'It sucks": Wade Miley clears air after being accused of supplying prescription drugs to Tyler Skaggs
Cincinnati Reds pitcher Wade Miley has firmly denied any involvement in the tragic drug-related death of former teammate Tyler Skaggs, after being unexpectedly named in a deposition related to Skaggs' 2019 overdose.
Speaking with reporters on Friday, Miley addressed the claims head-on while expressing his deep sorrow over the loss of his former teammate.
'I hate what happened to Tyler,' Miley said, as quoted by Bob Nightengale of USA Today. 'It sucks. My thoughts are with his family and friends. But I'm not going to sit here and talk about things that somebody might have said about me or whatnot. I was never a witness for any of this. I've never been accused of any wrongdoing.'

Tyler Skaggs, who passed away at just 27 years old, was found to have died from a combination of alcohol, fentanyl, and oxycodone. The shocking nature of his passing prompted a wrongful death lawsuit from his family against the Los Angeles Angels, seeking $210 million in damages. The case has already led to the conviction of former Angels communications director Eric Kay, who was found guilty of supplying Skaggs with the fatal pill.

Miley's name surfaced during a deposition from Skaggs' former agent, Ryan Hamill, as part of that lawsuit. Hamill stated that he had expressed concerns about Skaggs' drug use as early as 2013. 'He came clean,' Hamill testified. 'He said he had been using — I believe it was Percocets — and he said he got them through Wade Miley.'
That claim has cast a sudden shadow on Miley's otherwise respected MLB career. Now 38, the veteran left-hander was Skaggs' teammate on the Arizona Diamondbacks during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
During that time, Miley emerged as a rising star, even earning a spot on the National League All-Star team in 2012.
Despite the swirling accusations, Miley reiterated his innocence and chose not to elaborate further. "No wrongdoing" has ever been formally associated with his name, according to Nightengale's report.
Miley is currently preparing to take the mound on Sunday as the Reds continue their series in Detroit against the Tigers. The timing of the allegations places him in a difficult position both personally and professionally.
While the legal battle between the Skaggs family and the Angels organization presses on, Miley appears intent on focusing on baseball, while letting his brief and direct statement stand as his only public response for now.

1 2 Prayagraj: Cops are gearing up to regulate crowd of devotees, including kanwariyas , for the third Shrawan Somvar, after anticipating heavy footfall of devotees at prominent Lord Shiv temples along the kanwar yatra route on Monday. With increased security measures and crowd management strategies, including the deployment of additional police pickets and traffic diversion, cops are also utilising technology like drones and CCTV surveillance. They are coordinating with various departments to ensure a smooth and safe experience for devotees. A senior cop told TOI, "Senior cops have reviewed security arrangements for the third somvar of the Shrawan month and deployed additional forces to regulate the flow of devotees at 12 prominent Lord Shiv temples in the district. Haridwar: The Mansa Devi temple stampede has raised several questions over failure in proper crowd control and management by Haridwar district administration and police, as per locals. Many pointed out that adequate police presence on the pedestrian route and the entrance for better crowd control could have averted the tragedy, adding that the situation was exacerbated by unauthorised structures on the route. Mohan Lal, whose six-year-old nephew Arush died in the stampede, said, "Only if there were proper arrangements on the temple route, my nephew would've been alive today. There was no police presence on the narrow route. It was overcrowded with people moving up and down at the same time, leading to the congestion. Also, no one could move forward... Even after the incident, help arrived late." People started to panic when rumours spread that the temple gates were being closed, Lal said, adding: "It was a terrible sight." Being a Sunday, the possibility of a larger crowd was very much there. So, the administration should have been more alert," he said. Haridwar-based social activist JP Badoni told TOI, "This tragedy could've been averted. Local administration is solely responsible. This is not the first such tragedy in Haridwar. However, lessons from the past have clearly not been learnt. There are over 200 illegally constructed shops along the Mansa Devi pedestrian route, many of which draw electricity illegally. Despite the area being a reserved zone, the forest department never took any action. The religious trust managing the temple also never addressed the growing risks." Badoni urged immediate legal steps against those responsible. Meanwhile, assuring a comprehensive review, DM Mayur Dixit told TOI: "The temple administration has been directed to employ private security. Crowd management protocols at religious sites will undergo review." Soon after the tragedy, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami instructed disaster management secretary Vinod Kumar Suman to conduct a comprehensive assessment of crowd management, route planning and security measures across Uttarakhand's pilgrimage sites to prevent similar incidents in future.
