
Kota Madani project expected to be completed by end-2027, says PM
During the presentation session, Anwar said that among the planned developments included vertical schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
He added that financial institutions, health clinics, fire stations, police stations and mosques would also be built near the residential areas.
"The first phase involves the construction of around 3,000 residential units and a vertical school, expected to be completed and fully operational by the end of 2027.
"The design of the mosque and school will feature local cultural elements, in line with efforts to preserve architecture and heritage.
"I hope the plans proceed smoothly and can be implemented effectively for the benefit of the community," he said through an entry on X, today.
Meanwhile, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, through a separate post on X said that the Kota Madani project, covering 41.28 hectares, would provide 10,000 residential units to accommodate over 30,000 residents.
The development will adopt a high-density vertical design.
She said the city would integrate artificial intelligence (AI) technology, advanced digital infrastructure, and green mobility systems, forming the foundation for a low-carbon, sustainable and safe urban environment.
"This is a long-term strategic investment to shape Putrajaya as a model city that reflects Madani values and aligns with the vision of Bandar Chase," she said.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 26.

ROME: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was accorded a guard of honour upon his arrival at Chigi Palace, the official residence of his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni, on Thursday. Anwar was accompanied by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, as well as Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz. Also present was Malaysian Ambassador to Italy, Datuk Zahid Rastam. In 2024, total trade between Malaysia and Italy increased by two per cent to RM14.61 billion (US$3.18 billion), compared to 2023. From January to May 2025, bilateral trade rose 3.3 per cent year-on-year to RM6.5 billion (US$1.48 billion). Italy remained Malaysia's fifth-largest trading partner and the third-largest importer of Malaysian palm oil among European Union member states last year. Anwar is scheduled to depart for Paris next, where he will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron during his two-day visit. Following that, the Prime Minister will head to Rio de Janeiro to attend the 17th BRICS Leaders' Summit at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Anwar meets Italian PM Meloni, discusses enhancing cooperation in various sectors
ROME: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived at the Chigi Palace here for the official visit with Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni on Thursday (July 3). He was greeted by the Chief of Protocol before being escorted to Meloni. Then, the national anthems of both nations were played. Both leaders walked along the red carpet within the courtyard of Palazzo Chigi, stopping to acknowledge their national flags, and walked past the guard of honour. Meloni then introduced her delegation, followed by Anwar who did the same for his ministers. Later, the two leaders met for nearly an hour. They discussed enhancing cooperation in the field of trade, investment and defence, among other things. 'Had a productive and meaningful meeting with PM Meloni, where we reaffirmed our shared commitment to strengthening Malaysia–Italy relations,' Anwar said later. He said they talked about deepening strategic collaboration across key sectors including investment, defence, sustainable energy, and advanced technologies. 'We also exchanged views on critical regional and global developments. 'As chair of Asean, I highlighted Malaysia's role in enhancing Asean's engagement with key international partners such as Italy and the EU,' he said. 'It was a meaningful meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni which has opened the door to more comprehensive and productive bilateral discussions on strategic investments, defence, sustainable energy, and the development of high-tech industries such as semiconductors, electric vehicles, and artificial intelligence,' he said. "I welcome the investments by leading Italian companies such as Leonardo, Fincantieri, and ENI in Malaysia, and welcome the participation of Italian companies in our Special Economic Zones, as well as the implementation of industry training programmes which focuses on sharing of expertise and technology transfer,' he added. Anwar given official welcome by Italian government at Chigi Palace

His arrival at around 12 noon local time was greeted by his counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, followed by the playing of both nations' national anthems. Anwar was then invited to inspect the guard of honour, followed by an introduction session with members of both countries' delegations. Accompanying him were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan; Transport Minister Anthony Loke; Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu; Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz; and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. Delegations from both countries then held a bilateral meeting, scheduled to last approximately 40 minutes. Anwar later departed for Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport to continue his official visit to Paris, France.
