Newcastle United step in for Thiaw after Como agreement

Yahoo12 hours ago
Malick Thiaw continues to resist the agreed Como transfer and now there are reports Newcastle United are in the running for the Milan defender.
The Rossoneri have warned he is not part of their plans under coach Max Allegri and had given the all-clear for Como to complete the swoop for €25m.

However, he was not enthusiastic about the switch and continued to stall for several days.
It was noted that the German international arrived at pre-season training earlier than expected today, as he is eager to convince Allegri and the club that he deserves to stay.
Thiaw targeted by Newcastle United too

There is another twist in the tale this evening, as Sky Sport Italia report that a club from the Premier League has set its sights on Thiaw.
Milan News are more specific, naming the interested party as Newcastle United.
It would be another Serie A defender on the radar of the Magpies, who are also heavily linked with Atalanta centre-back Giorgio Scalvini.

Real Madrid Moves To Land ‘Impossible Dream' Paris Saint-Germain Star

More of Paris Saint-Germain's recent Champions League triumph according to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources. Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has the "impossible dream" of signing one of the main architects of Paris Saint-Germain's recent Champions League triumph according to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources. Taking over the reins from Carlo Ancelotti this summer, Alonso has a wealth of options in attack which could lead to him selling or loaning out the likes of Kylian Mbappe backups Endrick and breakout Club World Cup star Gonzalo Garcia. Arda Guler seems to be in Alonso's primary plans, which also pushes Rodrygo onto the bench with his compatriot Endrick. And though the Turk is a great attacking midfielder and the manager has other great players in the center of the park such as Fede Valverde and Jude Bellingham, he still lacks someone with a profile akin to Toni Kroos or Luka Modric. Kroos of course retired from football this time last year after leading Madrid to a record-extending 15th Champions League crown against his compatriots Borussia Dortmund and failing to deliver the Euros for Germany, who were knocked out in the quarterfinals by Spain. Modric has lasted another year, but nearing 40 he will move on after the Club World Cup where Madrid faces the same 2023/2024 UCL final foes in the last eight. Alonso's search has led him to Vitinha, and Madrid is reportedly putting the wheels in motion to snatch away the Portuguese playmaker that was so instrumental in his current club's first UCL win and in particular it's 5-0 thrashing of Inter Milan in a Munich-held final. With a contract until 2029, Vitinha would only go for an astronomical amount of money which Los Blancos can't or won't want to give a club it has been institutionally at war with since the Mbappe debacle. It would adopt a similar strategy in luring Vitinha, in that Madrid would encourage him to run down his contract and then join the La Liga giants for free towards the end of the decade in what would be another major coup for President Florentino Perez. Real Madrid will have to look elsewhere for its Kroos/Modric replacement As that possible free switch is still some four years away, however, Real Madrid will have to look elsewhere for a Kroos/Modric replacement that is able to sit at the base of midfield and cooly dictate play. Madrid seems to have missed out on Martin Zubimendi who would've been perfect, with the Basque set to be announced by Arsenal in the coming days.

Where to watch Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund live stream, TV channel, start time for FIFA Club World Cup match

A resurgent Real Madrid will look to continue their dominant run in the FIFA Club World Cup as they take on Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals on Saturday. With Xabi Alonso at the wheel, Madrid have looked a more purposeful side in the tournament. Five-time champions Real Madrid are on a 16-match unbeaten streak in the Club World Cup. More importantly, they have beaten Dortmund the last four times the teams have clashed. Advertisement After wins over Pachuca and Salzburg saw them top their group, Los Blancos edged past Juventus 1-0 in the Round of 16, courtesy Gonzalo Garcia's 54th minute strike. Despite the lopsided recent record, Dortmund won't be an easy opponent. The German club has taken huge strides under coach Niko Kovac, and rose from 11th in Bundesliga to earn Champions League qualification. In the Club World Cup, they topped their group as well and defeated Mexican side Monterrey 2-1 to make the last eight. The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch the match, kickoff times and the latest lineup news. Advertisement Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund start time Date: Saturday, July 5 Time: 4:00 p.m. ET | 1:00 p.m. PT Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund will kick off at 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 5, from the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA. Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund predicted lineups, team news After missing all three group-stage games, Kylian Mbappe finally made his return from a nasty illness as he came off the bench for the final 22 minutes against Juventus last round. It's unclear whether he will be ready for a starting role or if he will remain a bench option as he continues gaining fitness. Gonzalo Garcia has been brilliant in the France star's absence, scoring the only goal in the win over Juventus, and he could be handed the start simply out of respect for his performances. Advertisement Endrick has finally linked up with Real Madrid at the Club World Cup and has begun training after recovering from a hamstring injury, but he was not part of the Round of 16 squad. Raul Asencio is available following his one-game suspension for a red card against Pachuca, but he was an unused substitute against Juventus and may have lost Xabi Alonso's trust. Dani Carvajal, Eduardo Camavinga, David Alaba, and Ferland Mendy are still absent with their long-term injuries. Real Madrid predicted XI (4-4-2, right to left): Courtois (GK) — Alexander-Arnold, Rudiger, Huijsen, F. Garcia — Valverde, Tchouameni, Bellingham, Guler — Vinicius Jr, G. Garcia. Injured:Endrick (hamstring, doubt), Carvajal (knee), Camavinga (muscle), Mendy (muscle) Suspended:None Advertisement Sadly, with a booking in the last round against Monterrey, Jobe Bellingham is suspended for this match and will not be available to face his brother Jude. His spot could be filled by either Marcel Sabitzer or Julian Brandt depending on how aggressively Niko Kovac wishes to play his cards. Dortmund are missing a number of key players, including defender Nico Schlotterbeck who is still recovering from a meniscus tear suffered back in early April. They're also without captain Emre Can who was not included on the Club World Cup roster thanks to a groin injury. Officially, Jamie Gittens has an "illness," but the unspoken reason for his absence is likely down to an imminent transfer to Chelsea that has been heavily reported as being near completion. However, to balance that out, there are also reports that Carney Chukwuemeka is nearing a deal to stay with Dortmund for the duration of their Club World Cup competition. Borussia Dortmund predicted XI (3-4-3, right to left): Kobel (GK) — Sule, Anton, Bensebaini — Ryerson, Nmecha, Gross, Svensson — Brandt, Guirassy, Adeyemi. Advertisement Injured:Can (groin), Gittens (illness), Schlotterbeck (knee), Ozcan (knee) Suspended:Bellingham (yellow cards) FIFA Club World Cup fixture schedule this week All times ET Saturday, July 5 Paris Saint-Germain vs. Bayern Munich (12:00 p.m.) Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund (4:00 p.m.) Related Links
