Meta launches anti-scam campaign with a twist to drive digital safety awareness

Hans India4 days ago
As part of Meta's commitment to user safety, we've launched the second edition of our anti-scams campaign, Scam se Bacho 2.0' that delivers digital safety tips with a twist. This year's campaign takes to the streets, literally, through a creative collaboration with digital creator Signboard_wala, known for using bold, witty placards to spark real-world conversations.
Building on the success of last year's campaign, Scam se Bacho 2.0 brings scam awareness into public spaces across some of the most iconic streets in Mumbai, using culturally relevant and visually impactful storytelling to inform people about common online scams such as fake loan scams, impersonation and OTP fraud, among others.
The campaign features Signboard_wala holding different signs such as 'Ex ho ya scammer, dono ko block & report karo' and 'Keep your friends close and your OTPs closer' – packaged as witty one-liners, the campaign delivers important digital safety lessons, spotlights Meta's safety features like two-factor authentication (2FA), Block and Report and encourages people to take an active role in their online safety.
The clever, humorous messages designed to grab attention, definitely spark a smile but most importantly, make people pause and reconsider online scams. It's awareness with a twist - no preaching, no drama – just authentic, relatable moments that resonate.
Last year Meta launched its safety campaign 'Scams se Bacho' by partnering with Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana to educate people on how to stay safe from online scams and promote safer digital practices. Launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), the campaign emphasised Meta's commitment to safeguard people online, supporting the Government's goal to combat the rising cases of scams and cyber frauds in the country.

RTO detects misuse of eKYC-based faceless system, 3 learner licences cancelled

1 2 Nagpur: The Regional Transport Office (Nagpur City) cancelled the learner licences of three individuals after detecting misuse of the eKYC-based faceless system. The action followed an internal probe which revealed that the candidates shared their Aadhaar-linked OTPs with third parties, who then took the online test on their behalf. Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector Dhwaj Dakhne lodged a complaint with Sitabuldi Police Station on July 10, 2025, seeking an investigation into the matter. According to RTO officials, the faceless system was designed to eliminate human intervention by using biometric verification and OTP-based authentication, but this case exposed vulnerabilities in its implementation. According to the RTO's findings, three candidates allegedly shared their eKYC-generated OTPs with third-party representatives, who then appeared for the learner licence test on their behalf. The RTO submitted that all relevant evidence, including audio recordings, will be provided to the police. Personal notices are expected to be issued to the candidates to seek their explanation before further departmental action. A senior official from Sitabuldi Police Station confirmed receipt of the complaint and said coordination is ongoing with the RTO. "We have asked the RTO to verify the case at their level and identify the three individuals who indulged in malpractice. Once we receive proper documentation and evidence to the matter, legal action will follow," the official said. "This incident is a serious breach of the faceless service system, which was introduced to simplify the licensing process. Sharing OTPs to let someone else take the test is a clear violation of the law and undermines the system's credibility," said Kiran Bidkar, Regional Transport Officer, Nagpur (City). Bidkar added that the licences have already been cancelled and a formal police complaint has been lodged. "Citizens are strictly advised not to misuse the faceless system. If any such fraud is found, we will take stringent action in the interest of road safety and system integrity," he said.

Who will play Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network sequel after Jesse Eisenberg says no?

Who will play Mark Zuckerberg? About The Social Network Part 2 More than a decade after it redefined the tech biopic genre, The Social Network is coming back with a powerful new chapter. The 2010 Oscar-winning film, directed by David Fincher and written by Aaron Sorkin, chronicled the dramatic rise of Facebook and its enigmatic founder, Mark Zuckerberg . Now, its highly anticipated follow-up promises to go deeper—into the darker, more controversial side of Silicon Valley. With casting buzz already swirling and new storylines surfacing, this sequel is already generating major heat in Jesse Eisenberg 's performance as Zuckerberg in the original earned critical acclaim, the actor has declined to return for the sequel. Taking his place—possibly—is Succession star Jeremy Strong . According to Deadline, Strong is in early negotiations to play the META CEO, although no official offer has been made yet. If finalised, the casting would mark a major shift in tone and energy, bringing Strong's intense screen presence into the heart of Silicon Valley's most prominent The Social Network Part II, the film is once again written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, and produced by Sony Pictures. It's described not as a direct sequel but as a continuation—a standalone film with thematic ties to the original. Alongside Strong, the cast is expected to feature The Bear star Jeremy Allen White and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood's Mikey Madison in pivotal time, the story will reportedly draw from The Facebook Files , a hard-hitting investigative series published by The Wall Street Journal in 2021 and written by journalist Jeff Horowitz. These reports exposed troubling internal practices at Facebook (now Meta), revealing how the platform knowingly allowed harmful content to thrive, affected teen mental health, and prioritised growth over safety. The sequel is expected to dig into these controversies, presenting a sharp critique of the company's moral decay post its explosive David Fincher returning to direct and Sorkin again handling the screenplay, The Social Network Part II is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated and talked-about films of the decade. The project is being produced by Todd Black, Peter Rice, Aaron Sorkin, and Stuart Besser.
