Fabindia Celebrates Handcrafted Charm in New Campaign

Fabindia, the iconic lifestyle brand synonymous with Indian artisanal heritage, has launched its new campaign titled 'Beautiful Imperfections'. This initiative pays tribute to the soulful irregularities of handcrafted items, redefining them not as flaws but as marks of authenticity and human connection.
Inspired by age-old techniques such as Dabu, Ajrakh, Bagru, Bagh, handblock printing, and tie & dye, the campaign highlights how each piece is shaped by generations of craftsmanship. From natural dye-making to intricate block carving and resist printing, artisans from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh infuse individuality into every creation.
These traditional methods, free of machines, ensure that no two pieces are alike—each carries a distinct story of place, process, and person. Fabindia's collection spans apparel, home décor, and accessories in rich hues of indigo, earthy tones, and vibrant reds, evoking an emotional, tactile experience rooted in Indian culture.
The campaign reinforces that true beauty lies in intentional, slow creation, where small imperfections elevate rather than diminish value.
Available now in Fabindia stores and online at fabindia.com, the collection invites you to embrace the charm of imperfection.

Know the significance and types of sequins for your saree decoration

(Image Credits: Pinterest) (Image Credits: Pinterest) (Image Credits: Pinterest) (Image Credits: Pinterest) (Image Credits: Pinterest) 1 2 Sequins are among the most commonly used embellishments for decorating fabrics in both fashion and ornamental contexts, adding a glamorous and glittering touch. These small, shiny, disc-like beads are flat and come in a wide variety of shapes and colours. The word 'sequin' is derived from the Arabic word sikka, which means coin. This form of decorative art was first used in Arab nations to embellish the veils and headgear of both men and women, often signifying wealth and social status. Over time, sequin embroidery travelled across the globe and gained immense popularity, eventually becoming a staple in garment decoration. (Image Credits: Pinterest) Today, sequins are also referred to as spangles or diamantes. While traditionally made from metal, modern sequins are often crafted from plastic, offering the same shiny, reflective finish while being lightweight and easier to work with. This makes them ideal for creating a dazzling shine and sparkle. Sequins can be scattered subtly throughout the fabric or concentrated in one area for a more dramatic, eye-catching effect. In India, sequin embroidery is widely used, from high-end couture to affordable fashion, appearing on sarees, Anarkalis, and Western garments alike. Because they're lightweight, they integrate seamlessly into fabrics, adding dimension without weighing down the outfit. Glamourous saree Many Bollywood designers love blending sequins with beads to form intricate, glittering patterns, often in multicoloured designs—perfect for the festive season. Let's explore some of the most popular types of sequins used in fabric embellishment: Flat sequins: These are simple, flat sequins with a hole at the top and are available in round or square shapes. They lack embossing or cupping and are commonly used to add shine to ethnic outfits. They are also known as paillettes. Cupped sequins: Featuring a flat centre with faceted edges, these concave-shaped sequins offer more texture and depth, making them ideal for detailed embellishment on Indian garments. (Image Credits: Pinterest) Holographic sequins: Known for their multi-coloured, metallic finish and vibrant visual effect, holographic sequins are often used in costumes and cosplay outfits for a bold, futuristic appeal. Metallic sequins: Made by compressing metal coils, these sequins come in shades like gold, bronze, and silver. Their shiny, reflective surfaces make them a favourite for embroidery and embellishment that demands attention. Glitter sequins: Covered in glitter, these sequins are adored for their sparkling finish. Aside from fashion, they're also used in home décor items like curtains, handbags, and accessories. Biodegradable sequins: These eco-friendly sequins are a sustainable alternative to traditional plastic versions. Made from plant-based materials, they are non-toxic and plastic-free, offering beauty with a conscience. While sequins are often seen as flashy and extravagant, they don't always have to be bold. When used in moderation, they can subtly enhance the beauty of any fabric, adding just the right amount of sparkle. Whether it's a festive lehenga or a classy evening dress, sequins can transform an outfit into something truly eye-catching.

It's official! We're wearing jeans to weddings now

If the idea of 'why can't I just wear jeans' and attend a wedding has ever crossed your mind, celebrated fashion designer duo Falguni Shane Peacock just showed how you can actually execute couple couturiers, known for their extravagant high-on-bling fashion creations often decked with feathers and fringes, put forth a regal showcase on Day 3 of the ongoing Hyundai India Couture Week 2025 in association with Reliance Brands, an initiative of a stream of sparkling lehengas, figure-hugging gowns, sherwanis, bejewelled sehras and reimagined sarees, a model took over the runway in a pair of blue jeans. Not a basic pair, but an elevated version boasting a fringe-heavy hem. A stylish white shirt layered with a bedazzling long black jacket and an unmissable blingtastic brooch lent the ensemble a wedding-ready makeover. Falguni Shane Peacock introduce jeans to the bridal runway! Maximalist in appearance but high on practical wearability - no crippling discomfort. An approach Gen-Z and younger millennials are obsessed with. Probably why nearly every phone in the front row went up to record 'the look'.In an exclusive conversation with India Today, designer Shane Peacock shared that the reason behind bringing jeans to a bridal show was to try something different, keeping Gen-Zs in mind. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sandip Das (@sandipphotographer)The designer said he wouldn't be surprised if brides choose to get married in jeans someday. BTW, some brides are already embracing denim in their own way. In 2023, one even took her vows in a denim jeans become a wedding trousseau staple, thanks to their comfort and unapologetically individualistic appeal? We can't say a definite no. After all, brides have been increasingly experimenting with unconventional silhouettes like pantsuits and jumpsuits for their wedding aside, the real scene-stealer was showstopper Akshay Kumar - not in jeans, and definitely not with Twinkle Khanna unzipping them for him mid-ramp, like that unforgettable moment years ago. The superstar returned to the runway after more than a decade. Akshay Kumar turns showstopper for Falguni Shane Peacock in ivory silk sherwani. Don't miss the blingy juttis. A known early-to-bed loyalist, Akshay ditched his famed sleep schedule for the show, bringing his signature energy to the runway in an embellished ivory sherwani - a timeless ensemble that could easily double as a modern groom's uniform. His sparkling silver juttis, however, added a touch of FSP's signature and Shane drew inspiration from the grandeur of Indian royalty for their new collection 'Raj Mahal Bijoux' and rendered it in their couture pieces. An eclectic mix of Swarovski crystals, emeralds, and rhinestones adorned the ensembles; elaborate veils, cape-like drapes, and saree-inspired silhouettes took center stage. The show setup, too, transported the audience to a grand garden party, with marble peacocks - reminiscent of Baroda's Laxmi Vilas Palace - festooning the hall. Sarees with dupattas to continue being in vogue. While brides frolicked in sparkling silhouettes with a colour palette ranging from soft pastels to intense blacks and blues, FSP's menswear collection also stood out for its bold tryst with bling. This collection didn't just showcase sherwanis swathed in ornate embellishments at the front, but fully drenched in crystalline glam at the back too. A heavy use of metal stood out as well.
