FAW creates murals to celebrate Cymru women's football team
The murals are part of a campaign celebrating the team's first-ever qualification for a major international tournament, the UEFA Women's EURO 2025.
Created by local artists and installed at schools and football clubs across Wales, each mural honours a player from the squad and the communities that shaped them.
Louise Burgess, FAW Euro 2025 project lead, said: "We want our history-making players to be celebrated and become household names, not just in the football world, but in the places that made them who they are.
"These murals are about the importance of legacy and a celebration of Welsh creativity, culture and community.
"They highlight the power of place and the vital importance of visibility for women in sport and society."
The project is funded by the Welsh Government's Euro 2025 Partner Support Fund.
Murals have begun appearing since late June, with more installations planned throughout the summer.
A headteacher at one of the mural locations, Sarah Jane Jones, said: "Women in sport should be celebrated, and we are proud to be a part of this campaign."

Tough Swiss loss left Wales star Fishlock questioning future
Wales' record goal-scorer Fishlock and her team-mates have been telling the story of Welsh women's football's journey in a BBC documentary titled Euro 2025: Together Stronger. After losing in a World Cup play-off final against Switzerland in 2022, Fishlock was left questioning her career in the game. 'I didn't really know what to do and I remember being with my mum and I was just crying, saying 'I just don't think I can do this again',' said Fishlock. 'There were so many campaigns where we were almost there, and I just didn't think I could do it again.' However, Fishlock and the Wales squad are now preparing for a first ever appearance at a major tournament. Rhian Wilkinson's side are one of 16 nations competing in this summer's European Championships and Wales open their campaign against the Netherlands on Saturday. Euro 2025: Together Stronger airs on BBC One at 10.40pm on tomorrow and the programme will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

Euro 2025 kicks off with extreme heat warnings
Extreme heat warnings have been extended to cover the first three days of the Euro 2025 women's football tournament in Switzerland. Temperatures are expected to reach up to 35C, with evening kick-offs still seeing temperatures around 30C, such as for Switzerland's opening game against Norway in Basel. UEFA has relaxed security rules to allow supporters to bring water bottles into stadiums and will provide free sunscreen at fan parks. Cooling breaks are permitted for players when temperatures exceed 35C, and referees can also decide to allow stoppages in extremely hot conditions. Norway's English head coach, Gemma Grainger, stated that the weather is not an excuse and will be the same for both teams.

France coach quoted Einstein before dropping captain Wendie Renard from Euro 2025 squad
France 's captain Wendie Renard and all-time leading goalscorer Eugenie Le Sommer were dropped by head coach Laurent Bonadei before Euro 2025, leaving Les Bleues without their two most experienced players as they play England, Wales and Netherlands in Group D. Renard and Le Sommer were left out by Bonadei for France's Nations League games against Switzerland and Iceland before the Euros and did not return to make his 23-player squad. Centre-back Renard, 34, has played 168 times for France and captained her country at last summer's home Olympic Games in France, while Le Sommer has scored a record 94 goals in 200 appearances. France have never won a major international tournament and Bonadei, who was assistant to Herve Renard at the 2023 World Cup and Olympics before taking the reins, defended his decision by saying it had been planned for some time. 'These are tough choices,' Bonadei said last month. 'They are difficult to make and difficult to announce to the players. It's a decision that's hard to hear, hard to understand and almost impossible for them to accept because they're legendary players for the French team. 'I didn't make this decision on the spur of the moment. You'd think, given the timing, that this is crazy but it's not. As Einstein said: 'Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.' I want different results for this team so I have gone with a different selection. 'It's something I've been thinking about since the start of the season. When I announced that everyone had a chance, that no one was indispensable, in my mind it wasn't just about giving young players a chance but also players who had suffered psychologically after the Olympic Games and making sure that everyone was involved.' France play holders England in their opening game of the Euros on Saturday in the tournament's 'group of death'. Centre-back Griedge Mbock has been named as France's captain, having been vice-captain behind Renard at the last Olympics.
