cash, four mobile phones and a bag of watches and jewellery, none of which was connected to the robbery. Outlining the negative impacts of the horrifying robbery on her emotionally, Ms Aitchison previously told the court: 'Home should feel a safe place, a sanctuary, a haven. For me it's a crime scene where I thought myself and my daughter would be killed. 'I am a mere shadow of my former self because of this violent intrusion. Gone is the positive, vibrant outgoing woman and in her place is someone I don't recognise.' Meanwhile, Judge William Mousley KC said that both Kerry and Emily Aitchison 'were subjected to a terrifying ordeal' that had left 'severe psychological harm'. Judge Mousley praised the mother and daughter for their 'courageous' personal statements which 'powerfully expressed' the impact the ordeal had on them. To Holdrick, he said: 'You are a dangerous offender, you pose a significant risk of serious harm to the public. Your previous offences and the facts of these offences, the high level of danger you impose, which will in my judgment remain indefinitely, all support the imposition of a sentence of life imprisonment. 'However I must consider the available alternatives.' James Hay, defending, insisted that Holdrick was 'already serving a life sentence so the public can be adequately protected without the need to impose a second such sentence.' In September last year, Holdrick pleaded guilty to two robberies, possession of an imitation firearm and one count of fraud for a false passport. Judge Mousley decided a second life sentence for Holdrick's role in the heist would not be appropriate but made an extended sentence of 16 years - 12 in custody and four years on licence. Holdrick would need to go before a parole board before he could be released for the previous life sentence. Meanwhile, Fulton admitted two counts of robbery, possession of an imitation firearm, three offences of fraud and three of possessing ID documents with improper intent, one of possession of an article for use in fraud and possession of cocaine. He was handed a life sentence, with a minimum term of nine years and 192 days before he can be considered for parole. Langton, from Wareham, Dorset, admitted perverting the course of justice and possessing an identity document with improper intent. She picked up false ID documents for Fulton in his son's name and was arrested with him at a Heathrow hotel in May last year. The 23-year-old was jailed for 14 months for her part in the crime.
