The Cavan native had a tough end to her PGA Championship just last week. She started the final day in sixth place and remained in contention as opponents around her dropped shots.
But a double bogey on the 12th hole and another on the 13th meant last year's Ladies European Tour winner had to settle for tied 19th along with world number one Nelly Korda.
The highest ranked Irish golfer - 84th - said: "It was a very positive week.
"It was a tough golf course, it was over 100 degrees Fahrenheit here and it was very windy – the windiest conditions we've played in in a long time.
"Combine that with a difficult course set up and it really made for a challenge.
"It was kind of nice, you expect a challenge at majors. The KPMG PGA has become a challenging event and we were all expecting that and it was nice to put four good rounds together at this time of the year."
"I definitely felt that my game was trending in the right direction," she added.
"I played really well at the Meijer at Grand Rapids the week before. Golf is a funny game, sometimes all it takes is a little thing to click and away you go."

Jack Kennedy snatches first win since returning from injury-ridden spell
Jack Kennedy was delighted to be back in the winner's enclosure for the first time since returning from injury after steering Kamikaz Du Plessis to success at Wexford on Friday. The former Irish champion jockey broke his leg for a sixth time in November and despite making it back for the Cheltenham Festival in March, he has been on the sidelines again since, missing showpiece meetings at Aintree and Punchestown as well as the conclusion of the 2024-25 Irish season. Kennedy was out of luck with his three rides on his long-awaited return at Tipperary on Tuesday and also failed to trouble the judge on his three mounts at the same track on Thursday, but struck gold in Wexford's opening Shamrock Enterprises Maiden Hurdle. He said: 'That's brilliant and I didn't have to wait too long, so it's great.' The Gordon Elliott-trained Kamikaz Du Plessis was an 11-8 favourite having gone down narrowly on his debut under rules at Ballinrobe in late May and rewarded his supporters with a near four-length verdict. Kennedy added: 'He is a very slick jumper, he travelled well and was probably borderline keen early, but once we on a little bit he was perfect then. He is a nice horse and hopefully there will be plenty more to come with him. 'He stayed on well in Ballinrobe the last day, so we were hoping the two-and-a-half-mile trip today would suit him. 'He probably put the race to bed fairly easy and I was probably there a bit soon on him. He was green and just ran around a bit, but he is a nice horse, I got a nice feel off of him, so hopefully he can go forward.'

‘One of the worst rides of all time' – Champion jockey gets a pasting from punters after Sandown shocker
CHAMPION Irish jockey and Juddmonte No1 Colin Keane got a pasting from punters after 'one of the worst rides of all time' at Sandown. Breaking from stall two Keane looked to have the perfect chance to grab the inside running rail. He opted to drop the horse in behind Godolphin's William Buick-ridden Key Of Magic as the field settled. And it looked to have been the prudent play three furlongs from home as Keane and Publish settled in the leader's slipstream. But things started looking dicey two furlongs out as the smooth-travelling Publish jostled for room. Keane was forced to take pull, get going again, take a pull again… all the while waiting for a gap to appear on the inner. But it never did. In that time eventual winner Pacifica Pier, ridden by James Doyle had got first run on the outside. Most read in Horse Racing Keane was forced to switch with half a furlong to go and flashed home in the second behind the 13-2 winner. He looked the ultimate eyecatcher but, in truth, given even half a chance more it's likely Publish would have won. Punters who were in on the Publish gamble couldn't believe their luck afterwards. One joked 'bring back Kieran Shoemark' in reference to the Gosdens' former No1 jockey who lost his job after Field Of Gold's runner-up finish in the 2,000 Guineas. To Keane's credit he is two-from-two on the Gosdens' other top class talent. ITV Racing tipster Tom Collins labelled Keane's ride 'absolutely pants' while a third said: "How has Colin Keane just lost on Publish? One of the WORST rides of all time. Horse looks a star though, would have won so, so easy." Punters will have to forgive and forget quickly if they want to go in on him again. Publish has already been smashed into as short as 20-1 from 50s for next year's 2,000 Guineas.
