Vashu Bhagnani Regrets Making Bade Miyan Chote Miyan With Ali Abbas Zafar: 'Made The Biggest Mistake'
Vashu Bhagnani regrets making Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Ali Abbas Zafar, calling it a mistake and vowing to revive the franchise with David Dhawan's comedic flair.
Veteran producer Vashu Bhagnani has opened up about the debacle of his 2024 action film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, headlined by Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. In a candid conversation with Ronak Kotecha on his YouTube channel Reviewron, Vashu admitted that the film's failure still stings and he considers it a misstep—especially in hindsight of what the original 1998 film achieved.
Participating in a rapid-fire round, Vashu didn't mince words when asked for his thoughts on the latest version of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. 'Bahut acchi film thi pehli waali, Amitabh Bachchan aur Govinda waali. Second waali theek nahi thi," he remarked, clearly differentiating the beloved original from its rebooted successor.
Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the 2024 version aimed to reinvent the title as a high-budget science fiction action film, but failed to click with audiences. Despite a promising opening day, the film's theatrical run fizzled out quickly. Made on a hefty budget of ₹350 crore, it managed to gross only ₹111.5 crore worldwide, earning the unfortunate tag of a box office bomb.
Vashu didn't hold back when reflecting on the decision to collaborate with Zafar. 'I made the biggest mistake by making Bade Miyan Chote Miyan Part 2 with Ali Abbas Zafar. He didn't understand the title," he said. 'We got tired of telling him that this is a comedy film. You can add action, but at least make it an action-comedy."
The original 1998 Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, directed by David Dhawan, was a riotous double-role comedy starring Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda. Released alongside Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, it still managed to emerge as a box office success, solidifying its place in '90s Bollywood nostalgia.
Now, Vashu hopes to redeem the brand with a reboot truer to its roots. 'When I make it again, I'll get Rumi Jaffery ji to write the story. And if David Dhawan ji doesn't direct it, I'll ask him to produce it with me, because his mind works fast when it comes to comedy."
While the 2024 version tried to modernize the franchise with a star-studded cast including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manushi Chhillar, and Alaya F, its detour from comedy to high-octane action proved to be its undoing. Now, all eyes are on what Vashu does next to revive the legacy of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan—with laughter, not lasers.

Because, I made my calculation you know, main calculate karke gayi thi ki dekho abhi Asin ne yeh film Tamil mein bhi kari hai, Telugu mein bhi kari hai aur Kannada mein bhi kari hai, maybe, that Ghajini film. She's done it in all languages. She's already an actress, for many years. Obviously usko nahi denge! Debut toh mera hua hai, main nayi hun, maine nayi film mein kaam kiya hai. Rashmika Mandanna faces flak from Kodava community for claiming she's 1st Coorgi actor: ‘Forgot Prema, Gulshan Devaiah?'
A simple Google search for 'actors from Coorg' reveals a list of artists who have made it big in the film industry—from Prema to Varsha Bollamma and Gulshan Devaiah. This is why people from the Kodava community are miffed at Rashmika Mandanna for claiming she's 'probably the first actor' to enter this industry from Coorg. People were quick to correct her, as was actor Neravanda Prema. Rashmika Mandanna and her family hail from Coorg in Karnataka and she recently claimed to be the first actor from her community. What did Rashmika Mandanna say? In an interview with Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story last week, Rashmika spoke about how her family reacted when she told them she wanted to be an actor. She said, 'Conversations back home when I got my first paycheck weren't easy. Because, you know, in the Coorg community, nobody has ever entered the film industry. I think I am the first one in our whole community to have entered the industry. People were extremely judgy.' Nervanda Prema says Kodava actors paved the way for Rashmika Mandanna As per a Koduga Express report, famous Kannada actor Neravanda Prema, who was famous in the 1990s and early 2000s, responded when asked about Rashmika's statement, 'What is there for me to say? The Kodava community knows the truth. You should ask her (Rashmika) about her version of the statement. What can I say about it?' However, she also pointed out that long before Rashmika's entry into films, others had paved the way for her. 'Before me, there was an actor, Shashikala from Coorg, who played supporting roles. Then I entered the film industry, and later many Kodavas have done well,' said Prema, who is known for her successful career in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam cinema and is a recipient of the Karnataka State Film Award and Filmfare Best Actress awards. Internet calls out Rashmika Mandanna's ignorance Her statement also triggered a barrage of comments on YouTube and other social media platforms, with people pointing out her ignorance. 'She is not the first frm kodava community ...before that many artist have acted like prema, nidhi subbaih, harishika poonacha, tanisha kuppanda,' pointed out one person. 'She is only the actress who tell lie in front of media and people … Statement ' she is the first actress who came from Coorg city… '100% false statement…Thr was more then 5 to 6 actress who came from coorg …. Even she not born when 'Prema madam ' act in OM Kannada movie who from Coorg,' wrote another. A miffed fan wrote, 'Rashmika maybe you are the only one who thinks u made it big. Yes definitely but u have also forgotten Gulshan devaiah too has made it big.'

Forestella's Comeback on Immortal Songs Will Give You Goosebumps - Here's What Went Down
Forestella's Epic Return - Not Your Average K-pop Comeback If you thought K-pop was all about flashy idols and high-pitched bops, Forestella is here to flip the script. The crossover vocal group - Bae Doohoon, Kang Hyungho, Cho Mingyu, and Ko Woorim - just made a jaw-dropping return on KBS2's Immortal Songs, and trust me, it's the kind of comeback that'll make you wish you had front-row tickets. After almost two years, Forestella performed as a full group again, and their stage was nothing short of legendary. For the 2025 King of Kings special, they picked Lady Gaga's "Abracadabra" and turned it into a magical, cinematic moment. Imagine the drama of a Bollywood dance-off, but with four powerhouse vocalists and world-class choreography. The Stage That Broke the Internet - Lady Gaga, Leather Coats, and Next-Level Choreo Forestella didn't just sing - they owned the stage. Styled in burgundy leather coats (seriously, someone call Manish Malhotra for a collab), they teamed up with 1MILLION Dance Studio and the iconic Lia Kim for choreography that looked straight out of a Lady Gaga music video. Their harmonies hit like a monsoon after a Delhi summer, and the dancers moved so perfectly in sync with the group's gestures, it felt like watching a wizard casting spells. The energy? Pure goosebumps. If you've ever seen a K-pop group and thought, "Why can't we have this at our college fest?" - this is that level, but with even more drama. What's Next - New Songs, Solo Concerts, and a Tour That's Making Us Jealous Forestella isn't stopping with just one epic stage. During a backstage chat with MC Shin Dongyeop, they spilled that a new song is dropping soon, and they're about to kick off a solo concert tour. The Seoul show is set for July 26-27 at Jangchung Arena, followed by stops in Busan (BEXCO) and Daegu (EXCO). For reference, ticket prices for these kinds of concerts can go from ₹5,000 up to ₹15,000 or more - which, let's be honest, is less than what you'd pay for a BTS show, but the vibe is just as intense.
