Court acquits man, orders case against 4 cops for falsely implicating him
Barwani Special Judge (NDPS Act) Mohammad Rais Khan, while acquitting the accused Mohsin Khan, directed registration of a case against police inspector Shri Ram Mandloi, sub inspector Ravin Kannauj, and two head constables Jagjodh Singh and Prashant Mishra, under the NDPS Act and sections related to intentionally making false accusations of crime, submitting adverse reports during judicial proceedings, and giving or fabricating false evidence in court.
Apart from filing complaint petition before Chief Judicial Magistrate Barwani, the judge has also directed Barwani SP to take departmental action against the policemen.
As per the prosecution, Mohsin Khan was caught with 2.210 kg ganja on Aug 9, 2023, on Barwani bypass. During the trial, Mohsin produced CCTV footage of his shop in the court, due to which many discrepancies were found in the facts presented in the police chargesheet.
The court remarked that the misuse of their position by police officers not only ends the fundamental and legal right to life of a common man but also ends faith in justice. Therefore, legal action against the said police officers seems necessary.

Malayalam Rapper Vedan booked for rape after doctor's complaint
KOCHI: Malayalam rap singer Hirandas Murali, popularly known as Vedan, has landed in fresh controversy after a young doctor filed a rape complaint against him. The Thrikkakara police on Wednesday registered a case against the 30-year-old singer, a native of Thrissur. According to the police, the complainant befriended Vedan through Instagram in 2021. The arrested accused, Dilipkumar Bishnoi (24) and Jayprakash Bishnoi (25), both residents of Phalodi in Rajasthan's Jodhpur district, were nabbed at a private hotel in Shahapur after a team acted swiftly on a specific tip-off. The accused were sent to PCR till August 8 The contraband, packed in plastic sacks and concealed within the vehicle, is valued at Rs60.91 lakh. Police also seized the four-wheeler used for transportation ( worth Rs20 lakh), four high-end mobile phones worth Rs1.6 lakh, and miscellaneous items including 15 plastic bags and a red floral saree likely used to camouflage the goods. The total seizure stands at Rs82,51,710. Bhandara SP Noorul Hasan said, "It was one of the biggest raids in the region in the past few years. For the past month, we've been running Operation Jagar Nasha Mukti Cha, under which multiple dedicated teams were formed. One such team received intel about a vehicle leaving Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and heading towards Bhandara while distributing doda. That's when we moved in." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Sukawati: Unsold Sofas Prices May Surprise You (Prices May Surprise You) Sofas | Search Ads Search Now Undo H asan confirmed that the two accused are history-sheeters with existing cases under the NDPS Act. Preliminary investigation revealed that there the operation is part of a wider inter-state racket with handlers and peddlers spread across Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and even Madhya Pradesh. The consignment was allegedly being routed through Nagpur after entering from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Sources within the department suspect a possible link to the infamous Bishnoi gang. "Both accused hinted that their main handler operates from inside a jail in Rajasthan. This angle is being actively pursued," said a senior official. Cops also said the gang's modus operandi involves stealing vehicles in one state, using them to distribute doda across multiple states, and then selling the vehicle off before disappearing. Accordingly, offences under both NDPS Act and theft have been registered against the accused. Police believe that the accused were en route to supply doda to buyers operating out of Rajasthani dhabas on highways. "After starting from Sambhajinagar, they reached Nagpur, halted at Shahapur, and were on their way to Chhattisgarh for the next delivery," an officer said. Officials stated that further arrests are likely as deeper links are established in the inter-state network. The case is being investigated by the Jawaharnagar police under the supervision of SP Noorul Hasan, Additional SP Nilesh More, Jawaharnagar PI Bhimaji Patil including other officers.
