Smooth and seamless Hajj journey for pilgrims, says official
Assistant Undersecretary for Pilgrims and Umrah Services at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Dr Mohammad Ali Batouk, said the ministry's dedicated operations centre plays a crucial role in enhancing public relations and coordinating services to cater to the needs of pilgrims from around the world.
Speaking during a media visit, Dr Mohammad explained that the ministry tracks every phase of the pilgrims' journey, from the initial visa issuance to flight arrangements, airport arrival, transportation, and accommodation, as well as the readiness of lodging facilities.
'The centre carefully follows all these operational indicators to make the pilgrimage journey smooth and seamless. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that pilgrims can perform their religious rites comfortably and with peace of mind,' he said.
The centre also works closely with various sectors of the ministry and communicates directly with service providers to enhance the quality of services offered.
Dr Mohammad emphasised that feedback from pilgrims is taken seriously, and any issues raised are addressed immediately to minimise disruptions.
'These operations are monitored 24/7, starting from the last Hajj season until the end of the current one, inshallah. We are dedicated to resolving any challenges and ensuring that the pilgrims' experience is positive,' he added.
During the briefing, representatives from international media raised questions about measures to address illegal pilgrims.
Dr Mohammad assured that the ministry, along with related departments, is fully engaged in managing permits and maintaining discipline among service providers and pilgrims alike.
'The measures we have in place aim to guarantee that only authorised pilgrims receive services, thereby upholding the integrity of the pilgrimage and ensuring a safe and well-organised Hajj,' he said.
He further noted that updates on pilgrim arrivals and related information are published daily on the ministry's official social media accounts.
More than two million pilgrims are expected to perform Hajj this year.

Indonesian transport ministry acts to prevent flight disruptions amid Middle East conflict
JAKARTA (Bernama-ANTARA): The Indonesian government has taken steps to mitigate potential flight disruptions caused by escalating conflict in the Middle East by coordinating with aviation stakeholders, including airlines and air traffic controllers, ANTARA news agency reported. In a statement issued on Sunday, Director General of Air Transport at the Ministry of Transportation, Lukman Laisa, said the ministry continues to monitor the Middle East situation closely to prevent any impact on Indonesia's flight operations. He said the ministry is working with state-run air navigation provider AirNav Indonesia, national airlines, and civil aviation authorities in relevant countries to ensure safe and seamless flight operations, particularly those that pass through Middle Eastern airspace. Laisa noted that, based on the latest Flight Information Region (FIR) data, several airspaces and flight routes in the region remain closed due to security concerns. "The eastern part of the Tehran FIR, parts of the Tel Aviv FIR, the Dubai FIR, and the Cairo FIR are still closed," he said. The ministry has reminded Indonesian airlines to monitor conditions regularly and adjust flight plans when necessary, especially for Hajj flights, which commonly transit the region. The public has been advised to remain calm and follow official updates from airlines and flight authorities. "Updates will be provided regularly based on real-time conditions," Laisa added. Meanwhile, flag carrier Garuda Indonesia resumed its regular Jakarta-Doha route on Saturday after Qatar reopened its airspace. Several other international airlines, including Qatar Airways, have also resumed flights to and from Qatar following the recent escalation. - Bernama-ANTARA

‘Misled on Haj package' claim
Published on: Saturday, June 28, 2025 Published on: Sat, Jun 28, 2025 By: Lagatah Toyos Text Size: According to Sapariah, the losses included return MAS flight tickets between Tawau and Kuala Lumpur, excess baggage charges for domestic flights in Saudi Arabia, and expenses for frozen food and other necessities—with some items supported by receipts and some without. TAWAU: The Consumer Claims Tribunal has fixed July 24 for the hearing of a case in which a female teacher is claiming RM10,000 in compensation from a company that offered a Hajj package. Tribunal President Larina Wong Shiao Yee said the claimant, Sapariah Muhammad, filed the claim against Tripz HR Sdn Bhd on May 14, 2025. In her claim, the teacher alleged that the company had misled her with the Hajj package it offered. She had paid for a Hajj worker visa and a Haji Tasreh visa package but was only issued a tourist visa. Despite paying for the worker visa package, Sapariah claimed she received only a tourist visa before departing from Tawau. She also alleged that the company misused the tourist visa for the purpose of performing Hajj. Furthermore, the claimant said she felt manipulated and deceived after being instructed to lie about her true purpose of travel to Saudi Arabia, both at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and upon arrival in Riyadh. She incurred losses amounting to RM10,000, as not all payments were refunded after she cancelled her trip while at KLIA. According to Sapariah, the losses included return MAS flight tickets between Tawau and Kuala Lumpur, excess baggage charges for domestic flights in Saudi Arabia, and expenses for frozen food and other necessities—with some items supported by receipts and some without. The teacher had initially paid a total of RM37,305 for the Hajj package, which included payments to the company's account, the agent's account, and other related expenses. However, she only received a partial refund of RM27,305. She was originally scheduled to perform the Hajj and Ziarah pilgrimage from May 17 to June 28, 2024. Meanwhile, the company's legal adviser, Hanif Osman, requested a new mention date to allow time to review the documents and claim details submitted. Larina then fixed July 24 as the next hearing date and instructed both the claimant and respondent to attend with any relevant witnesses or supporting documents. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
