Steven Tyler and Joe Perry have lunch in Florida. Could an Aerosmith reunion be next?
Singer Steven Tyler, 77, and guitarist Joe Perry, 74, of Aerosmith were spotted grabbing a bite and posing for a photo together at Morton's Gourmet Market, a longtime specialty food store in Sarasota. The market opened in 1969 — just a year before Aerosmith launched the career that would eventually land the band in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
In the photo shared by Morton's on social media, Tyler — wearing a sheer black shirt, patterned pants, layered necklaces, and holding a Morton's bag — stands smiling next to two employees in branded black shirts. To their right is Perry, in a burgundy button-down shirt, ripped jeans, beaded jewelry, and his signature wild hair, completing a snapshot that must have delighted fans and likely surprised a few unsuspecting shoppers.
Why did Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith visit Morton's in Florida?
A manager for Morton's — which opened more than half a century ago when Ted Morton purchased Marable's Market — could not be immediately reached for comment. However, the gourmet grocery store revealed on social media that the rock stars, once known as the 'Toxic Twins,' dropped in for a bite to eat.
'Never a dull moment at the market!' Morton's posted on Thursday, June 19. 'Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith dropped by for lunch. Awesome guys!'
Of course, Sarasota has deep ties to Aerosmith, with Perry owning a home on Longboat Key. But appearances by the guitar hero remain rare — especially ones where he's accompanied by his longtime lead singer and songwriting partner, a duo responsible for such classic rock anthems as the Aerosmith hits 'Walk This Way,' 'Same Old Song and Dance,' and 'Back in the Saddle.'
Could an Aerosmith reunion be happening?
Aerosmith retired from touring last year after Tyler suffered a vocal cord injury. But Perry is preparing to get back on stage with his namesake group — and some familiar faces are joining him.
The Joe Perry Project's eight-date run kicks off Aug. 13 at the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Event Center and features fellow Aerosmith members Brad Whitford and Buck Johnson, along with Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes and Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz of Stone Temple Pilots.
Could Tyler make a surprise appearance? The Sarasota sighting certainly fuels the speculation. Perry's publicist did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Billionaire Tyler Perry reveals why he fired his aunt and financially cut off family members: I'm not ‘welfare'
Tyler Perry is keeping his (credit) cards close to his chest. The media mogul, who amassed a net worth upwards of $1.4 billion, revealed that he doesn't believe in providing family members with handouts. What's more, the Hollywood filmmaker said that he once went so far as to fire his aunt from a job because she didn't take it seriously enough. 4 Tyler Perry revealed that he doesn't believe in providing family members with handouts. YouTube / Kirk Franklin Perry detailed his firm stance on finances during an appearance on YouTube series 'Den of Kings,' saying that the unidentified relative would always ask for money. 'She said she wanted a job. She would always call asking for money, I would send her the money,' he told host Kirk Franklin and fellow guests Derrick Hayes and Jay 'Jeezy' Jenkins. 'I said, 'Listen, I want to help you. I want to help you build this thing, not be welfare to you. So, let me give you a job.'' But the 'Madea Goes to Jail' star said his aunt was constantly calling off sick, which forced him to put his foot down. ''Well, you gotta go,'' he recalled telling her. 'Because you want me to hand you the money, but you don't want to work for it. See, that doesn't work for me.' Perry, who was recently slapped with a $250M sexual assault suit, admitted that he has adopted a similar approach when raising his 10-year-old son, Aman. 'I don't believe in giving us things that are just going to handicap us,' he shared. 'That is the worst thing you can do.' 4 The Hollywood filmmaker has amassed a net worth upwards of $1.4 billion. Tyler Perry / Facebook The director said that he sent letters to family members that his mother had asked him to help out with financially after she died in 2009. In the letter, he told his family members they had 60 days to get a job. 'I'm not going to keep supporting you like that,' he told them, adding that all family members ended up finding employment. 'And it wasn't even, like, jobs where they made a lot of money, but it was a job,' he said. 'It was something else for them to do, feel some pride in. That's the same thing I would want someone to do for me.' 4 Tyler Perry pictured with his late mom, Maxine (right) and aunt, Mayola. FilmMagic Perry currently boasts a net worth of $1.4 billion, according to Forbes. He owns 100% of the projects he creates, with his most successful franchise to date, 'Madea,' grossing over $660 million. It's not the first time Perry had opened up about his parenting choices. During an appearance on 'The Sherri Shepherd Show' in December 2024, the filmmaker revealed that his son only gets 'books and Legos' for Christmas, and that the pair fly coach. 'He was complaining once, this was about five years ago, he was complaining about flying commercial because the lines were so long,' he shared. Perry said that he and Aman's mother, Gelila Bekele, came to a mutual agreement that their child would be flying commercial from then on out. 4 Perry owns 100% of the projects he creates, with his most successful franchise to date, 'Madea,' grossing over $660 million. Chip Bergman 'So he understands, I worked, he did not. So when he works, he can learn that lesson,' he said. 'He's not gonna be one of those ridiculously spoiled rich kids, I can't stand that. Doctor charged in Matthew Perry's death pleads guilty to supplying ketamine to actor
A physician charged alongside four others for his role in actor Matthew Perry's death pleaded guilty in court Wednesday, July 23. In court, Dr. Salvador Plasencia pleaded guilty to four counts of illegal distribution of the prescription anesthetic ketamine and faces up to 40 years in prison. In June, Plasencia agreed to plead guilty to his role in the substance abuse that contributed to the "Friends" star's tragic death in 2023. Also known as "Dr. P," Plasencia first signed a plea agreement on June 13 drafted by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California, according to a court document filed June 16 and obtained by USA TODAY. Ketamine is a short-acting anesthetic with hallucinogenic properties. It is sometimes prescribed to treat depression and anxiety, but is also abused by recreational users. As part of the plea deal, Plasencia acknowledges that he "knowingly distributed ketamine" to Perry before his 2023 death, behaved in a manner "outside the scope of professional practice," and that the drug distribution lacked "a legitimate medical purpose." Doctor who supplied Matthew Perry with ketamine to plead guilty, faces 40 years in prison In addition to prison time, other conditions of Plasencia's sentence could also include a three-year period of supervised release, a fine of $2 million (or alternatively, "twice the gross gain or gross loss resulting from the offenses") and a mandatory special assessment of $400. In August 2024, Plasencia was charged alongside Jasveen Sangha, whom the Department of Justice previously referred to as "The Ketamine Queen" of North Hollywood, and the pair faced 18 criminal counts for allegedly "distributing ketamine to Perry during the final weeks of the actor's life." Perry, best known for his role as the wisecracking Chandler Bing on "Friends," died in October 2023 at the age of 54 after the actor was found dead in a jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home. The drug-related nature of Perry's death prompted a sweeping investigation in May 2024 by several U.S. agencies, including the Los Angeles Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. An autopsy report released in December 2023 revealed that Perry's death was an accident, with the cause being "the acute effects of ketamine." Contributing factors were drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine.
