Zetrix AI allowed to continue providing immigration-related services
PETALING JAYA : Zetrix AI Bhd, formerly known as MyEG Services Bhd, has been allowed to continue providing immigration-related services despite the immediate termination of its agreement with the immigration department.
In a bourse filing, Zetrix AI said it received a letter from the home ministry today clarifying that the company could continue to offer immigration-related services within the scope of any other agreement with the government.
It said it had a teaming agreement with Heitech Padu Bhd, which was awarded the National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) project, under which immigration-related services, including foreign worker permits, were within the NIISe project scope.
'The suite of immigration-related services provided by the company continues to be accessible to customers through its platform,' it said.
The company also said it expected minimal disruption and no material impact on its financial performance following this development.
On July 15, it was reported that Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd fined seven of Zetrix AI's directors RM150,000 each for failing to ensure three company announcements in 2023 were factual and accurate.
Bursa said Zetrix AI announced on July 7, 2023, among other things, that a notification letter dated July 4, 2023 from the home ministry confirmed the finance ministry's approval of the company's appointment as the government revenue collection agent and extended its role as the provider of online services for the immigration department.
It said the July 7 announcement was inaccurate, false and misleading as it was inconsistent with the contents of the July 4 letter.
It said Zetrix AI and the directors also failed to make an immediate announcement to clarify the inconsistency, but maintained its misrepresentation of matters in the company's subsequent announcements on Sept 13 and Sept 14 that year.
On July 15, it was reported that Zetrix AI would seek a judicial review against Bursa over the penalty imposed on its directors.

KTMB reaffirms commitment to Johor on ETS expansion
KTMB said it is working with the relevant contractors and authorities to ensure its ETS service from Segamat to Kluang will be ready as soon as possible, with trial runs currently under way. PETALING JAYA : Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) is committed to fully expanding its Electric Train Service (ETS) to Johor as soon as possible. However, the company said it will only be done in phases, after ensuring the safety and reliability of the service to the southern sector, Bernama reported. 'KTMB's primary responsibility is to ensure safety, reliability and readiness before opening any new segment to the public,' it said in a statement today. KTMB said it is working with the relevant contractors and authorities to ensure the next segment of its service, from Segamat to Kluang, will be ready as soon as possible, with trial runs currently under way. The three phases for the ETS extension in Johor are to Segamat, Kluang, and JB Sentral in Johor Bahru. The service currently runs from Padang Besar in Perlis to Segamat. 'The transport minister (Loke Siew Fook) had announced last March, when launching the service to Segamat, that the extension in the southern sector will be done in phases, depending on several critical technical milestones and regulatory approvals,' KTMB said. The company said it wanted to reassure the public of its commitment to delivering a safe, modern and transformative rail service for the southern corridor, following recent reports on the service being extended to Johor Bahru. KTMB said the ETS service to Segamat has been operating successfully since March this year, offering improved travel options and stimulating local economic activity. 'KTMB wishes to thank all passengers, local stakeholders and the public for their patience and continued support. We remain fully committed to making ETS travel to the south a success,' it said.

Johor cops to charge father of boy found buried in Negeri Sembilan

(Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : Johor police will file two charges against the father of six-year-old A Tishant, whose body was found buried in Jempol, Negeri Sembilan, last month. State police chief M Kumar said the 36-year-old man will be charged in a Johor Bahru court with assaulting his wife and filing a false missing person's report, Utusan Malaysia reported. However, he said, the charges will only be filed after the murder probe by the Jempol police headquarters is completed. 'In Johor, the investigation against the suspect only involves Sections 323 and 324 of the Penal Code; Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act 1994 read together with Section 326A of the Penal Code for allegedly assaulting his wife, as well as Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001. 'We have already received instructions to charge the suspect, and this will be done after the murder investigation under Section 302 is completed,' he was quoted as saying at a press conference at the Johor police headquarters today. Tishant was reported missing in Taman Bukit Indah, Iskandar Puteri, on July 24. His body was found four days later, after his father's arrest. An autopsy revealed the boy was strangled with a cable tie. Kumar said police first received a report from the suspect's wife on July 22, alleging domestic abuse and that the man had taken their only child away. He said the suspect was arrested but later released on police bail. He then filed a report claiming he had left his son alone in the car and returned to discover that the boy was missing. However, inconsistencies in his statement led to his re-arrest and, after further questioning, the child's body was discovered.
