Rohde & Schwarz to highlight broadcast technologies at CABSAT
Rohde & Schwarz is set to return to CABSAT in 2025, where it will present a range of next-generation broadcast distribution solutions aimed at helping content providers and network operators embrace new business models, boost operational resilience and meet sustainability goals.
A major highlight at the company's stand will be the R&STH1 high-power transmitter. Engineered for the evolving broadcast landscape, the R&STH1 features a cutting-edge amplifier architecture that improves energy efficiency by 15% compared to previous models. Its liquid-cooled design efficiently channels over 90% of heat outside the building, reducing cooling demands and overall energy consumption. These features significantly lower the total cost of ownership and position the R&STH1 as a versatile platform capable of supporting emerging services like 5G Broadcast.
Visitors will be able to see first-hand how Rohde & Schwarz is enabling 5G Broadcast adoption, with real-world demonstrations that include use cases such as venue casting, multimedia alerts and dynamic advertising. These examples showcase the technology's potential to deliver content to mass audiences without straining cellular networks, offering a robust solution for mobile-first regions.
The company will also showcase its complete DAB+ transmitter lineup, tailored to meet a wide range of output needs while maintaining high efficiency and reliability. The portfolio includes the compact, air-cooled R&STLV9 starting at 50 watts, the air-cooled R&STMV9evo for outputs from 350 watts and the high-performance, liquid-cooled R&STHV9evo for power levels starting at 1.3 kilowatts. All three transmitters are designed to support broadcasters in their transition to digital radio, offering cost-effective, scalable solutions.
Maha Chrabie, Sales Director, Broadcast and Distribution MEA at Rohde & Schwarz, said: 'CABSAT gives us the chance to meet with key players across the Middle East and Africa. We're looking forward to demonstrating how our solutions help broadcasters and network operators grow new revenue streams while building a sustainable and flexible future.'

Telefonica phases out Huawei gear from its networks
In order to align with regulatory requirements restricting the use of Huawei gear in core infrastructure, Telefonica plans to phase out the equipment from its 5G networks in Spain and Germany. Telefonica COO Emilio Gayo told Reuters the operator is 'reducing our exposure to Huawei' in both countries, where governments have mandated the phase-out of the Chinese vendor's equipment from 5G core networks due to national security concerns. In the UK, where a similar ban is in place, Gayo added that Telefonica's exposure to Huawei is already 'very, very low'. However, the operator confirmed it will continue using Huawei equipment in Brazil and other Latin American markets, where no such restrictions are in place. Reuters reported that Telefonica CEO Marc Murtra emphasised that equipment from all suppliers is subject to strict internal standards, ensuring security for the company and its customers. Huawei has faced restrictions across European markets for a numbers of years, with governments citing national security risks. However, Spain did recently award a €12 million wiretap contract to Huawei, which was met with a warning from the European Commission. According to The Financial Times, the European watchdog warned that Huawei 'represents materially higher risks' than other suppliers. However, a Huawei spokesperson told Mobile World Live that all of its products in Spain 'fully comply with local laws, regulations, and applicable product admission criteria and standards'. Regarding the wiretap equipment in question, OceanStor Dorado, the company stated it is 'a common flash storage hardware' that adheres to Spain's National Security Scheme and ICT security guidelines. 'Huawei has no access to customer data, all the information stored in hardware belongs to and is at the exclusive disposal of the customer', the spokesperson added. SIBUR Develops New Grade of Polypropylene for Hygiene Products
MOSCOW, RUSSIA - Media OutReach Newswire - 30 July 2025 - SIBUR, Russia's largest polymer producer, has developed a new grade of polypropylene designed for use in hygiene and medical products. The company expects to sell over 1,000 tonnes of this polymer grade by the end of 2025. The new product was created by the SIBUR PolyLab research centre and the Nizhnekamskneftekhim plant, in collaboration with the R&D team from a leading Russian manufacturer of hygiene products that supplies nonwoven materials to multinational companies. The new polypropylene grade, PP MG182 K, has proven to be an effective alternative to traditional hygiene solutions that rely on blends of several polymer grades. Its technical properties make it suitable for supply both within Russia and to international markets as a raw material for the production of nonwoven fabrics. Over the past two decades, the use of polypropylene-based nonwovens (spunbond fabrics) in the hygiene and medical sectors has grown considerably. Since consumers value the softness of materials that come into direct contact with the skin, manufacturers have traditionally relied on special additives to enhance the softness of polypropylene spunbond. SIBUR has successfully developed a proprietary polypropylene copolymer that provides the required softness without the use of foreign additives that are no longer available in the Russian market. The development team also aims to further improve the material to eliminate the use of phthalates, additives facing stricter regulation in several countries. This enhancement will broaden the scope of application of the copolymer grade as well as its export potential. Hashtag: #SIBUR The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement.
