Shi Yinle, the abbot of the White Horse Temple, has been named as the new head of the famed Shaolin Temple, known globally for its deep-rooted Buddhist traditions and martial arts heritage.
The announcement was made in a brief statement released by the temple.
The state-run Xinhua news agency on Tuesday reported that Shi Yinle's appointment was approved after democratic reviews by the monastic community of the temple and other relevant procedures.
The move comes after the removal of 60-year-old Shi Yongxin, who had led the temple for 25 years.
According to official media reports on Sunday, Shi Yongxin was found to have seriously violated Buddhist precepts by maintaining improper relationships with multiple women over an extended period and fathering illegitimate children.
He is currently under joint investigation by multiple authorities, the reports said.
Founded in 495 AD, the Shaolin Temple is situated in the foothills of Song Mountain in China's Henan province. It is regarded as the birthplace of Chan (Zen) Buddhism and Shaolin Kung Fu. It holds immense religious and historical significance.
It is also a popular tourist destination and renowned worldwide as a hub for Chinese martial arts, drawing students from across the globe.

Who is Christian Coleman? Exploring personal details of Olympic sprinter following his girlfriend Sha'Carri Richardson's arrest

Christian Coleman. Image via: Jewel Samad/AFP via Getty Images As headlines swirl around Sha'Carri Richardson's recent arrest, much attention has turned toward her boyfriend, fellow sprinter Christian Coleman. He has made his status in the sprinting world as a towering figure in American track and field. Coleman's athletic prowess is undeniable. But who is the man at the center of this controversy, and what's the context surrounding the incident that briefly rocked the world of elite sprinting? Who is Sha'Carri Richardson's boyfriend, Christian Coleman? Christian Coleman is one of the fastest sprinters in the United States. The 29-year-old from Atlanta holds the world record in the 60 meters with an eye-watering time of 6.34 seconds, set in 2018. That mark remains untouched. He was also a key part of the U.S. 4x100m relay team that clocked 37.10 seconds in 2019, a national record. Though his name has sometimes flown under the radar compared to his flashier peers, Coleman's speed off the blocks is widely regarded as the best in the sport. In the current 2025 season, he ran 10.06 in the 100m, not his personal best, but still enough to place him among the top-tier sprinters globally, currently ranked 11th in the world. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Libas Purple Days Sale Libas Undo His 100m PR is 9.76 seconds, which places him firmly in the all-time elite. But recent headlines haven't focused on lane times or podium finishes. They've centered on something personal, even involving him. Christian Coleman's girlfriend, Sha'Carri Richardson, arrested after airport altercation Sha'Carri Richardson, the reigning 100m world champion and Olympic gold medalist in the 4x100m relay, was arrested on Sunday at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. According to a police report, the 25-year-old got into an argument with Coleman, whom she's been dating for two years. The officer claimed that surveillance footage showed Richardson shoving Coleman multiple times and throwing what appeared to be headphones as he attempted to walk away. The altercation was labeled a fourth-degree domestic violence assault, but the case was quickly cleared. Coleman reportedly refused to press charges and 'declined to be a victim.' Despite the dramatic turn of events, both athletes were back on the track within days. Richardson posted her season-best time of 11.07 in the 100m prelims, while Coleman ran 10.08 in his heat. Though Richardson later withdrew from the 100m final — for which she already holds a bye into the World Championships — she has decided to run the 200m after initially saying she wouldn't. In an interview after her heat, Richardson seemed unfazed. 'Right now I'm cruising under the radar,' she said. 'But when it's time to hit — it's gonna be a bang where y'all see my name.' US Sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson Arrested For Alleged Assault On Partner

Last Updated: Richardson was arrested for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend at Seattle-Tacoma Airport. Despite this, she will compete in the 200m at the US Track and Field Championships. US sprint star Sha'Carri Richardson found herself embroiled in another controversy on Friday after being arrested for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend, Christian Coleman, just before the US Track and Field Championships in Oregon. Police in Washington State reported that the 25-year-old 100m world champion was detained on Sunday night following an altercation with Coleman at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. An email to AFP from Port of Seattle Police detailed Richardson's arrest, citing security video footage that captured a verbal dispute between Richardson and Coleman as they exited a security screening. 'Richardson is following and getting close to Coleman several times as Coleman appears to be trying to walk away," the report states. 'Richardson then pushes Coleman hard enough that it sends him crashing into a nearby column…. she again pushes Coleman, again hard enough that it sends him flying a few feet away." Richardson then threw a set of headphones at Coleman, who declined to participate in the investigation and 'declined to be a victim," according to the officer's report. However, USATF officials later confirmed that Richardson—already qualified for the 100m at September's World Championships in Tokyo—had decided to compete in the 200m this weekend. 'She initially told us she would not run in the 200m, but she never formally scratched. She has since informed us she will now enter the 200m," a USATF spokesperson told AFP. Marred By Controversies This incident is just another in a series of controversies surrounding Richardson's career. She was famously barred from competing at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 after testing positive for marijuana following her victory at the US trials while grieving her biological mother's death. In 2023, she was removed from an American Airlines flight after an argument with a flight attendant. The Texan athlete had given no hint of her latest controversy when speaking to journalists on Thursday after her opening 100m heat. She did not mention her arrest earlier in the week and was not questioned about it. As the defending world champion, Richardson already had a guaranteed spot at the World Championships in Japan for the 100m and was not obligated to compete in Eugene this week. On Thursday, Richardson expressed her relief at competing in Eugene, knowing her place on the Tokyo team was secured. 'USA is one of the hardest teams to make, so it definitely is a kind of a release of pressure knowing I have a bye," she told AFP. 'It feels really good to not have that pressure and still be able to go to Tokyo. 'Right now I'm cruising under the radar, but when it's time to hit — it's going to be a bang where y'all see my name," she said. Richardson's dramatic day coincided with men's 100m world champion Noah Lyles withdrawing from the remaining rounds of the short sprint. Lyles, already qualified for Tokyo, will compete in the 200m on Sunday. Olympic women's 200m champion Gabby Thomas has also withdrawn from the rest of the 100m and will focus on the 200m. Four Killed In Shooting At Montana Bar In US

Four people were killed in a bar shooting in Anaconda, US state of Montana, local media reported, citing law enforcement officials. The shooting occurred on Friday at The Owl Bar in Anaconda, a city located in southwestern Montana, Xinhua news agency reported quoting NBC Montana. The suspect was identified as Michael Paul Brown, according to a Facebook post by the Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Law Enforcement Center. "Be advised that the suspect in the shooting is believed to be armed and dangerous," said the post. Officials posted a photo of the suspect on Facebook and advised the public to stay out of the Stumptown area and surrounding areas. Montana Highway Patrol also said in a Facebook post that there is a "heavy law enforcement presence west of Anaconda near Stumptown Road and Anderson Ranch Loop Road." "Authorities are searching for a suspect believed to be armed. Please avoid the area," the agency added. As reports of the shooting spread through town, business owners locked their doors and sheltered inside with customers. At Caterpillars to Butterflies Childcare, a nursery a few blocks from the shooting scene, owner Sage Huot said she'd kept the children inside all day after someone called to let her know about the violence. The owner of the Firefly Cafe in Anaconda said she locked up her business at about 11 a.m. Friday after getting alerted to the shooting by a friend. "We are Montana, so guns are not new to us," café owner Barbie Nelson said. "For our town to be locked down, everybody's pretty rattled."
