Hackers Steal Rs 380 Crore In Cryptocurrency From CoinDCX, Employee Arrested
Bengaluru police are investigating a massive cryptocurrency theft from leading crypto exchange CoinDCX after hackers allegedly siphoned off nearly $44 million (approximately Rs 384 crore) from the company's wallets.
The theft came to light on July 19, when CoinDCX detected suspicious activity in its systems. According to the First Information Report filed on July 22 by Hardeep Singh, Vice President of Public Policy and Government Affairs at CoinDCX, the hackers first carried out a small test transfer of just 1 USDT at 2:37 a.m. Hours later, they made a massive transaction worth $44 million
To avoid detection, the stolen cryptocurrency was moved through multiple wallets, making it difficult to trace.
During the investigation, police found evidence of possible insider involvement and arrested Rahul Agarwal, a CoinDCX employee.
Sources said Agarwal had been freelancing using a company-issued laptop without permission and had reportedly earned around Rs 15 lakh over the past year. Investigators believe he may have worked with external hackers to pull off the heist.
Cybercrime teams are now working with forensic experts to track the flow of funds and recover the stolen cryptocurrency.

The case pertains to a 48-year-old woman who was working as a domestic help at the family's Gannikada farmhouse in Hassan district's Holenarasipura. She was allegedly raped twice in 2021 and the act recorded by the accused on his mobile phone. He is the prime accused in four criminal cases filed last year, after over 2,000 obscene video clips, allegedly depicting the sexual abuse of multiple women, surfaced on social media. As the allegations were revealed, the survivor was allegedly abducted at the behest of Revanna's parents to prevent her from testifying against their son. Later, she was rescued from a farmhouse as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) swung into action to probe the case. As he faced criticism, Revanna fled to Germany soon after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, he was arrested when he returned to India on May 31, 2024. He has been in jail since. Horse race betting racket busted in Hyderabad; four held, Rs 8.34 crore transactions under probe
HYDERABAD: The Rachakonda police have arrested four persons for operating an illegal horse race betting racket and seized Rs 2 lakh in cash. They also froze Rs 2.42 lakh in their bank accounts. The accused — identified as Thokala Nagesh, Borra Venkaiah Chowdhary, Challa Ramesh Babu, and D Sunil — were actively involved in organising the betting operation. The key accused, Nagesh, hails from Old Guntur in Andhra Pradesh. A graduate from Mahaveer College, Nagarjuna University, he previously worked at Hewlett-Packard (HP) in Chennai. During his stay there, he developed an addiction to betting on horse races. In 2020, due to a recession and a personal health crisis, Nagesh moved to Hyderabad, where he met M Rajesh Kumar and Venkat Chowdary from Vijayawada. With their assistance, he ventured into illegal horse race betting. After splitting from his associates, Nagesh began independently organising betting operations from rented accommodations across Hyderabad. In 2024, he shifted to Tirumala Enclave, Dammaiguda, and established a betting network under the guise of 'Shinewell Enterprises' — a WhatsApp group with 105 members, including 20 from Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The accused lured victims by promising high returns on investments, trapping them in the illegal gambling ring. Investigations found Rs 8.34 crore in suspicious transactions in bank accounts linked to them. The Rachakonda police have urged the public to avoid betting, emphasising its potential to destroy lives and lead to financial ruin. They also requested citizens to report illegal activities in their neighbourhoods, stressing the importance of community cooperation in maintaining a crime-free society.

Graduates among 228 held in nationwide cybercrime crackdown by Telangana bureau
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) apprehended 228 accused persons, including 27 female offenders, for their involvement in various cybercrime offences across India between January 1 and July 31, 2025. Among the 228 accused, 93 are from Telangana. The arrests were carried out across several states, including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Jharkhand. A majority of the accused—149 out of 228 belong to the 18 to 30 years age group. Most of them are educated, with 49 being graduates, 18 graduates, and one Law graduate. This year's crackdown targeted a wide range of cybercrimes, including fake call centres, job scams, child exploitation, and cyber slavery rings. The enforcement effort, which included three special operations conducted by TGCSB during this period, led to a 13 percent decline in cybercrime cases in Telangana during the first half of the year. The 228 arrested individuals are linked to 1,313 cybercrime cases across India and 189 cases in Telangana, involving a total fraud of Rs 92 crore.
