No no-fly zones during Asean Summit, says CAAM
Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) chief executive officer Datuk Captain Norazman Mahmud said that any existing restrictions or flight bans remain in force only in areas officially gazetted and announced through Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) documents and Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs).
"All parties are advised to refer to these official sources to ensure compliance with current aviation regulations," he said when contacted Saturday (May 17).
He also said that using drones in the vicinity of KLCC is also permitted throughout the summit.
Norazman said CAAM works closely with security agencies, including the Royal Malaysia Police and the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), to monitor, manage, and coordinate flight activities in the interest of public safety and security.
"This collaboration is important not only in the context of airspace control, but also in ensuring that every flight operating in Malaysia complies with the stipulated safety regulations," he said. — Bernama

Chegubard arrested by police over sedition allegation, says lawyer
KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu Port Dickson division chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegu Bard, was detained by police at his house today in connection with an opposition gathering on Saturday. His lawyer, Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali, in a statement, said the political activist was arrested at 2.30pm at his home. He said they received confirmation that a police report had been lodged against Chegu Bard in connection with the gathering held at Dataran Merdeka on Saturday. One case is being investigated by the Bukit Aman Classified Crime Unit, while the other three have been referred to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia over the use of drones. Investigations are being carried out under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act; Section 504 of the Penal Code; and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Police investigate four reports from Dataran Merdeka rally
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have confirmed receiving four reports linked to the rally held at Dataran Merdeka on Saturday. One case involves an effigy resembling Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim being caned near the National Mosque, while the other three pertain to drone usage. Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad stated that the effigy incident is being investigated under multiple laws, including the Sedition Act 1948, the Penal Code, and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
