Carens Clavis fuels Kia's growth in May, electric version likely next month

Surprisingly, the company announced that the new product from Kia will be launched in July. This is likely to be the Kia Carens Clavis based EV, Kia's first India made electric vehicle. Crafted to shake up its segment, the new offering will harmoniously integrate sustainability with Kia's design prowess and sophisticated technology, carefully designed to address the changing mobility aspirations of Indian customers, the company said.
The new Kia Carens EV would feature a design that is akin to the Carens Clavis. There would be certain unique styling features as well. Being an electric vehicle, it would feature a closed off grille akin to the Kia EV9. Also, there would be redesigned front and rear bumpers, and the alloy wheels also would have new design. The spyshot indicates that it would have increased ground clearance and there would be new suspension design as well.
Kia Carens EV would be equipped with a myriad of features. It's reasonable to expect a digital instrument cluster and 12.25 touchscreen infotainment system like the Kia Carens Clavis along other expected features such as an air purifier, 360-degree surround camera, wireless phone charger.

The new Kia Carens EV is said to take the majority of its powertrain from the new Hyundai Creta EV. If that happens, it would take juice from a 45 kWh battery pack coupled with an electric motor that is used in the low-end Hyundai Kona EV worldwide. The Carens EV should receive a front axle-mounted electric motor. Kia does not yet announce any specification information regarding the EV. Nonetheless, anticipate that the Carens EV provides plenty of range on a single charge.

As for optics, the S25 FE is expected to pack a triple camera setup with a 50MP primary shooter with OIS, an 8MP 3x telephoto lens with OIS, and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. While the rear camera setup is more or less the same as the one on the S24 FE, the new device could have a slight upgrade on the selfie shooter with a 12MP sensor instead of the 10MP shooter on its predecessor. The S25 FE is also expected to come with a slightly bigger battery with a 4,900mAh setup compared to the 4,700mAh battery on the last-generation device. Charging speeds are also likely to rise from 25W on the S24 FE to 45W on the latest device. There could also be support for 15W of wireless charging on the S25 FE. The upcoming Samsung device could run on the Exynos 2400 processor, which could theoretically provide better performance than the lower-clocked Exynos 2400e on the S24 FE. The phone is tipped to come in two storage options: 8GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GB RAM/256GB storage. The Galaxy S25 FE is said to run on One UI 8 based on Android 16. Samsung had promised seven years of OS updates and security patches for the S24 FE and Galaxy S25 series, and the same could be followed for the upcoming device.

Car sales in July show mixed trends as rural demand slows, festive hopes rise
Indian passenger vehicle market posted a mixed July 2025 with some companies posting marginal or negative growth in signs of weakening domestic demand, a PTI report said. While Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) posted an increase in dispatches, its competitors like Tata Motors and Hyundai Motor India posted year-on-year declines. Mahindra and Kia defy slowdown Conversely, Mahindra & Mahindra recorded a 20 per cent year-over-year rise in sales of utility vehicles at 49,871 units. The company's recent model refreshes and variant additions under the XUV 3XO and electric models are cited as reasons. Kia India also reported a growth of 8 per cent, selling 22,135 units in July. The company said its consistent performance reflects growing trust in the brand despite a challenging environment. Royal Enfield saw strong domestic growth of 25 per cent, with 76,254 units sold, while Bajaj Auto's sales slipped 13 per cent to 1,83,143 units. Outlook hinges on festive season, rural revival With the festive season in sight, automakers are banking on the same for better days. Early booking trends in markets such as Kerala and prospects of a good monsoon and increased MSPs (Minimum Support Prices) are set to boost recovery. But high vehicle prices and uncertainty in the economy will keep its shadow over near-term demand, especially in entry-level and rural markets.
