Marvin Sapp Releases 'Close the Door'
Dallas, TX – May 4, 2025 – Marvin Sapp was recently in the news over a misinterpretation of his words while he was taking up offering at the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World 2024 National Convocation. Sapp was vilified on the internet and received threatening messages at his church from people who were angry over a video clip that showed him telling the ushers to 'close the doors.'
After appearing on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, Get Up! Mornings with Erica Campbell, CBS News Texas and WFAA Fort Worth to add context and clarity to the video clip, Sapp is now turning that 'momentary affliction' into an affirming message with a new single titled 'Close the Door.'
In the song, written by Sapp and Kolten Perrine, and produced by Rodney East, Sapp recounts the harrowing last few weeks and sings:
Close the door on anxiety, on the pain and disdain that keeps chasing me, Close the door on the ridicule and on the noise that tries to make me lose my cool…God has a purpose, He will restore…Though I'm hurting, I'm still hoping, My victory is worth fighting for, So I close the door…
Sapp posted about the single on social media, saying ''Close the Door' isn't just a song, it's a soundtrack for survival…I'm closing the door on the noise, the pain, and everything that tried to break me. This song will bless you. I believe with everything in me my assignment through this season through this song is to help you close the door too.'

Drive-in movie at Texas Motor Speedway raises funds for Central Texas flood victims
Hundreds of North Texans took in a drive-in movie at Texas Motor Speedway to help rebuild flood-ravaged lives in Central Texas. "How to Train Your Dragon" may have been the feature film; Central Texas was the focus. "The second we saw everything breaking on the news on the Fourth of July weekend, our entire team got on a group text, got on a Zoom call, and decided that we wanted to do something to give back," Marissa Chaney said. Chaney is the executive director of Speedway Children's Charities. She said they reached out to community partners, including CBS News Texas. Everyone responded. Three hundred thirty guests were expected to attend the fundraiser; however, more than 600 showed up. A minimum of $20 per carload would get you in the gate. Chaney said some donations exceeded that. "It touched me personally because I think everybody can relate to the fact that we all have those memories of going to summer camp or camping with our families on holiday weekends, or just spending time on the river in Texas," she said. The memory was so fresh for Corrigan Camp that she and her 8-year-old twin started a lemonade fundraiser. It was successful enough for the siblings to get invited to Texas Motor Speedway to sell an ice-cold cup of benevolence. "When my mom told me about what happened, I was really sad and we wanted to do something good so we could help build Mystic back," Corrigan Camp said. The children's mother, Lisa Camp, is proud that her kids' lemonade stand skyrocketed beyond their expectations. "I'm grateful and thankful and proud of them and that they want to give back and support other kids," said Lisa Camp. Curtis Reams and his family came to support the flood victims during a most challenging time. "I don't want to make a sad thing out of this, but today was my mom's funeral," Reams said. Reams said his father, Joe, was one of the people who obtained the signatures to establish the track. So, Friday was a financial and emotional gift. "We thought it would just be great to come here," he said. "Honor my mom and dad at the same time."

Report: ESPN signing NFL analyst Orlovsky to long-term extension
Dan Orlovsky, who has served as an NFL analyst with ESPN since 2018, has agreed to terms on a long-term contract, Front Office Sports reported on Monday. Per the report, the former NFL quarterback will remain as a game analyst for the second-string team on 'Monday Night Football' with Chris Fowler, Louis Riddick and Laura Rutledge. Orlovsky, 41, will also continue to appear on 'NFL Live,' 'SportsCenter,' 'Get Up' and 'First Take.' Orlovsky's new contract is not final but he is apparently 'at the 1-yard line' with the network, per the report. Before the holiday weekend, the former Detroit Lions QB posted a picture on social media toasting himself and on his Instagram story, he wrote, 'Here's to what's next.' He wrote on his X account on Monday: 'Gotta keep working. Gotta keep proving yourself. Gotta stay hungry. It's always the journey.' Orlovsky, whose NFL career began in 2005 and lasted until 2017, is a popular figure at ESPN who has apparently shown interest in becoming a coach in the NFL. 'Dan's been talking to some teams and seeing if there's something that interests him and is worthwhile for him,' ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter told Pat McAfee in an interview. In February, Front Office Sports reported that Orlovsky was 'exploring his options' regarding potential free agency.
