The incident reportedly took place on July 3 at the couple's residence in Trombay Koliwada. According to the Trombay police, the woman sustained head injuries and was rushed to Shatabdi Hospital, where she received treatment. Her condition is now stable.
The Trombay police are investigating the matter.
In her complaint to the police, Swati stated that when the family was having dinner on July 3, Dabhade asked her to serve him more chicken and Chinese food. 'Swati told him that she could not serve him more as the food was over,' a police sub-inspector said.
Enraged by her response, he allegedly picked up an iron rod and hit her on the head. After her recovery, she approached the police and filed a formal complaint.
Following her complaint, the police charged Dabhade under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (assault), and 3(5) (common intention), and arrested him.
The police also booked his mother for allegedly supporting her son.
According to the police, their investigations have also revealed that Swati filed a complaint against her husband and in-laws on June 1 this year on charges of dowry harassment.
'Dabhade had been pressuring her to withdraw the case against him and his family. Swati has alleged that Dabhade was also angry at her as she refused to bring Rs 5 lakh from her father's house to run his money-lending business,' another police officer said.

Pimpri Chinchwad police arrest 2 men, including US national, for trying to convert people by offering financial assistance
The Pimpri Chinchwad police said Monday they have arrested two men, including an American national, and apprehended a minor boy for allegedly trying to convert people to Christianity by offering financial assistance. The police identified the arrested US national as Schaefer Javin Jacob, 41, a resident of California, who lives in an apartment near Mukai Chowk in Pimpri Chinchwad. The police said they have also arrested Steven Vijay Kadam, 46, a resident of Raisoni society in Pimpri, and handed over the minor, a 16-year-old boy, to his mother. Pimpri resident Sunny Dhanani, 27, who belongs to the Sindhi community, lodged the First Information Report (FIR) in this case at the Pimpri Police Station Sunday night. The police have booked them under sections 299 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). They have also invoked sections 14 (b) and (c) of the Foreigners Act against the American national in this case. As per the FIR, the accused allegedly approached Dhanani at his residence in Pimpri at around 11.30 am Sunday. They allegedly told Dhanani that he would get 'happiness, peace, wealth, and good mental health' if he embraced Christianity. They also allegedly claimed that Jesus Christ is the only God, while other Gods are just stories, the FIR stated. It added that the accused allegedly offered financial assistance to the complainant if he accepted Christianity. Dhanani then approached the police and filed a complaint against the accused for allegedly hurting his religious sentiments. Ashok Kadlag, Senior Police Inspector, said further investigation is underway. Kadlag said the probe so far shows that the American citizen has been coming to India since 2016 on tourist and business visas. 'But he was not found doing any business activity here,' said Kadlag.

China Probes Celebrity Monk for Embezzlement, Sex Misconduct
China has accused the former head monk of its most famous Buddhist temple of embezzling funds and sexual misconduct, beginning a new investigation more than a decade after similar allegations surfaced. Shi Yongxin, the abbot of the Shaolin Temple until he lost his ordination, is under probe for allegedly misappropriating temple assets, the 1,500-year-old monastery said in a notice on its official WeChat account on Sunday. The institution also accused Yongxin of violating Buddhist precepts by having long-term relationships with several women and fathering illegitimate children. The announcement raises questions about timing that have dominated Chinese social media. Many users wondered why authorities acted now, nearly a decade after disciples first publicly accused Yongxin of similar behavior in 2015. Yongxin, the dharma name he is known as, emerged largely unscathed from allegations at the time including of rape, embezzlement and fathering children. Henan provincial authorities cleared him of a claim of having an illegitimate daughter that year and accusations of financial wrongdoing in 2017, citing insufficient evidence. 'This time I wasn't surprised he did such things, but surprised by what changed that he can't escape scot-free like before,' one user wrote on Weibo, capturing widespread sentiment. Bloomberg News is unable to reach Yongxin. The Shaolin Temple didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. The China Buddhist Association moved swiftly to distance itself from Yongxin, announcing Monday it had canceled his ordination certificate. The association said it received a report from Henan provincial Buddhist authorities recommending the action. 'Shi Yongxin's actions are extremely egregious and have seriously damaged the reputation of the Buddhist community and the image of monks,' the association said in a statement. The organization expressed 'firm support' for legal action against him. Yongxin, born Liu Yingcheng, was widely credited for establishing the temple, the subject of the 1982 blockbuster The Shaolin Temple, as the preeminent monastery in China and making it a commercial success. He had argued that the preservation and spread of authentic Shaolin culture requires that monks be engaged in the secular world. With assistance from Qianwei Zhang.
