Mistake turns into $230k lottery win for Bella Vista couple
BELLA VISTA, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A mistake while buying lottery tickets as a birthday gift turned into a $230,000 win for a Bella Vista couple. The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery says Darren and Lindsy L. won $230,000 in the May 7 Natural State Jackpot (NSJ) drawing. They claimed their prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center in Little Rock on May 14. The winning ticket was sold at Casey's General Store on Riordan Road in Bella Vista and the winning numbers were 6, 10, 14, 27 and 39. Family of 15 loses Goshen home in fire Darren L. told ASL that he bought the winning ticket as a birthday gift for his wife, but mistakenly purchased Quick Pick tickets for NSJ instead of Powerball tickets. 'It was actually a misunderstanding,' Darren said. Lindsy found she had won two days after the drawing while on a birthday retreat when she checked the winning numbers. The pair said they plan to go on vacation with their prize. The jackpot for Thursday's NSJ drawing is $85,000. NSJ tickets are $1 per play, and ticket sales cut off at 7:59 p.m. every day.
